My tactics revolve around making machines fight one another and then clean the mess right after. So, I always use the corruption arrow or stun the strongest machine and override them. Works wonderfully if there's a thunderjaw, especially 2 thunderjaws

the tripcaster and ropecaster def became my fav this time around. I also take out the radar off thunderjaws which make it so much easier to hit them. Also the arrows that detach armor detach their cannons with 1 single hit which makes it easy to use the discs against them.
The best strat for thunderjaws is: A: nuke them with 15 explosive trips, if that doesn't kill them then take a tear blast arrow and knock off the disc launcher, then pick it up and finish the remaining HP, or if you wanna be a pro B: inflict the frozen status, take some tearblast arrows to the side of its neck which will remove the armour pannel revealing the core inside which is a super weak point then pelt it with high damage arrows while he is frozen for big PP damage
I upgraded my Tripcaster on my alt Story difficulty game to do max damage I was expecting a high number But holy fuck 2300 DMG My Banuk Powershot arrows do 70DMG when fully charged in Ultra Hard mode
I mean... but now what was the point of attacking harmless machines? you destroyed the cargo D: you're the reason why the derangement happened!! xD On another note though, what difficulty is that? that detection range is so small and you're not even wearing silent hunter outfit :O wonder how would this fare on higher diffs, just from the ammount of HP
I didn't use initially either, but replaying now without shield weaver and using all weapons. It adds a whole new dimension, no need to use hundreds of trips just some carefully laid out will work nicely.

Search for shellwalker convoys or behemoth sites, one corrupted zone has them too
