I think there's a part where it exposes the heart of the thunderjaw. With 3 sharpshooter arrows, I think you could one shot it (if you have the best bow (banuk or shadow) and you have all purple damage coils)

The way he leaps off of rooftops and flips backwards to face the camera before falling into a headfirst dive is just full of the exaggerated swagger of a black teen
There's also another trick that can be used to easily kill the Thunderjaw without even getting hit by him. Just go to the Sun Furrows Hunting Grounds and jump to the lower level of the hill (you can't shoot from the highest spot since it's a starting point for hunting trials). Then start shooting at the Thunderjaw located below. Use tearblast arrows to get rid of his disc launchers and cannons first and he won't be able to attack you. Even if he gets very close, there's nothing he can do from below (his only range attack left is laser sweep but it shouldn't hit you through the rocks). Just watch out for Ravagers and Watchers wandering around. Most of the time they will remain in yellow state and won't get close to you but occasionally one of them may get close enough to attack.
I got up on a rock, removed his disc launchers and cannons with Tear arrows, jumped down and hid behind the rock then lobbed blast orbs over the rock until he died.
Tear blaster arrows to take out the disc launchers, knock 3 ice arrows and shoot. While the “frozen” animation is playing out grab the disc launchers and fire at will. Repeat. if there is any remaining Health aim for the thunder jaws sides at the thing that looks like a big heating element with sharpshooter arrows or hard point arrows. Can be completed all in under 2 mins roughly.
What difficulty were you playing? Difficulty level significantly impacts ice damage required to reach frozen status, under UH even a freeze canister explosion is not enough to freeze a thunderjaw/stormbird/behemoth. Also tear damage to rip parts off, on normal one tearblast arrow is enough to take out a disc launcher, on UH it is 7 or 8 I did not remember exactly.

Multishot some precision arrows aiming for the drums on the back of it. Slid past and found the disk launcher, used until empty. I tend to only use arrows for thunderjaws. Shooting off one component after the other and seeing it's attacks change is really neat + cool battlesoundtrack.
I was even worser,level eight, didn't even been to olin's apartment,had just basic,fire arrows,in a simple Nora bow, tripcaster,rattler,and precision bow
Yeah but this isn’t any fun at all and provides no adrenaline rush. Play on hard difficulty with no aim assist it’s the perfect balance imo and doesn’t require ridiculous resource farming like ultra hard does.

Your level is maxed at 50, suggesting you're playing a lower difficulty then Normal, which caps at 60. The thunderjaw will have less health at lower difficulty levels.

I'm about 30 hours deep. And I've died at this thing for about the last 10. I've shot everything I have at it and it still doesn't die. I even blew it 2x with its own disc gun, nailed it down like 30x...What the heck else am I supposed to do. Idk how u kill it just like that. But I guess ill try this tactic. Smh level 13 rn with 1 shadow bow and a carja sling
@@love-ce5xq If you died to it for the last 10 hours then why do you keep trying? Get better gear and higher levels and try again later. The game even suggests that you shouldn't fight it before atleast level 27.
The first time o saw one of those I put so many wire traps down I think I used every resource I had. I think there was enough explosion to make GAIA be like that hurt.
Just freeze it with freeze arrows and then shoot it in its main component on its side or you can kill him with his own disc launcher by removing it with tearblast arrows.
Anyone else play Baldur's Gate 2? I remember doing the same thing there. You could kill a dragon (who wasn't initially hostile) by just laying 20 traps around him, then aggroing him. The moment he went hostile, boom, dead. Fun times.

I wanted to see just how strong a ravager gun was so i went on this long trek with that heavy thing and tried it on a thunder jaw. I personally like to have to run and dodge and all that stuff so i don’t think I’d use that or this option but u know, it you’re desperate for good parts then i guess do what u need lol
My favorite way to take down thunder jaws is by setting up two electric trip wires before hand, then blasting off both his disk launchers with purple tear arrows to get it to chase me. Once it trips my trap, it stuns it giving me time to use the disk launchers. I only wish storm birds were that easy lol
That was me in the Frozen Wilds DLC when the demonic thunderjaw showed up. Like hell i'm gonna fight this thing fairly, choke on my 6 million traps bitch !

LMAO Seriously? There was absolutely no fight. It's fun to fight them and with traps, tripcaster, & ropecaster it'll go quicker. A bit of both makes it fun. This move is just too quick. Clever but quick. I think the context in which the term "one shot" was used is lost on some folks. After watching I understand it to mean one attempt or one try.
On the PC version Hard difficulty this doesnt work with 12 blast tripwires. But on Zeta cauldron I went kinda nuts and set up 12 blast, 6 shock, and 6 fire tripwires and full stock of blast, fire, and shock traps in that small area near the triangle you can hide out in and when TJ came at me and hit tripwires i threw in some freeze bombs then blast/sticky bombs and it died pretty quick 8)
I just completed that cauldron yesterday, on PC. I set up lots of shock and blast wires but also removed the disc launcher with a tearblast arrow. It's just fun to use their heavy weapons against them

Blast wires are so OP, love em' when im in a pinch or just dont feel like fighting for 5 mins. Btw im probably near the end and i am soo hooked on this game, damn, comes close to best ive played. I personally hate tripcasters because they feel cheap to use i use a powershot, war and hunter bow also a blast sling is nice for the sticky bombs. The way i one shot machines is by freezing them and then shooting 3 arrows from a powershot now into their weak point.

So if you put damage mods in the tripcaster and then shoot trip lines and then remove the damage mods to put in your bow to kick off a fight do the trip lines still retain the high damage from the damage mods that were in the tripcaster when you shot the tripwires?
@@lordgallo4213 I tested it and yes the damage stays. So you could set all highest damage mods and set up traps then remove mods and kick off the fight. It's slow cause of lack of handling but works great

I dunno how others can keep their blast wires on same spot without it dissolving/disappearing... Coz when I do that, even with just 3 blast wires in one spot, it'll disappear in like under 15secs, such a waste of wires for preparation for battle especially when fighting those giants (thunderjaw, fireclaw etc), so I always make like a pattern instead and lure them on the spots I put the trap...

Instead of the disc launchers you can use rattler with full very rare handling mods because it's fun (the rattler basically becomes an assault rifle)

You can easily kill the rock breaker by using hardpoint or precision arrows to shoot the big blaze sack it has but easy to die as well

I admit easier than my usual method of using the sound arrow things to blow the rocket launcher off and then shoot it with its own rockets.
You even need a lot of munition, just with 6 or 5 explosion you can kill him easy, but no one shot

@@lordgallo4213 I tested it and yes the damage stays. So you could set all highest damage mods and set up traps then remove mods and kick off the fight. It's slow cause of lack of handling but works great

It's technically one instance of damage, it just took 12 Blast Wires to set it all up.
Lmao i remember getting stuck because i'm to scared to fight a thunderjaw. Then after like a week i was like "fuck it, let's just do it" And it was so fkin easy
lmao same i was too scared to fight the thunder jaw in the cauldron (forgot which one) but i just decided aight now i've got good weapons i really don't care if i die lmao. i set up traps all around where it spawns and just destroyed both disc launchers and it was dead pre easy

Using a banuk bow I used to be able to 4 shot it even if all four shots were to its armor. So take that

I dunno how others can keep their blast wires on same spot without it dissolving/disappearing... Coz when I do that, even with just 3 blast wires in one spot, it'll disappear in like under 15secs, such a waste of wires for preparation for battle especially when fighting those giants (thunderjaw, fireclaw etc), so I always make like a pattern instead and lure them on the spots I put the trap...
