To be fair about the offset, in the 82nd were starting to get issued ngals and we still use fsp
Marines are still using m-16s with fixed front sight post, and are being issued new NGALs so, the separation in the middle is still necessary

Even some conventional Navy has them in inventory

Like most, I position my lasers as far forward as possible…very close to the suppressor. Have you heard of any issues because of excessive heat during high round count sessions?
Not from heat specifically to the unit. But the thermal shift of the beam due to heat rising on the can, yes.
We had issues with running them on 48's and 240's due to heat but that is excessive heat compared to the average rifle.
Nice! Loved replacing my PEQ-15 with this, the small form factor lasers definitely are great. Cant wait to try out one of the RAID-XE's

Worst part is there is no gray market option for these, and won't be for a very very long time.
Any NGAL people see will only be used by LE, mil, or training companies that can justify the need for "training".
For the rest of us, this sucks. I hate the FDA and ATF.

The Chinese Airsoft clones offer full power and are getting REALLY close to the real thing. They even hold zero even though they advertise they don't for legal reasons. I'll tell you this, they are getting so close. Customs, and USPS will try to seize them 😬
Im lost, ive been offered 5-6 different ngals this month alone, private party. There is a huge grey market.
Any issues with the illuminator knob? Have heard tales of them breaking off and being a bit wobbly.

NGAL because in my opinion it looks cooler and I don’t like having all the weight to the right with the laser unit, flashlight and a magnifier all hanging off the right
that ngal blows the la5 and the la5 uhp out of the water.its better than any laser i own and i own them all except for the wilcox raid x.wilcox has too many bells and whisles for anything i do anyway. good vid man

I think myself and others would be interested in how to program the NGAL or even the PEQ-15/16 to turn the strobe feature on and off, haven't seen a UA-cam video on that subject yet.

How's the battery life being that it uses different laser tech? is it comparable to that of a PEQ 15 or LA5?
So it's on the same battery I've had in it for a month and a half. We will see where that takes us.

Don’t get the SomoGear!!! Get the IS-EG, even just the InvisibleSight NGAL is much better than Somo!!! Much better illuminator with REAL diffusers! The Somo is garbage… I’ve seen both side by side, you can also tell the fit/finish is much better. Also, the SomoGear doesn’t have any recoil lugs built in to the body

I understand that you must’ve shot a lot with night vision, thus have a descent helmet setup.
I wonder if you’ve tried both AMP Arms mount (arms that clamp headphones from behind the helmet) and Peltor Adaptors (wires that clamp headphones from helmet side).
If you have, which one do you recommend? The voices on the internet are incredibly mixed regarding the two and both look like very heavy investments, so I can’t just try one out.
That's a good question man and I may make a video on the difference to help folks. The short answer is it depends on your head/helmet/ear pro/budget. If your equipment/head/budget accommodate both setups, then it comes down to how well the setups protect your hearing. Peltors on the normal peltors adapters don't seal well on my head depending on how I twist my head. So I personally opt for the better system that actually seals well on my head. The amps also offer NFMI (check it out on their website) which is useful for me due to the different things I do.

I really like the MAWL-DA but like this as well. Both are excellent. Am curious if the new Eotech will be even better.
The middle gap is useful to adapt to agencies with the fixed A post. Know your holds. NGALS leak though. They need to fix that.
It's not just the fixed front sight post, if you put them in the middle like the RAID X/Xe you can't even put a front BUIS flipped down.
Yo Jon, so what is your “ first choice “ if not this? I would be considering this as a clip on Illuminator with a laser back up :)

@@thomaszhang3101that sounds like someone who shouldn't buy it for their little hands or use a pressure pad. Complex buttons? How? They are as simple as any other laser and if you want to do anything else you can make minor adjustments that are as simple as press the center button and then use up and down to adjust. Some baby toys are more complex.
What PEQ does the laser centered. And is this IR/NVG visible only or are there options to see it with the naked eye when needed. And what are these two options called. I’m very green. Thank you.

No clue
I would guess not until it's a standard issue for military/LE. It doesn't seem that this unit is being marketed for civilians, and I'm sure having to conduct a separate manufacturing process for a commercial version is not on their agenda right now.
Unless you are ok with an Airsoft version if this I would think not.

Hey I was hoping you wouldn't mind reassuring me as I plan on have a lieutenant from my local PD get with procurement and purchase one on my behalf.. however I wouldn't dream of asking him to do anything unethical much less illegal.
To my understanding, it isn't illegal to posses a class III laser, however I can't purchase one since I'm a civilian.
I've already asked if he wouldn't mind and he had no problem with it, do you have any words of advice?

After further inquiries I've determined I would receive no support from L3 if serial number was registered and/or acquired through my LEO contact... furthermore it could put the procurement officer in hot water with L3 if they found a registered class III in the possession of a civilian enthusiast.
And as I had mentioned before, although my family friend who's willing to aquire on behalf is still willing and able I was advised through other avenues it could land his department procurement office in hot water should I require OEM support in the future..
How should I approach this sir?
@@Snozzelquaf I’m LE and I found a distributor that helped me purchase direct from l3. They’re hard to find because a lot of distributors are sticklers but they’re out there.
If you’re not MIL or LE then you’re not gonna be able to get it warrantied if L3 finds out. If it were me, I would not risk my friends position and relationship with l3 to get a restricted laser that way. I just got mine and will test it tn under nods to see if it’s really worth it but at the end of the day, a full power peq15 or LA5 will do the same thing just weigh more and have an uglier Illuminator. I still love my peq15. If I were you, and you really want an ngal, save an extra 2 grand and buy one private sale. You still can’t get it warrantied but you won’t be jeopardizing your buddy in the process. If not, you can find peq15s for 1500-2000 all the time. They’re awesome proven units. Just my 2 cents

What is your first choice of laser?
Ok if money wasn’t a factor and you already have a Rattler in 300 blk with a maw c1+ on it. What laser would you pick for a 16” rifle (LPVO with red dot offset) - NGAL, another C1+, or another FP laser on the grey market?
Depends on how you're using the lpvo. If you plan to shoot it on 1x you may have obstructions with a box laser

@@5jjt depends on your needs and budget man. I usually use a mawl but have used my raidx as well.

I use a raidx and a mawl most of the time. Those are my preferred. As for night vision, as long as it has L3 intensifies tubes I'm in. Housings just have features.

Do some research but if I’m not wrong you get it from the gray market because it shouldn’t be illegal to buy and own as a US civilian, it’s only illegal to sell. I myself am not 100% sure about all the places you can find NGALs but one place you can try is EBay. If you find any other sources to find NGALs please let me know
Thanks for the video. Although that last sentence “hopefully that’s GOOD ENOUGH for you guys” REALLY concerned me. How much will this run you?
3000-3500 if you can buy direct from L3 with the help of a cool distributor. Need to be MIL or LE tho. 5000-6000 private sale is what I’ve seen usually
Thanks for the video. I have one that I got on trade. was told it was brought back from Afghanistan. Just put batteries in it to see if it even worked and visible laser works fine. I'm not able to see any IR activity (using my iphone... I don't yet have any kind of night vision device). I see nothing with phone in video mode. should I be able to? (also, I have not yet removed the safety screws and tried the higher settings of the selector switch. honestly, didn't even know about the safety screws until tonight watching a couple videos... Any advise you can give me to help me test the IR functionality would be much appreciated.

Ogl isn't available so I couldn't say and the ngal and raid are pretty much the same. Look at both and their features and make your decision.
