I can’t wait to make these joggers 🏃♀️ as I have said in my previous comments I started sewing September 2020 and although I’m American I started measuring in both inches and centimeters although I as well do find that centimeters is more accurate as well and u just confirmed it!! Thank you Alicia
For sure, Patricia! Although I am ok with inches, I know that I make less mistakes with cm, as math is so much easier when you don't have to deal with fractions :)
I grew up during the period when my country was switching to metric from imperial, so switching between the two is something I do a lot. I think the education system may have failed me (or I failed it) because I am very measurement-blind and couldn’t estimate size to save my life
I love joggers. Fortunately I have a tried and true pattern I purchase from an Indie pattern company. The pattern is so awesome that I’ve made 4 pair of joggers from it. You did a great tutorial for drafting these.
Right?! It is amazing when you have that super awesome pattern that fits just right and you can make time and time again! I love it! And joggers are so comfy, oh, and check out the Members Extra video for these some ideas to make them a bit more city ready :)
Hi, I truly enjoy your tutorials, you don't give irrelevant information, and get to the point ! You're awesome. I was wondering if you can give a tutorial on making a maternity blouse out of a bodice block or from scratch 😏😏😏 pleaseeee!
I am an inexperienced sewer (started about a year ago). As one other has said I am a not a fan of numbers, but I do love the way you explain and show us how to. I have followed your tutorials and made one hoodie the one with only two pattern pieces, one for me and one for a friend. Now after a year I will start to write down my own numbers and tro to make something a little more fitted. thank you making it possible to sew and make patterns without the numbers.
I would actually want to try this, but knowing me, I'll have to watch this video like 10 times b4 I start 🙈🙈😂😂😂. I like using both cms and inches because it makes some measurements much much easier 😊
Absolutely! Shanaaz, I know you can do it :) you already made some beautiful things! So you can totally do it, one step at a time, I know people play/pause my vids so they can write things down - so maybe that will help! :)
Haven't had much time to sew for a while now, but always enjoy the videos and I learn something - I appreciated seeing the process of using the measurement template to draft. Akso, I like joggers a lot. To me the actually look like straight legged pants with cuffs and strtchy waistband. Maybe that's why they seem so much dressier than sweats? Anyone else have ideas? Anyway, I will be making time this week to sew. The biggest problem right now is that I have so many ideas I want to do that I'm having a hard time focusing. Still have a sleeve draft to perfect and an almost wearable toile to tidy up, but I do want to try pants so badly! Never enough time to do it all, *chuckle!*
Here is a really good Members Extra about understanding pants and how they work, comes with a reference sheet, which is very handy - ua-cam.com/video/Z3nUZ6zkarE/v-deo.html
Thank you Alisa for your wonderful tutorials that have me hooked since beginning to drafting patterns. I love this video, your whole outfit and I can’t wait to making the pants, along with a t-shirt too. Great channel 👍
Ok, the part I wanted to see is how to actually sew on the bands to the bottom and waist and top of the shirt. Do you have a video for that part? Love these!
Love this outfit. Liked watching the production of it. ?? When you sew a slightly different outfit than another one you’ve made, do you draft a new pattern??
Fran, hello there! If it is a variation of the garment - then no, for example - longer/shorter or etc. Most of the times I work off of the pattern blocks anyway, so that is quick and easy :)
I bought the same fabric as is your shirt. I made a little girls dress. Now they're out of it so I had to deactivate the listing on my Etsy shop. Beautiful fabric.
Hi, these look so comfy! I am wondering if you would be able to make a video on pattern drafting like this for a misshaped body form and how you would accommodate that in a pattern? I have a huge hernia on my stomach from above my belly button to the start of my crotch (about 35cm) and my stomach thus pops out to the left side. This means my stomach measurement is bigger by quite a bit than my hip measurement. It also means the front half of the pants must be bigger than the back half to be able to have seams running on the side and not stretching toward my stomach area. Can you help perhaps with some guidelines or ideas or things to look out for? I am a beginner.
Maria, hello there! You sure can, it just depends on what you mean by yoga pants. If you want your yoga pants to be form fitting and tight then you will need to adjust this pattern as it is not as tight, I have a video for drafting leggings, that might suit your needs better
I really enjoy a few of ur videos bc I'm new to ur channel. I do not make clothes, I do handbags. But I would love to make clothes someday. Thank u for ur tutorials. I will continue to watch. Can u recommend a beginner video from u that can help me? I just subscribed
Open google - type in "conversion of inches to cm's" - write it down for yourself and put it into a protector sheet, take a piece of tape and attach it in a visible place in your sewing space. Do it once - and you won't have a problem moving forward.
You are so talented & have alot of patience! 😊 There is this one dress you made called Hana Dress, I was looking through your videos to see if you have a tutorial but I didn't see one. Or perhaps do you have it in your membership program? 🤔
Hello there, If I remember right- unfortunately I made that dress years before i even started my UA-cam and it was from an Indie pattern and the design wasn't very good. I don't have a tutorial for it.
I love joggers so muuuch!!! But you kill me with all that geometry 😭😭 i just freeze with numbers, i really suck at maths and something simple as that, freaks me out. I'll keep the copying for now. About the joggers, i'll see if i can do something 😅
Well... you have to do the math in order to do pattern drafting :( Go back 2 years in my videos - you will find super simple tops you can draft, and open the infobox - there are links to simple pants tutorials, but in any pattern drafting you gotta have some math. Just play/pause the video, write it down and I am sure that you will be able to do it! :)
OMG.... I went to answer your comment and it disappeared! :( I know you can do it Bianca, 100%, just give it a try, and don't rush yourself - just give yourself time to process the information, take it one step at a time. YOU CAN DO IT :)

Hello there, It is called medical tracing paper - I get a roll on amazon every so often, it last a while. Most of my videos have a link for it in the description for it and some other tools (not this one, though).

Any suggestions to make a joggers 2 sizes smaller ( it was too big when purchased for me ) I started by removing the waist band because I have to make the waist smaller
You can draft the pattern like she shows, then draw the shape on the same pieces and take it in where needed. This is actually why I'm here, to learn to draft the pattern to reduce the size of all my clothes (recently, I dropped 85 lbs)
You can be just as precise using the US system. There are measurements smaller than the typical ruler shows. The idea that metric is more precise is a fallacy.
Hello there and welcome to the Memberships! Men, actually do have curves and hips, at times they are just less pronounced. You can see in this tutorial that for my kid It is just a straight side seam as the difference between waist and hips is not that big, therefore you would do the same ua-cam.com/video/DIiKTmO1Pz0/v-deo.html Curves, darts and etc - are determined by the differences in measurements, if there is no difference or if the difference is minimal - you won't have the curved line. Please watch this Members Extra video about pants and how to understand pants and you will be able to make your own from there -ua-cam.com/video/Z3nUZ6zkarE/v-deo.html
