    Ya know, I heard an expression that goes, "when the fisherman can't go out and fish, he stays ashore and repairs his nets" and thanks to you, now I have a way to do just that. Cuz I can't sew on my machine at this moment but I can definitely learn how to draft my own patterns in preparation for everything I want to sew when i am finally able to again. I'm very happy to have found your channel. Thank you and i wish you much continued success!

    Hi Alisa, I followed your instructions and completed from drafting to sewing basic easy pants. You are a gem with your instructions and show how to. Everything fits so well. I'd been hoping you'd make a basic pants pattern. I've been watching other videos about pants pattern draft that have been good still not positive I had it figured out. I knew you could do a video focusing on the bare basics I could work on before working up to more complex patterns.

    I did it!! Alisa, *thank you* for creating these videos (and hello neighbor, from another Tennessean 😊) My Mom used to sew many of my clothes, but I never asked her to teach me, which I deeply regret. I just sewed my first pair of pajama bottoms, from drafting to sewing, and because of your excellent videos, they are comfy, fit perfectly, and best of all are well-made! While there are lots of excellent sewing videos, yours are the first I’ve come across that teach drafting and various techniques of sewing to beginners. From the dialogue to the camera work, and of course the content - you are a wonder, young lady. I often find it hard to pick things up on UA-cam videos, but your instruction is so clear. Please continue to share your knowledge with those of us struggling to learn!
    So, next up, pajama tops from one of your summer top videos!

    So I’ve made these pants before and am revisiting the video to redraft it on some slightly more durable paper (instead of the original baking paper which is all sorts of messed up).
    This was the second garment I ever made and I still wear it all the time. I feel so proud of everything (minus the waistband which is a nightmare and I hope to do better this time!)
    Last time I measured this on my living room floor and now I’m doing it in my little dedicated craft corner and the amount of growth in the near…6 months(?) since my last draft of this just really evokes a sense of pride. As someone who has only owned a sewing machine since January, this video is superb.

    ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️thank you soooo much Alisa😊😊 because Everytime I try to make pants for me the front is still a bit bulky, I HAVE to try this one

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  2 роки тому +1

      Simple fix that might work for you is to reduce crotch length for the front and reduce width of your front leg pattern at the hips/waist. With that being said - you need to make sure there is enough width in the pants after you reduce the front pattern. Take the pants you already have and problem solve why the front is bulky - that will give you an understanding of what to adjust.

    Great tutorial! I can't wait to try this out! I was wondering when you added that 1/2 inch up from the waistband (@ 8:50 minutes) is that 1/2 inch the measurement one we should start with no matter what? Would we use a smaller measurement if we were making pants for a child? Thank you so much!!!

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  2 роки тому +2

      Joan, hello there! For kids the principle stays somewhat the same and you can start with 1/2" (taking it up) and if needed decrease it to 1/4". You will see that right away when you will try on the test garment if adjustment is needed. It is easier to cut away, than to do it all over again to add to it. It all depends on the comfort and size of the child. I have another member who made these pants for her daughter (I think maybe age 10-12yrs) - she was very happy with the fit and I think she left everything as is. Let me know how it goes and happy sewing!

    I made my own fleece pants. I will say there is always room for improvements. I feel pants are tricky than most things you can sew due to the fact you need to deal with negative space.

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  2 роки тому

      That is totally normal, when you translate 2D into 3D, from pattern on a paper to actual garment - it is normal to make adjustments.

    You are sew creative. I shutter at the thoughr of taking my measurements.
    I have lost weight but I need to loose more. I need to get over it.😁

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  2 роки тому

      You can do it, sometimes the first step is the scariest one, but we need to make it, the only thing - if you're planning on loosing more you might want to wait just a bit, so that way you're not doing the same thing twice, however it could be a could practice.
