Quick tip - you can put hay bales around the base of the house to keep wind from blowing underneath. Theyre a really good temp fix and if you have a green thumb you can use them for growing flowers/food as well.
Yeah, I thought about that, too. I thought it would save heat and other "tiny housers" use that as a wind block for outdoor dogs (people with pet huskies or malamutes that do come inside occasionally).
Brings back a lot of memories, growing up in Winnipeg, Canada in the 60s. Miss those days. Here in Houston, it never snows, and rarely goes below 50 in the winter. Thanks for sharing.
Before the snow gets heavy and thick always run a line (e,twine, etc) to vehicle, garage/barn etc. Even to a neighbors house if close enough. It's considered a lifeline. Keeps you from getting lost.
Love a good storm! Even if it is through someone else's eyes. Glad your tiny home held up along with you in it. 👍 Watching the dogs play was So cute!! Def a good ending to the story.
I loved this! Glad everything was ok. My husband and I live part time in a park model trailer in SE Kentucky. I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's sort of the equivalent of a tiny home. We put a screened in front porch on it. It also has a loft for the grandkids when they visit. Have gone thru a couple of bad winters in it....I get my coffee, turn on our heater/fireplace and enjoy the peace. Hubby gets cabin fever within a couple of hours!! 😀 Best wishes and thank you for the video. (We're anchored down...you should be too!).
Not able to do with a tiny home, but our mobile home is anchored with dragline cable. We 90mph straightline winds here with tornadic weather a few years ago. It buckled the skirting, but the trailer stayed intact.
Wow so yummy yummy snow.. I love eat snow more and more.. My mouth is full with water when you shown white white pure fresh snow.. Thanx for video nice video
When we had the blizzard in 93 here in eastern Tennessee I had just moved to the mountains. Got snowed in and power was off or 9 days. Loved it. Used fireplace and a stand by kerosene heater for heat and cooked on my camping stove and gas grill. Had kerosene lanterns for light and had plenty of food. Played in the snow and went sledding!! Only downside I lost my tropical fish and had no fan to sleep with lol. It was so quiet u could hear pine trees breaking and falling. Since we knew we were going to have a bad storm we were prepared for it.
That wind sounds nasty but up here in Canada that snow would be considered a 'dusting' :) That looks like a good day to stay cozy, snuggle up with the dogs and read a good book :)

Greetings, We happen to live very close to a sub station and managed to keep power on. houses a mile down the road where out for over 24hrs as well! glad its over now.
It's dangerous going out at night in a snow storm. My husband stepped on a snow covered landscape log in the backyard and broke his ankle and leg. I was in the house cooking with the exhaust fan on and couldn't hear him. The back door was locked so he had to crawl around the front up the steps to the kitchen porch. If I hadn't had the kitchen door open with a glass storm door I wouldn't have seen him on the porch. We were in the middle of the biggest winter storm in a decade. Snow was deep. I couldn't get him to the car to go to emergency 1/2 mile away. Then I saw a neighbor shoveling snow and asked for help. He was a big man and scooped my husband up and carried him to our jeep. If not for the neighbor and my jeep we would have been in a bad spot. Be careful out there!

When there is weather like this up my way here in Canada, I find it is so relaxing when you're tucked into a nice warm area, listening to the wind howl outside.

I went out an hour before dark to tend to the barn animals, and the frozen rain water, building snow and 60+mph winds (gusts to 90+), made walking tough, and although I made it to the barn OK, I got lost on the 250 foot walk back to my house. If it hadn't been for the Eastern fence line, I might have gotten totally lost. I have an M35A2 Deuce and a half just for weather like this, but didn't have it parked properly, and had to be rescued by a friend with an LMTV military truck. My power was also out for about 30 hours, and it was 22* in my bedroom Thursday morning. I got caught with my pants down this time, and even if it doesn't happen again, I'll be much better prepared.
Good suggestion about running a rope line, just for these kind of storms. This one was a one day affair, wait for a three day event, those are alot of fun, 3' on the flat and drifts as high as the roof tops. Been through a couple over the last 30+ years I live just east of the Springs.

I was at the top of a hill and we suffered a severe thunderstorm that had windsheer just that tore up trees and flipped a 40 foot camper next to where we camped in a 21 foot camper. North OH/PA border born and raised. Many vicious winter storms over the years, including sub zero temps cold enough to stop our heating oil from flowing! Christmas of 1982, I was visiting family in Denver. It started snowing around 3pm Christmas eve, and by 9 pm there was a good 10 inches. By morning, it was bright sunshine, and 24 inches of snow! The whole region got dumped on. Guess how we spent Christmas morning. You guessed it - shoveling snow! On all the freeways and streets, 4 wheel drive trucks were the only vehicles that could move, and once wheel ruts were established, cars began to use the ruts. It was insane for days just trying to drive anywhere.
Glad I waz headed to Texas when the storm hit. Saw the signs avout the storm in Nebraska. 2 couple days before the storm. Good video. Good to see he made thru the storm
I spent the night in the Ford. Gave up after 10hrs trying to get to DT from Denver. Due to all the closures and wrecks and abandoned cars, I wound up in Kiowa. Just gave up when the sun went down. Slept like a baby in the Ford. Woke up 7hrs later. Sunny morning and eased on in to DT. That was a great video. See at the next Bomb Cyclone event.
I Lived in My Park Model Travel Trailer a few years back in Michigan we had a really bad winter i put plastic over the windows and Blankets i used 2 portable Propane Heaters and a Wood Stove when it was 20 below out side it was 60 / 65 inside i used my propane heaters in the Middle of the night i Made a Trailer Skirt to go around the bottom of my park model trailer out of Treated Plywood it made a big difference i insulated the floor with insulation Bord and the Walls that also made a really big difference just a few things that you can do to help heat the house in the winter i have 2 types of electricity solor power and i have electric hooked up to my shop from my shop to my trailer i usually run off my solor power but i use the electric to save the solor power in winter for Backup

I TOTALLY get it! I have a tiny house too and I’ve been through many. The wind is what freaks me out. I haven’t filmed one yet. I should though. Thanks for the idea! I’ll post the video when I get another blizzard.
As a person who lives in Florida and works in hurricane preparation and disaster restoration I always get a kick out of what other people consider bad weather. It is truly laugh-out-loud funny.
We had Cat 2 hurricane force winds with this storm, was not good at times while trying to make it home....I say this as a native Floridian, it was not laughable.
@@jacobsinger97 on well water. 350 feet deep. fresh and clean. have power and just enough cell service to have internet. no land lines or cable out this far.
I can appreciate your video even more since we went through the worst winter storm in Texas since 1905. Temperature was down to 9-15 degrees with feel like temperatures in the -0 area for 2 days. No power and they cut off water to the subdivisions. Thank God we had a box of hand warmer packets and natural gas on the kitchen stove.
cold spring YES!!! Thank you. Here in Nova Scotia we call that " A real bad Blizzard". Three categories. 1) a blizzard. 2 ). A bad blizzard. 3). A real bad blizzard. Anything higher than that we call Armageddon.
I've lived in SW Missouri for decades now and all I can say is: Thank God for wood stoves!! Ice storms have robbed us of power for weeks more than a couple times and they are literally life and power bill savers! Fireplaces just aren't the same. I enjoyed the video tho and look forward to checking out more of your content.
our full size house is getting a real wood stove. I just didn't have the space in this little home for one. we don't have as many trees here, so less power outages.... but i wish we had trees to block some wind!
I was searching for tiny house videos and came across your channel. Instantly subscribed because of the name 😊 and thoroughly enjoyed your video. I live in Northern Utah and I found out on Saturday that my ex has decided to sell our house. I'm scrambling to find somewhere to live. I've been intrigued with tiny houses for months now and I'm tempted to buy a small lot of land and have a tiny house built on it. Going from a 2,500 sq ft house to a tiny house would definitely take time to get used to, but I'm tired of the big utility bills and the upkeep on a large house. I need to downsize and simplify.
Welcome and thanks for the subscribe! It is a challenge to down size. we went pretty extreme from 1700 down to 200 sqft. but we are building a 800sqft foundation house as our permanent home. this space is a little tight for our full family of six lol
Your tiny house weathered well. I lived 80 mile north of Syracuse (Watertown) for a few years-- this brought back COLD memories. Thanks for sharing. :)

You need to plant tiny trees out there for tiny wind breaks. I'd make a tiny garage for a tiny car too. Maybe if you add on a tiny expansion onto the barn you could pull your tiny home into it to survive for a tiny time during the next bomb cyclone.
Sitting inside with a fireplace, drinking hot tea or coffee with a big stockpot of soup on the stove and baking bread. That's my idea of winter. And just enjoying life.
Note...Awning or porch over front door AND 3 little steps to get in...come on there's a fall to happen. Cute place 🌸 Got to get use to Prepping for winter 😆 Thanks for the view 🤗🤗🤗

Explosive cyclogenesis (also referred to as a weather bomb, meteorological bomb, explosive development, bomb cyclone or bombogenesis) is the rapid deepening of an extratropical cyclonic low-pressure area. The change in pressure needed to classify something as explosive cyclogenesis is latitude dependent. A winter storm is an event in which varieties of precipitation are formed that only occur at low temperatures, such as snow or sleet, or a rainstorm where ground temperatures are low enough to allow ice to form (i.e. freezing rain).
With the new GEOENGINEERED Storms, could be a new name to go with them. They didn't exist or do all the spraying until 2000's so they came out with new cloud names, too. Should just call them chemical storms
Then you clearly never had of "explosive cyclogenesis" or "bombogenesis", which is nicknamed "bomb cyclone" defined as a 24mb or more drop in pressure in 24 hours. The Colorado "bomb cyclone" was the strongest storm in the state, setting record low pressure readings across the state. A "normal blizzard" doesn't have hurricane-force winds and pressure readings about the equivalent of a Category 2 hurricane. And you act like millennials are still little kids, the oldest of millennials are in their mid or late 30's now.
This would be a great vacation for me. Snowed in, fire, food, coffee, Solitude.

It was insane for days just trying to drive anywhere.
sounds like that was quite a Christmas storm!
@@LifeofLind Here on UA-cam there are videos of that storm. It was the earliest days of home video cameras.
Glad I waz headed to Texas when the storm hit. Saw the signs avout the storm in Nebraska. 2 couple days before the storm. Good video. Good to see he made thru the storm
You just missed it! all the roads where closed.
Sounds like you had quite the experience! Thanks for watching!
Hello Life Of Lind , man that was a bad blizzard , but you looked real cozy in your little house there , good job !!! 👍😃
Thank you, very comfortable inside here!
@@LifeofLind Your Welcome , I know it does look comfortable & I'm jealous that I would like to have a little home like that !! 😃👍
Really nice self built home. So cute You are braver than I would have been parked up against a building for support.
I Lived in My Park Model Travel Trailer a few years back in Michigan we had a really bad winter i put plastic over the windows and Blankets i used 2 portable Propane Heaters and a Wood Stove when it was 20 below out side it was 60 / 65 inside i used my propane heaters in the Middle of the night i Made a Trailer Skirt to go around the bottom of my park model trailer out of Treated Plywood it made a big difference i insulated the floor with insulation Bord and the Walls that also made a really big difference just a few things that you can do to help heat the house in the winter i have 2 types of electricity solor power and i have electric hooked up to my shop from my shop to my trailer i usually run off my solor power but i use the electric to save the solor power in winter for Backup
sounds like you stayed warm and cozy
Your opening was a "holy crap" moment! I'd of hunkered down at a window with a pot of coffee for sure. Ain't goin nowhere! With winds like that I'm glad your house was ok. OMG, Dogs at end were great, knuckleheads... rollin around in the snow... lol
there was a lot of those holy crap moments that night lol
Wow....i live in Florida and I can't even imagine how cold that must have been!! Love your channel so far hope to see more videos.
We have seen much colder, it was the wind that was the real issue. thanks for watching!
Great video.. The best was the dog's of course. Lol.. I think you have a touch of o.c.d. A little snow falls in the house n you referred to it as a mess.. Lol. I only know that because I have o.c.d. I would have said the same thing.. 😉 What a lovely place.. 👍❤🙋🐶
I TOTALLY get it! I have a tiny house too and I’ve been through many. The wind is what freaks me out. I haven’t filmed one yet. I should though. Thanks for the idea! I’ll post the video when I get another blizzard.
I love filming weather so it was just a natural thing for me. good luck!
As a person who lives in Florida and works in hurricane preparation and disaster restoration I always get a kick out of what other people consider bad weather. It is truly laugh-out-loud funny.
WE live on the edge of tornado alley so bad storms are no stranger to us. the snow just makes it pretty
We had Cat 2 hurricane force winds with this storm, was not good at times while trying to make it home....I say this as a native Floridian, it was not laughable.
Glad the you made it through the bomb cyclone. That was nuts. Been in CO all my life and have never seen anything like that.
I love the quietness of snow falling.
I’d be chilling long as I got WiFi
we can manage to get a little internet out this way haha
@@LifeofLind do u have internet..fresh water and electricity supply sir??
@@jacobsinger97 on well water. 350 feet deep. fresh and clean. have power and just enough cell service to have internet. no land lines or cable out this far.
I can appreciate your video even more since we went through the worst winter storm in Texas since 1905. Temperature was down to 9-15 degrees with feel like temperatures in the -0 area for 2 days. No power and they cut off water to the subdivisions. Thank God we had a box of hand warmer packets and natural gas on the kitchen stove.
Oh wow! I had heard how bad it was down there!
From Texas, it was pretty cold for sure no electric, good thing we have a fireplace.. We not use to cold like that
we used to call em winter storms
80-90mph winds are not that normal. It doesn't have to snow in feet.
yeah, not much snow. but the wind was crazy
Not ANY normal winter storm. The element of hurricane wind levels changes everything.
cold spring YES!!! Thank you. Here in Nova Scotia we call that " A real bad Blizzard". Three categories. 1) a blizzard. 2 ). A bad blizzard. 3). A real bad blizzard. Anything higher than that we call Armageddon.
In my area there were 109 miles per hour winds. That is not a winter storm.
I live in the mtns of MA, we get snow till June then again in Fall... And ALOT of it, I still love the stuff! Glad you made it ok
Wow!!! I love fall and winter season...I imagine your beautiful mnt views❤
@@GigiRuizPrivateA3 Yes they are gorgeous.
That was fierce. Glad there was no damage or harm done to your place.
Thanks, Other locations had it much worse.
Omg I love being snowed in. And I’m dying to live in a tiny home. So this is a dream to me
it's a very efficient way to live. and who doesn't like a good snow storm!
Stop opening the front door. Your letting the heat out and cold in.
Your tiny house weathered well. I lived 80 mile north of Syracuse (Watertown) for a few years-- this brought back COLD memories. Thanks for sharing. :)
She has been through a lot of weather. thanks for watching
My daughter and son in law visited Denver for their vacation. They live in Houston. They were in Denver during your “ Bomb Cyclone”. They couldn’t fly out for a week. So now they’ve Survived Hurricane Harvey in Houston and Denver’s Bomb Cyclone. LOL.
I live on a small boat and we've had five storms I as many weeks here in the UK. I wish we'd had snow all we've had is torrents of rain a gale force winds. I love the snow and I love your little home.
Thanks! I wish we had a little boat in the ocean!
Boy! It didn't take long for the term ' bomb cyclone ' to become part of the vernacular .
No lie. It's annoying
Derecho and polar vortex have become passe'...
It sure sounds furious! Looks good out there tho, thick snow. I hope you have food stock in there, you may be snowed in. The dogs love it. Thanks for sharing.
We always have supply on hand. Thanks for watching!
That got to be real cold out in that snow ! I believe i would stay in were its warm ! Lol !
nice and toasty inside!
Tie that house really well, bring in the dogs, and weather the storm in a nice comfy, cozy little house.
Great opportunity to study English sentence structure or read a book, too!
To anyone reading this. I wish nothing but blessings and health and happiness. Wealth is physical and anyone can achieve that. Y’all stay strong n everything else will fall into place! Peace love and happiness to everyone that sees this !! 🤟🏽✨
You too☺️
Why didn't you anchor it, we knew about this thing here in Aridzona. Four pet anchors from PetSmart and some bolts and chains. What chew been doing all day young man.
In the 90s here all this week. A blizzard sounds pretty good right now.
Anchor your house. And get a small wood stove. Although, I didn't see many trees. Coal works.
Yup.... gotta have a back up heat source for sure.
we have two heat sources, one runs from solar and LP, the other is electric.
@@LifeofLind 🔥 😉
But be careful with carbon monoxide poisoning...
@@SandsOfArrakis Our stuff is direct vented outside so i'm not to worried, but we do have a carbon monoxide detector and a propane leak detector as well.
Watching from sunny Australia, but.....feeling chillie just watching ...glad that you are safe.
I could use a little warm weather from down there
The fact that your not anchored down is scary i've got my fingers crossed for you all
Wow this looks eerie and beautiful. Love naughty weather. Rain, storm hurricane tornadoes, blizzards, bomb cyclones, (not tsunami) that's much too vicious, thunder lightning snow storm and the like!. - Not too much damage done come morning. The puppies love playing in the snow. Look really happy. Are You sure this is a tiny house? Oh yes, I can see the tiny house now. Thanks for sharing.
We love crazy weather too. thanks for the comment
Been in Alaska where literally had to tunnel out of my house and some houses all you could see was their chimmneys
ALASKA LOSERS🤯
Whoa
Reagan Morgan I’ll bet the snow insulates the house nicely, always look for the silver lining😉
You have a beautiful place there but I could never live in that kind of weather no matter how beautiful. 😁❤ Stay safe and warm friend.
Thank you! You too!
Why do dogs love snow so much? I was freezing just watching!
They do love the cold snow, makes them happy!
Yes dogs get cold too but they love playing in the snow and I love watching them I love this
I'm Russell Lind I'm Tiny house lover in living South Dakota . that a very nice. Home site you have wonderful
Awesome! Thank you! And welcome!
We love to visit the black hills, some of our favorite places up there!
New subscriber here. Looks like a blast to me! Love your tiny little house!
Thanks so much!
greetings from north carolina ,where we didn't have 1 itty bitty snow flake this year . dogwoods and daffodils
azaleas and redbud are on the edge of a full bloom ,sending you warm sunny thoughts and flip flop fantasies .
I wish we would of had more snow and less wind, need the spring time moisture!
You need to plant tiny trees out there for tiny wind breaks. I'd make a tiny garage for a tiny car too. Maybe if you add on a tiny expansion onto the barn you could pull your tiny home into it to survive for a tiny time during the next bomb cyclone.
Les S 😂 that is hilarious. Thank you.
Nasty, mean weather! Looking forward to spring.
Us too!
Good luck, stay safe, I live in Texas and have never seen anything like that.
Some days I wish i lived in Texas, like on this day!
@@LifeofLind yessir brother, the winter can't be beat. about 67 or 70 even today.
Excellent nite in the snow.It looks like the tiny house was ready for mr winter
it does stay quite comfortable in there, even when it's bellow zero.
I was afraid your tiny house would blow over, hope there are windows on the other side to get out of if it did happen.
plenty of places to escape if that happened, we will be adding anchors soon.
Me to glass of wine and I don't drink but sounds good with a fire and music I am all set I suppose my husband can be here lol
Yup! Drifts show how much wind you had more than how much snow you had. And your land is rather flat I assume. Then it will drift and drift and drift.
yup, we are in the high plains, nothing stopping the wind here.
This is so cool it looks cozy to me wow your so lucky to live in a tiny home with a blizzard sounds so exciting wish I was there
it was pretty intense!
This was SO interesting!
Thanks for watching!
Sitting inside with a fireplace, drinking hot tea or coffee with a big stockpot of soup on the stove and baking bread. That's my idea of winter. And just enjoying life.
As long as my wifey is with me, oh and coffee..But I need that woman 😂😂
Us ladies carry the heat if ya know what I mean lol
Note...Awning or porch over front door AND 3 little steps to get in...come on there's a fall to happen. Cute place 🌸 Got to get use to Prepping for winter 😆 Thanks for the view 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for the tips!
Wow, you have a furnace in the “Tiny Home”? May I ask why you didn’t get a wood stove to keep the place warm? No criticism, just curious. Stay safe....God Bless you in that cute, cozy cabin of yours! 🙏🏼👍🏼❤️👋🏼🇨🇦Cheers!🍻🌞
Furnace was free to me, I also needed something that would be easy and safe around toddlers.

Now living in Atlanta to me the weather here is ok they only have a season and a half but growing up in Niagara Falls snow snow snow. Well stay safe and take care.
Happy Holidays
thanks for watching! merry Christmas
Just a simple plain old Blizzard. I know Bomb Cyclone sounds cool to the Millennial Mind but there is no such thing.
Science
End result..blizzard...science
Lmao 😂 I love the picture u painted!! Espically the pastries 🥮 👍🏽♥️
