Thank you Tom for immersing in Pasil. I was born and grew up in Cebu City. Back then, Pasil has been known for haven of drugs, robbery and a dangerous area. Great video and your open, friendly, non judgemental attitude really showed the locals you were genuine and interested in their area and lives. It seems in the Philippines the poorer and less the people have, the more friendly and accommodating they are willing to give what little they have. In many cultures the wealthy become selfish and untrusting due to money. The people of the Philippines are very special and Western culture could learn a lot from them.

I like this vlog, its show the every day life of the people that live there, its always nice to see both sides of the country, away from the tourist areas where we all see most of the time, well done Tom on this excellent vlog.
What a beautiful part of the Philippines Tom thanks so much for sharing. Beautiful people and so friendly 😇. Love to see the unknown with you and you do it very well. Great tour Tom, looking forward to more 👍
Mr Hogan....and next... go from the Mandaue side of the Old Bridge and roam around under the bridge on the Mandaue side first, see the dock workers, the big scrap heap and that submerged yacht in the water, then walk across the bridge to Pusok on the Lapu Lapu side, (the shots from the top of the bridge half way across will be epic). then when across lapu lapu side, go down the stairs leading to go under the bridge again where it meets the water. Will be another good vlog for you. (Thank me Mr Blair laters 😎 with a red horse.) 🥳 keep going mate, the vlogs are going good. 👍

That was very interesting. Love the horse and carriage ride very cool. Very nice people there wanting to share food with you. Everyone seemed very nice.
Tom, you are so down to earth. No wonder everyone responds so positively towards you. And I think the main reason why the girls were giggling/laughing is that they are tickled that they are conversing in English with you. I noticed this about most Msians too when they interact with westerners, esp. if they are not conversant in the language. I’m a new subscriber from Malaysia; I follow Meljean as well 😘

Ive just subscribed. This is so entertaining showing your adventure in a slum area interacting with the locals. So nice. The peple there are friendly and hospitable.
l like that your so genuine in your contents, although most people would want to showcase the beauty of the Philippines, however they some how have forgotten its our people that makes it even more beautiful..and that bravery of yours to go down to the slum area is really commendable... , l know its a reality in life here, in the Philippines, this is the true pic of most filipinos living in below poverty line... nothing to be ashamed of.....
I like how you interact to locals. Just talk to anyone and ask for info and they will try hard to answer your questions. The trash floating under the bridge needs to be cleaned-up.

Damn! With videos as interesting and revealing as this one i can't believe you don't have a whole lot more subscribers. You showed a side of the Philippines that very few Western travelers would ever see. I've only been to the Philippines once, back in 2018. While in Manila I spent a short time in Tondo, the city's biggest slum. I was met with smiling faces and people eager to pose for my camera. I would have spent more time there but Hurricane Mangkut, which crashed into northern Luzon, created high winds and driving rain that seriously threatened the life of my camera. The winds got so strong that I couldn't hold an umbrella to protect my camera gear so I cut my visit short.
