- Classic Japanese ginger pork (Shogayaki) recipe. Tender sliced pork loin in a sweet ginger sauce, Ginger Pork is one of my favorite homemade dishes. Ready in 20 minutes!
PRINT RECIPE ▶ www.justonecookbook.com/ginge...
INGREDIENTS
1 knob ginger (2", 5 cm; 100 g)
½ onion (140 g)
¾ lb (340 g) thinly sliced pork loin (I use sliced pork for "ginger pork" from a Japanese grocery store; If you can't find paper-thin meat, slice the meat on your own. See the tutorial on how to cut meat paper-thin.)
1 Tbsp sake (for pork)
1 Tbsp all-purpose flour (plain flour) (for pork)
1-2 Tbsp neutral-flavored oil (vegetable, rice bran, canola, etc) (for cooking)
freshly ground black pepper (optional sprinkle at the end)
Ginger Sauce
2 Tbsp soy sauce
2 Tbsp mirin
2 Tbsp sake
1 tsp sugar

@@justonecookbook good week to you girl
Always great stuff!!
I purchased your cookbook a number of years ago. Do you sell a hard copy?
Is their a way to update the online cookbook with all your new material?
Thank you for all your hard work and bringing us into your culture and foods.
I really enjoy it all.
I do, and now I have vol. 2. (amzn.to/2XCBlt1). Hope you enjoy! So happy to hear you are enjoying cooking Japanese food.
Ginger pork is actually one of my favorites to make. It’s quick, easy and the beautiful aroma and taste of the ginger mixed with the succulent taste of pork is absolutely delicious. Then you add cabbage and rice and it’s just beautiful! I like to add a few shiitake mushrooms and the juicy taste is just … I’m hungry now
So happy you like this dish too!
@@justonecookbook I have followed ur cooking tips and book for a very long time. Honestly I’m a BIG fan :)
i need that grater thing
❤❤❤
Good morning 🌻🌻🌻
Morning! Thanks for watching!
Where did you get the white ceramic dish that you grind an onion?
Looks delish! What’s the little thing of what looks like salad dressing?
The little container? It has sesame dressing in it. 🤗
hello thank you for sharing your recipe, can I request the recipe of pickled radish (the one that is used as appetizer in any meal in Japan) it was sliced thinly. thank you
www.justonecookbook.com/pickled-daikon/ You can thinly slice too. :)
This looks like a great alternative to using pork belly to save some calories. Have you ever tried this recipe with something like thinly-sliced beef brisket or rib-eye? The same sort of cut you might use for Korean BBQ.
Using the knife to skin the ginger like that will result in the knife getting dull much faster and quite unevenly. I suggest using a spoon to skin ginger! Thank you for the video and recipe!
I am not well versed in Japanese cuisine and would like to know what did you serve it with? I see a white sauce and thinly sliced cabbage, soup, rice and pickled veggies?? Thank you for recipe.
Shredded cabbage is commonly served for ginger pork in Japan. And you see a little container of sesame dressing. I also served with rice, miso soup, and cucumber pickles.
Hi. Is this one of those dishes that tastes better if eaten a day after it's cooked?
We eat the day of, but can be still eaten next day.
The dish looks delicious, but grating all that ginger looks めんどくさい ha ha! I will have to buy that grating plate!
Beautiful woman can cook well!
Thank you for your kind words. I eat well too. 🤪
@@justonecookbook Great! I just subscribed to you. It seems you have a lot of Japanese foods to cook. I'm interested in cooking several of them. All I know how to cook is Japanese ramen Nissin Roah.
Wonderful! Thank you for subscribing! I have variety of recipes on the website (more than UA-cam), so please check it out. I'll be happy to help!
@@justonecookbook You got it!
I lived in Japan for a year and often visited a store called Daisy. Where can I find those inexpensive items here in the states and is their a comparable store franchise that carries those items?
Thank u
I'm sorry I wish I know... is it a dollar store type of store?
Do you mean Daiso?
@@demandrius yes maybe you are right… 🤪
I'm not sure where you live, but there are Daiso in the US. :)
@@justonecookbook ok I’ll check. I live in New Jersey.
What's the sauce you served it with?
That's sesame dressing for the shredded cabbage. 🤗
Just wondering, Does the meat have to be thin or can it be thick?
I explained a bit more in the blog post. It should be thin.
Can young children use sake and mirin?
It has to be evaporated before using, but avoid for baby.
👍😊💖
Thank you for watching!
I swore I would take a break from cooking asian dishes almost every day, my german boyfriend longs for his homefood. And now Namiko posts another sweet video recipe! Sorry not sorry german boyfriend.
