I've got the H/K system too. I've not perfected my EQ yet, but I've gotten close to what sounds decent. I'm torn on whether or not to enable Surround Sound. Surround Sound can make some details pop, but it also makes the equalizer way brighter. With Surround Sound on, I find -6/+1/-1 sounds balanced.
Turning down the bass helped tremendously. It was way too boomy even at 0/0/0. I'm not certain about the mid and treble, but they don't need to go far off from 0. I'm still tuning these, but bass is for sure somewhere between -5 and -8, mid is between -2 and +3, and treble is between -4 and +1.

Totally agree here, I own the RT version with this same upgrade. The system is severely lacking. The rear sub only performs well with the Vol up(20+ on the dial) and on songs that actually have good amount of bass in them. The doors bump more than the rear in most cases, so much so the mirrors will shake. Sadly the door feels more of the kick than you will. All of this sadly is when you have your own music going through, turn on the XM radio or AM/FM and the bass literally disappears all together. I would not suggest this upgrade option to anyone. Spend the money on your own upgrades.
Ouuf would love to hear The Midnight - Los Angeles or Sunset, two great tracks! Also FM84 - Running in the night! You'll be the king of the road with those tracks ;) Sunset has some great L-R panning sounds you could try for your surround. How is classical music? I'm planning on the Subaru Forester and Outback with Harman Kardon or Seat/Cupra with DrDre's Beats, but feel H&K is the best one!
I bet they're counting a coaxial door speaker as 2 individual speakers. Most people don't, but I guess technically it's 2 speakers with one speaker enclosure.
How does the alpine sound compared to this. The harman/kardon on the durango is more bass heavy the clarity but for most people it will sound ok.
man i finally decided to look for a new 2020 durango srt, but ends up so limited around new york area.... looks like im gonna have to wait till next year, seem like they have better interior next year

Nice ride. I was wondering where those missing speakers were in the grand Cherokee as well. Back in the day a 6 by 9, with a driver, and tweeter combo equaled 1 speaker. For today’s overblown marketing it equals 2 🤷🏻♂️. Any stereo with the equalizer set to zero everywhere is going to sound blended.

Actually those midrange have integrated tweeter and believe their two subwoofer
I had a 2013 Citadel with an Alpine sound system. My 2022 Citadel has the Harmon Kardon system reviewed here. The HK is okay. But it lacks the richness that my Alpine system had even after working with that equalizer, balance and fade and the other audio controls. Maybe Alpine’s experience with automobile sound systems is better than HK.
Anyone know what size the sub is?

The 19 speaker system sucks so bad. It is so weak and anemic. I had to replace the 10” sub with an aftermarket and add an amplifier to get some bass. The 10 speaker Alpine system has actual depth and bass.
I agree with all of your comments on the sound quality. I liked the 500 watt Alpine setup in my 17 JGC better than this $1200 optional Harmon Kardon in my new JGC. They are using the same subwoofer - probably too much power for that small sub. The bass is not tight at all just a mushy pos. Overall Sound is just ok but disappointing for a 1.2k sound system.
Edit: the HK equalizer needs to be adjusted to provide optimum sound. The HK sounds great with corrected EQ settings esp. on Bluetooth streaming music.
The 10 speaker Alpine shits all over the 19 speaker HK.
@@bob-a-louannamaria7960 Streaming music from my iPhone Bluetooth the HK sounds great - better than the alpine after settling up the equalizer correctly. I guess I need to edit my op.
I think your system was defective or your setting weren’t right or something. I have a few friends who have this setup and it’s sounds amazing that’s because I’m a audiophile. I hard it also depends on your files. USB cord from my phone sounds great but from Bluetooth or usb files sounds more compressed

I have the hellcat rango and I belive it's same set up speaker wise but man I am NOT IMPRESSED... maybe it's bc I'm listening to xm but all the way up with windows down you can barely hear it... I love listening to the supercharger whine don't get me wrong ... am I missing something in settings? Do I have to stream music to take advantage of the quality?thanks great review

I compared Harman cardon to jbl and jbl I'd way better I'm my opinion. Way louder more powerful bass
I think its the dated unsophisticated interior design of the car which probably hindered Harman Kardon in making better speaker locations and distribution to create better system performance and therefore better sound quality!

There is no excuse for this trash... They just made poor decisions regarding the amp, speaker materials, placement... It was just "How many speakers can we fit in this thing and how cheap can we make them"... They use a cardboard paper woofer for all of the speakers, and a mushy plastic for the tweeters...
Honestly for the $995 it cost I could have gotten a 8 speaker JBL Stadium setup, add 200 more and you can get a amp to actually power them.
I know they have a power profile to fit in (probably 15 or 20 amps) and they have space constraints (so shallow mounted small mags)... but don't blame the interior on poor quality materials.
