I’ve been drooling over this since I read about it last year. I’m a 61-year-old female that turns into a 13-year-old boy around muscle cars. I went from a Camaro to a van when we had kids, our youngest is 22, now I’m leaning towards a Challenger, but this idea makes me stupid happy.

@@fxbrianh Yeah, that's true. They would obviously need to modify the front end to fit the engine and toughen up the chassis to withstand the extra weight and tork. But it's possible to do it and still somewhat retain the look of a NEON. Who knows, they might actually be working on it right now for all we know.

I wouldn’t say it has aggressive styling, it’s rather subdued.
If it didn’t have stripes and it wasn’t red, I would say it had sleeper status. I think you can option both of those, so it’s not like it can’t be, even if this one isn’t.
@Shutbyotch I mean, if it was gray and didn’t have stripes, would most notice the badge? The paint is certainly the loudest thing about it to non-car people. Debadging it would make it more anonymous still, but people call the 550is and even the E63s of the world sleepers and those tend to have quite sporty badging on them. It all depends on how you define a term which has no super obvious definition. Is a car with performance badges on it but still a lowkey look a sleeper? I think so, probably.

With this thing you get a crazy fast SUV plus a happy wife. So, I see this is an absolute win!
I will take the “aged” analogue design all day long. The shifter has a tactile feel, real gauges, a simple flip up push button seat…yes definitely. Most importantly,it has an old school 710 hp engine that makes no apologies. You can tow your boat, bring your family on vacation, and run an 11 second 1/4. Insane. I just ordered a 2023 last call and can’t wait.

God that supercharger whine never gets old.
Fun fact, the shifter used to be a dial until there was a few people forgetting to put the car into park in the previous years. They had to switch back to typically shifter because people got hurt. Big mistake was the dail in the car that doesn't automatically shift into park if the driver door is opened without the seat belt.

In 5 years we create a vehicle capable of 900 hp, then, ten years after that we make an everyday work vehicle with a thousand horses at disposal. Then it’s the car that can’t be measured. And then there is Doc and Marty.
I'm on my third Durango with this body design. Absolutely love this SUV. They are amazing.

Doug there are racing stripes....
Also literally less than 5 minutes after he explains that the Hellcat Durango has specific styling including a custom bumper and splitter.
So as long as people have no idea what the Hellcat symbol is, don't notice the racing stripes, and don't notice any of the exterior styling changes, it's a total sleeper!
Stripes are optional even on low power V8’s. Most on the road won’t have them.

@@IRBork no average person is going to be able to look at the front or the "aero" and tell the difference between this and a normal Durango. And exaust note pretty much has no effect on it being a sleeper because you wont hear it AT ALL in normal day to day driving conditions

Especially for a car for only 80k, it is expensive by an average car but cheap compared to luxury cars

You do have a good point, the Tesla is faster and more modern, and I would say it is a better car. I referred to cars like the bmw x5m, and amg SUV’s are 130-150k, they are as quick as this, but have a lot more tech, this is older therefore more simple, and I like that

Dodge seems to be the only brand with the American Spirit guiding them. This vehicle is absolutely audacious. I have a 2019 RT and it's been a great vehicle for someone with a kid and two very large dogs who head up to the lake every weekend. I can only imagine how much fun the Hellcat is to drive.
I'm in love with this because I'm into car audio and fast cars. That will have enough room for a large sound system in the trunk if you fold down the 3rd row seats.
This "golden age of horsepower" is so much better than the last one.

I prefer some things left mechanical. Rear folding seats, parking break. I even prefer mechanical seat adjustment. Generally save weight, time, less gizmos to break.
Although keep in mind that Dodge isn't a reliable car brand unlike say Lexus.

It feels like the Durango Hellcat was designed for me. I hate driving sluggish SUV's but I live in Michigan so half the year it is greatly beneficial to have an SUV. I am definitely going to scoop one of these up as soon as I can. I cant think of a better match.
