There are actually four audio systems, but one is hidden inside of certain trim packages. There is the stock system, the Alpine 6 speaker with 276w amp, Alpine 9 speaker with 506w amp, and the Harman Kardon. The Alpine 6 is the hidden one... it's part of the plus package in the lower trims, and then it's the standard for the higher trims starting with the R/T Scat Pack. The "Alpine 6 Premium Speakers" are also not labeled as Alpine, and I hear they are only slightly better than the stock speakers.
@@willdogan I mean the speakers and amp themselves are not labeled as Alpine. If they really are Alpine, they're some sort of low grade OEM stock that Alpine doesn't put their name on. At least, this is what they were doing in 2015.
@@saygoodbyetoprivacy Yep. They have the Mopar pentastar symbol and "made in china" marked on them. The cone is poly instead of paper on the 6x9, and I was surprised by the heft of the magnet (6x9). Replaced all mine with Infinity, sounds much better and will go to full volume with no distortion. The amp is alpine.
This is very good to know, I recently purchased a challenger sxt that has the "6 premium Alpine speakers", the sound was decent, but not so long one of the door speakers got blown so I decided to check it myself and tear open the door panel to get to it, to my surprise and disappointment I found the Pentastar Made in China speakers mounted, so I thought I was getting robbed. None of the speakers are labeled as Alpine speakers, despite the fact of having the logo on the doors, which I think is very sneaky of their end, why not just saying "audio tuned by Alpine" or something So I went ahead and replaced all 6 speakers with actual Alpine speakers series S and I can hear a way better improvement on the sound quality. Also Does any one know why my 2-way speakers mounted on the doors don't produce any sound, just bass?? Are those woofers only?? I'm very new to this topic and I haven't been able to find any clarification on Dodges website, forums etc.
In my 17 challenger scatpack I got the HK. It has two subwoofer. I’ve always put it my cars crescendo speakers along with tweeters and a 15” sundown. But this HK system is ok for what it is. I bought my scatpack used with 15k miles on it and the previous owner had this thing loaded

The HK sounds like there is no subwoofer. I removed the rear panel and at full volume it barely wiggles. I replaced the 10” HK with a DS18 shallow mount 10” and added an external amp to drive it. This required a PAC audio harness to by pass the ANC, but finally gave the car some bass. The Alpine doesn’t need this done to actually have some bump. Both vehicles since got the 12” Cerwin-Vega! Spare tire subwoofer and the systems now sound identical. Do not pay extra for the HK. The HK looks cool with the silver trim and name plates but audibly sucks
Audiophile speaking. I had a Challenger with Alpine for 2 years. Now I switched to another Challenger that has HK. I can't express enough how frustrated I am. The HK bass is way too heavy, it even uncomfortably vibrates. There are no mids. Just strong bass and highs... I don't know if the engineers were deaf or wtf. Alpine is so much superior in terms of sound quality and frequency spectrum. It's even louder than HK. I'm going to be replacing HK with something else... It's really frustrating.

Things might be a little different for the 2021’s. The sticker for my ‘21 Scat Pack says “6 Premium Alpine Speakers.” It has the Alpine badges on the doors. I have a 2017 SXT+ with Alpine and it's bad. My doors rattle and the mirrors vibrate 📳
Yeah I agree with you 💯
@@Gonin60 update: I purchased a 2020 Charger GT with Alpine and it was slightly better than my 2017 Challenger SXT. I did buy the 17 used with 14k miles, maybe the first owner ruined the speakers 😂 my 20 Charger was brand new. I’m coming back to this video because I’m in the market for a 23 Challenger again with Harman Kardon. I want one of the Last Call models fully loaded even the technology group 🙏
What subs with a built in box would drop right in? I have the alpine system in my 2019 Scat but looking to make it thump.
I have a video on a subwoofer install. It’s a powered sub so it’s built in. If you want to do the sub and amp separately I would go with Rockford Fosgate P series or anything from JL Audio. You could also check out OC Motivators channel. He went through several sub installs.
Thanks for the vid but man did it take you a minute to get to the actual comparison lmao.
You’re welcome!
What about the sound system in the plus plus package. Good enough?
Things might be a little different for the 2021’s. The sticker for my ‘21 Scat Pack says “6 Premium Alpine Speakers.” It has the Alpine badges on the doors.
My ‘19 SXT had the base “made in Mexico” 6 speakers, and it was worse than bad. I swapped them out for the Kenwood Excelons all around and that was instantly 100% better. Then added the Kenwood XR600-6DSP amp with the Maestro adapter module, and the system kicks!
Right on!
Bass isn’t directional. It doesn’t matter which way the sub is facing
I have the harman kardon and it sounds like shit .... I can have it turned all the way up it’s fucking wack-.- I have a 2018 and I wish I would’ve done my due diligence before I bought it. I’m getting a aftermarket sound system installed tomorrow
Yeah it’s sad what these companies charge for audio packages that are sub par. Happy for your new system though!
Yep my 2021 sound system trash!!!!!!!!
Really?? I was going with the HK but not anymore.
@@thriftyagar4205 please don't
Comes with 2 subs
The problem is Dodge putts no soundproofing so it just rattles
True
Since when did cops start giving warnings for speeding???
IDK I got way lucky!
Not everyone.
I got a written warning .. for doing 74 in a 65 fkml 🤦♂️
No!!!
@@Gonin60 Yes! 😫
Did you get the subwoofer
Yeah
you can have alpine without logo in 2021 jeep cherokee overland
my charger came with beats speakers and a beats amp
Nice. How do you like it?
@@Gonin60 tbh really nice they sound Clear and the bass hits hard.. people think I have a box or custom sound system
That’s awesome
Alpine is great. Compared to the average car without a premium sound system.
What are they going through
Hi there. I don’t know if I understand the question.
Nobody seems to know what the stock stereo is......except garbage.
Yeah it’s no good
Stock system I believe is Boston acoustics
manufacturers will always error on the side of profit and marketing........always been that way with anything......suspension, features, sound......they buy it cheap and upsell to customer......wouldnt be shocked to find its actually not even alpine or harmon kardon componets tbh......just one piece might be but not whole system.......manufacturers are cheap af
True
I have the HK in my scat and it’s shit.
Yeah it’s overrated imo
It’s weird because I had Harman Kardon in my 2016 BMW 740i and it was amazing. However, BMW offers Bowers & Wilkins which is superior but that’s another story.
Drop it
