HELLO LOVELY VIEWERS! Important Note: If you have questions about this video, you can post it here for the community to answer. But if you want to ask me, please get in touch via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or my website (all links are in the description above). If you leave questions in the comments I may not see them due to the large volume of comments I receive across the hundreds of videos on this channel. Thank you for watching!
I understand why you chose those desserts, especially the roti sai mai, it's so tasty! Steamed bread with pandan sangkhaya is also one of my favorites, I remember going to Mont Nomsod (in Chiang Mai and Bangkok) to get this deliciousness :)
I loved this video! I love sticky rice anything! Do you think you'll make a video on soup desserts or maybe recreating that black bean coconut dessert? That looked sooooo delicious and it blew my mind!
That sugar burrito!!! We did have the same dish. But plain wrapper without sesame. We also put a lot of fresh coconut for crunchiness and some sprinkle of sesame. And that wrapper, I have to tell you, make the perfect springroll wrapper. Much lighter then the 'egg wrapping' I've seen in Japanese or Chinese cuisine. (By 'we' I meant Vietnamese, I just so excited how Thai and Vietnamese have so many things in common)
Coolest Thai dessert I've seen (I haven't seen so many) was some kind of thin crepe which the chef slung to stretch it and then fried. It was filled with super sweet banana and topped with condensed milk and caramel marbles. Sooo good!!
Thank you very much for sharing these thai deserts. I was in Thailand this summer ( I came home only one week ago and I miss it so much) and I wanted to try every food and the deserts were very mysterious for me! Now I want to try thai food! Delicious! Your channel will be very useful for me!
growing up i had a hard time accepting beans in savoury dishes too, i was wired to think of it as something 'sweet'! i love the green kanom with coconut that you ate the most - i really think it's delicious
I like looking at all the background people. They are all looking like "What's going on. Who is that? Why is she talking like that?" kind of...and it's cute haha. I'd feel so weird just talking in public like that.
We have something very similar to your sugar "burrito" in Vietnam as well. Instead of the pulled sugar threads, we have these sugar wafers; people tend to also add shredded coconut and toasted black sesame seeds as well before rolling the whole thing up. It's a shame I no longer see this being sold anymore.
I'm Mexican, and we can not even imagine "sweet beans" Most are not familiarized with Asian culture so sweet beans are not even something we think possible haha, that is how passionate we are about savory beans.
I'm a Brazilian with Japanese heritage and when I was a kid my uncle said : it was chocolate 😅😅 But if u try I recommend warm and not in cold desert 😅😅😅
I like kanom krok with corn or taro, mango with sticky rice and Swensen's sticky rice with mango ice and coconut milk. Swensen's is a must stop when I'm there in Thailand.
Yallow!.... yes i love all that snacks You bought it hmmm.....that is my favorite too. I grow up five country's, those are my specialty hmmm., enjoy and have fun. this is my first time i come to your channel because my customer looking for TOM YUM RECIFE. REGARDS FROM CYPRUS
Kanom Piak Poon is called 'Kuih Bingka' in KL ( it is groundnut flavoured & served with a topping of salted pulverized groundnut). If not groundnut flavored then yes it is served with salty shredded coconut.
+Pailin's Kitchen Take my word Pailin, it is super-delicious!! However for those little pieces of sticky rice with toppings that are wrapped and steamed in banana leaves, here in Malaysia it's only served with one specific topping- shredded coconut cooked in brown sugar...it is almost like a coconut brown sugar jam & you must try it if you come to Kuala Lumpur!
In Indonesia, we called that shredded sugar thing as "rambut nenek", which it means Grandma's Hair. We usually find the seller near the elementary school.
ขนมเปี๊ยะ ขนมหม้อแกง ขนมชั้น ลอดช่อง สาคูแคนตาลูป โรตีนมข้น ขนมปังสังขยา ขนมครก are just a few of my favorite Thai desserts. Unfortunately, anything that is custard-like (e.g. ขนมหม้อแกง & สังขยา) often use duck eggs or eggs at all from my understanding, which is not vegan friendly. Trying to find ways to make a them vegan/เจ, but have yet to find a good recipe to share these delights with my vegan friends!
I just ate a thai candy... first time...I FELL IN LOVE AT THE FIRST BITE 😅😅😅😅 AND I DON'T KNOW THE NAME ONLY THE FACT: it's made with stick rice, coconut, coconut milk, probably wrapped up in banana leaf and it was brown. And the lady said it was like a type of mochi SOMEONE HELP 😅😅😅😢😢😢😢
Great video again. YES, I remember just how refreshing a cold dessert soup was under the Thailand sun. I love pandan anything. Now you can buy 3 Roti Sai Mai whenever you want without the spin of the wheel ☺
My favorite Thai dessert is Kao-tom Naam-Woon (ข้าวต้มน้ำวุ้น). Banana-leaf-wrapped sticky rice triangles in pandan/jasmine-flavored syrup with some shredded jackfruits on top - served with crushed ice. :P
Sawasdee khab Khun Pailin. I love all the desserts you viewed, and I was just introduced to Roti Sai Mai having visited Ayutthana this past weekend to visit many Wats. The other dessert I having fallen in love with is a tapioca pearl mixture served in pandan boasts with a coconut cream topping. I have seen it call tagoh, sago, or taco. I would really love to see more about that. Thank you for all that you do for Thai cuisine.
Oh my gosh! You are just like me at the Asian market. I go for all the dessert foods and buy it all up. I love Asian desserts more than western style desserts. Mostly because a lot contain jelly like substance, fruit and of course, coconut. Yummo!
Khanom Piak Poon used to be in black color when I was growing up and usually comes topped with shredded coconut . It's going to be thing in the past. Fewer people make this khanom. Hard to find. Enjoy your show. Sumontha
along with Mango sticky rice, my favorite Thai dessert is Tako (2 layer pudding with Pandan & coconut) - I have read many recipes and I'm staying with one where I like the consistency: mung bean starch in the bottom layer, rice flour in the top, and I always make them with water chestnuts. I guess I'm lucky to be able to buy fresh Pandan leaves near my home in Germany - I make the Pandan water and the little Pandan cups to pour the pudding in... :-)
maybe you could help me identify what kind of dessert this was, this was at a Thai restaurant in Dublin, Ireland and was labeled as a traditional Thai dessert (not sure how true that was) but basically it looked like a gray brick with crispy friend onion on top...noone at my table liked it...but just curious if you maybe know what i could be..
Interesting and informative video. By the way my favourite deserts are khanom luk chup (not sure if i am spelling this right). Also It has to be this thai desert pots. They have mango, lychee. And some other fruits I love them. Don't know the name though.
making me craving for sweet coconutty things at 12pm :) oh my :'( I'm from Vietnam, where our food have a similarity to Thai's, and also has quite lots of Thai's food too. But now I'm in Australia, recently I've been missing the food, and now seeing this makes me want them MOREEEEEEEEEE :'(
wow! im looking for a good recipe of Spring Roll and saw your blogs about the different kinds of desserts in Thailand. Its super interesting I want to try those... now Im planning to go to the Thai Store once they open and pay attention to their dessert which I usually don’t 🙃 and find all those food that you showed us..
Except for the Roti Sugar roll, Filipinos have the same kinds of desserts ... really similar. Suman (sticky rice in a banana leaf), depending on the region we have all kinds of beans & tapioca cooked in coconut & that jello looking green dessert with coconut... yes, we have that too. Again, depending on where in the Philippines you're from it differs but same sorta tastes based mostly on sweet rice & coconut. Yumm! Now I'm craving for some...
Hi Pailin! I have a dessert request for you! I discovered the Thai version of the coconut/sticky rice steamed balls in a very small Thai restaurant. It was significantly better that the one we get in Chinese restaurants. That was made with stuffed sticky rice balls covered by fresh grated coconut and served hot! This is gorgeous! I miss this dessert a lot, so if you know how to do it, please share the recipe!
I hope you drank a lot of water after all those sweets. Great video...you activated my sweet tooth here in Brooklyn NY. Will try making the sticky rice with banana to go with dinner tonight-----peace and love lsj
Pai, swasdee ka! My mom is from Thailand and she moved back 15 years ago... because it’s so cheap to eat from nearby vendors she doesn’t cook as much as she used to, so she’s forgotten a lot. I NEED to know how to make more Thai desserts lol!! Pleeeease can you do a section just for desserts?! Kap koon mak na ka!
I have ALWAYS been interested in Thong Yod ever since I was a kid from a thai boran I watched back in the days . I really want you to make a video of how to make it! I really want to try making it and will try it one day when I go to Thailand. Please do make this video Pailin! Thank you! ^-^
For me going to SE Asia is getting to taste their grilled fish again and to taste the so many different tropical fruits again. Even though you now can buy some of the fruits in Europe it just plain does not taste the same.
I love lup chup- those tiny jellied coating with mung bean fillings that are shaped and painted into tiny fruits and vegetables. I have never found a video on how to make them. Could you do one please?
wow!, I am from México, and I am, and probably most of Mexicans would also be intrigued at the sweet finishes oriental countries give to beans. I still cannot compute : sweet beans. Odd for us. Beans for us are salty, hot, refried, etc. You should try our Charro Beans. Out of this world!
I want to go get a roti tomorrow! My absolute favorite sweet! There's a roti stand two minutes from my apartment! (I'm on the east side of Chiang Mai.)
waoo Pailin.. you make me wanna go to Bangkok Market.. I can really feel the taste here in indonesia.. hope that i can return back again since 2000 .. and try all the dessert there!! thanks pailin for your video.. :)

please do a fruit tour in Thailand with all the amazing fruits that we don't have here in the U.S. I love all the tropical fruit there.
I'm sure this has been requested many times before, but I would love to see a separate channel by you teaching Thai!
I understand why you chose those desserts, especially the roti sai mai, it's so tasty! Steamed bread with pandan sangkhaya is also one of my favorites, I remember going to Mont Nomsod (in Chiang Mai and Bangkok) to get this deliciousness :)
I am drooling watching those dessert even though I never have it. Anything with coconut milk is always so good to me.
My mom always makes the grilled sticky rice w/ banana but instead she puts the sliced banana on top of the rice. I love it
I loved this video! I love sticky rice anything!

+Pleum me too
In India the pulled stringy sugar is called SON PAPDI. We eat it on its own. It's my favourite dessert 🍨.
we have the pulled sugar in india!! its called sonpapdi and its usually made to look like cubes

The best is Mango and Sticky Rice pudding. The one with the purple/blue colouring in the rice. I learned how to make in Chiang Mai. Yummy
Best youtube channel ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️ love you Pailin

Funny how she would say and finally then buy another item...over and over... but still one of the best clips I have seen so far.
ข้าวต้มมัด and สาคูถั่วดำ are awesome!
Actually they all are awesome
My favorite Thai dessert is Kao-tom Naam-Woon (ข้าวต้มน้ำวุ้น).
Banana-leaf-wrapped sticky rice triangles in pandan/jasmine-flavored syrup with some shredded jackfruits on top - served with crushed ice.

I think it's a "khanom tom"( Thai coconut balls recipe) ขนมต้ม

I want to go get a roti tomorrow! My absolute favorite sweet! There's a roti stand two minutes from my apartment! (I'm on the east side of Chiang Mai.)
Can you show us how to make the coconut bean & tapioca
I always enjoyed lod chong nam ka ti growing up. I think that I missed spelled that dessert name.
Looks tasty! Did you say what the kanom piak poon was though?
+Alan Poon Oh I think i cut that part out, it's basically made from rice flour, tapioca starch, sugar and pandan leaf juice, cooked until thick.
waoo Pailin.. you make me wanna go to Bangkok Market.. I can really feel the taste here in indonesia.. hope that i can return back again since 2000 .. and try all the dessert there!! thanks pailin for your video.. :)
