The problem is that only specific nationalities have been allowed to creep into the country and organize the spaza shop trade into a monopoly from village to village, town to town and city to city. I'm shocked that it doesn't worry government that 90% of all spaza shops you'll visit are owned by related Pakistani nationals. This is simply a syndicate!

Because it was never a rule of law before and you can't just close them down that would be unconstitutional and would win in court. Back to square one. After the 21 days you then can start complaining how they met all the requirements such as business visas and from employees to employer all being foreigners. All their products will have a vat and bar code. None of their products can be recalled off the shelf because they cannot be traced. So yes it's going to be a process
This does not solve the problem because there will still be poor South African who do not mind fronting for their business. Fake marriages exist so obviously fake spaza owners will also exist. This process as tedious as it may be, needs to exist. Stop being emotional about it and look at the bigger picture.
What's the point of doing this, its not gonna stop them from doing it again. They should be punished and deported, to them a South African life means nothing 😤

Give penalties to SPAZA shops that sell these expired goods, but the focus should be on where they buy their goods from. That is the main issue. This problem is bigger than just the SPAZA shops cause another fat cat is getting the cream and remaining out of the limelight.

Municipalities dont have enough man power (Health inspectors) to inspect, monitor & give health Certificates to these Spaza Shop, hence the opportunism by Pakistanis. They are exploiting this shortcoming by Municipalities, and because some communities are desperate, they just purchase without checking expiry dates on items. Let alone children because they dont have the mental capacity and insight to be wary of faul play by these shops. So, Customers must take responsibility to check if these items are safe to consume or risk heal problems or even fatalities. South Africa has become a banana state where people do as they please... there's just too much lawlessness. At it started at the top, so, why are we surprised that the ripple effects are now visible at this level. Law and order is no longer a priority... we even trust and rely on private security company's for safety, not the police. I’m also confused by this reporting. As far as I’m aware, nappies don't expire, but the performance may diminish slightly after three years from the date it was manufactured.
But as long as you aren't seeing any signs of spoilage, most foods should still be good to eat well past their expiration dates. Non-perishables can be kept and consumed past the expiration date with only taste, quality and nutrition compromised. I think what you should be clamping down on are those people making their own foods and putting fake original labels in top.
