  • Today we're watching king Vaati's PHENOMENAL video about Elden Ring's bosses that served the Golden Order. Vaati takes us through the history, motivations, and lineage of many seemingly random bosses that served the Golden Order to help us build up a picture of their purpose in the Lands Between. We then get time to watch The Lore behind Elden Ring's Eternal Cities which was a breathtaking exploration of the lands below the lands between, and the creatures that inhabit them! Thank you VaatiVidya for your time and creativity.

Queen Ronaldo and America the Eternal….the subtitles are so hilariously horrendous and I love them haha.
I highly recommend the story that covers Vyke, the guy on the cover of the Elden Ring game, by Vaati titled, ‘The Lord of Frenzied Flame’. It gives a lot of insight on the Frenzied Flame and covers one of my favorite stories from the game. I think that you’d really enjoy that video as well!
Also I’ve been loving following your gaming journey 🙌🏾

37:41 The sword that the Elden beast uses is believed to be made out of the corpse of Radagon/Marika itself. Like Vaati said you can see the spine forming the grip, and the two arms forming the crossguard, if you look closely it even appears to be forming the golden order pose.
You can also assume that the two blades that separate, intertwine and finally conjoin at the tip of the blade are Marika's and Radagon split personalities separating, twisting and joining again.

      @alol_x4353 Рік тому +3

It is not forming "the golden order pose", there are three. Inner order, Outer order and Golden Order Totality. The sacred relic sword is specifically doing the Inner Order pose

Given how Rennala’s children have evidence of aiding each other, I feel like Radahn (there is an iron virgin at his castle) froze the stars to put Ranni’s fate in stasis-meaning she can’t be killed until Radahn unlocks her fate. This would mean that Malenia was sent to kill Radahn to free Ranni’s fate to allow the lunar family to be slain properly. Essentially rannia was kept safely in stasis during the war of the shattering, preventing her destruction

    • @14megasxlr

That’s a cool theory. The only issue with it I can see is how much it seemed like Radahn favored Radagon, at least aesthetically. I find it iffy that he’d be against the golden order

    • @epiccthulu

@@14megasxlr Remember that Morgott named him a traitor and artwork shows them fighting. More so, an Iron Virgin is at Radahn’s castle and Radahn’s portrait is still hung in Volcano Manor. It seems like when the golden order was shattered alongside the elden ring, The children of Rennala and Marika were at war, with Rennala’s children all providing pieces to a plot.

@@urdeddog5124 Even if it did hinder Ranni’s ambitions, I wouldn’t question it too much.
A reoccurring theme in Elden Ring is that the Golden Order is bad but most of its alternatives are worst. Look at Rykard, the Flame of Frenzy, the Fire Giants, etc. All seemingly were worst than the Golden Order.
I think Radahn and the average player have every right to believe Ranni’s intentions aren’t the best. She did literally kill her stepbrother and therefore indirectly started the shattering. Even though we do see the result of her ending, her intentions do appear to be a mystery. In any case, I believe Radahn had the right to not be on board with what his sister was doing.

42:18 It’s likely that the Eternal Cities were built before they were banished underground, as evidenced by the architecture (“The Tarnished Archeologist” is a great channel for dissecting Elden Ring lore based on real-world influences and architectural hints). The lower section of Leyndell where you find the Omenkiller and the town of Sellia both share architecture with the Eternal Cities, and both underground cities have windows that are sealed up - why would one seal their windows, if not to keep out the daylight? It seems the underground cities were literally banished below the earth, and it doesn’t particularly matter exactly how; god-like forces like the Greater Will can just do that stuff.

The black knives leader and her daughter trying to escape Leyndell after killing Godwyn and you realise who didn't make it by who is imprisoned and who you get as a spirit summon as described by Smoughtowns videos being my personal wtf moment. The injured and exhausted black knife assassin's you find trying to hide make so much more sense.

Glad to see another Vaati reaction! If you’re interested in more of his Elden Ring content, I highly recommend his “Prepare to Cry” / “An Elden Ring Story” series, which are much more narrative-focused and have absolutely stellar presentation. His videos on Miquella and the cosmic sorceries are also personal favorites!
(Also it’s low-key surreal to hear someone have _anything_ positive to say about the Capra Demon, considering that IMO it was the single most bullshit fight I’ve ever experienced and singlehandedly made me give up on DS1 and convinced me never to play a Soulsborne game again for the sake of my own mental health XD)

  • @Kamon181
    @Kamon181 Рік тому +3

I think the most fascinating and understated thing about Vaati's early Elden Ring videos is how completely wrong he and the community at large were about many of our early assumptions. You saw this in some of Vaati's DS3 videos where earlier theories get jossed by subsequent community discoveries and dlc releases, but this time around it feels so much more blatant and organic, much like real world anthropology and archeology where our theories are constantly disproven and reshaped the more we come to discover about this incredible world Fromsoft and GRRM have created. Looking forward to you learning more about this strange and twisted history that's continuing to shed secrets, even a year after release.

I never took Marika as the bad seed who set this into motion. I always took it as she was an idealistic champion chosen as a god by the Greater Will and the Elden Beast, and slowly over time she broke away from that which is why she had Ranni steal the Rune of Death, sent away Godfrey to build the tarnished's strength, and even shatter the Elden Ring.

Regarding translations, IIRC From doesn't translate in-house, so any mistakes is not entirely due to them. They have had a history of mistranslations leading to odd lore interpretations, though. The most infamous regards Gwyn's firstborn's banishment. In Dark Souls I, the English translation states that "a loss of the annals led to his banishment", leading people to scratch their heads and wonder if he got exiled for destroying history books. The Japanese original, however, rather says that he was struck from the history books, "lost to the annals" after his banishment.

I feel like there was some sort of a secret team between Ranni, Miquella, Melina and finally Marika. Their end goals might have been different yes but to be it feels like they respected eachother as rivals and helped out(?) eachother in their own ways to be fair to each other.
It seems to me like Marika was at the helm, and these Children of her came to her for assistance in their own way. Melina was instructed by Marika to be a Kindeling maiden, Miquella was left alone even when Marika surely knew what he was doing could challange the Golden Order and the Erd Tree. And Ranni was supported by Marika by lending her the Black blade assassins which allowed her to kill Godwin and go forward with her plan.
For Rennala too, Radagon being Marika herself, it seems to be like Radagon was kind of like a split personality of Marika with different ideology and his own will and thoughts but he did truly loved Rennala and by extension so did Marika. But he had no choice to go back to the Capital where Marika was cause of some thing that happened and Marika seeing Rennala heart broken, pitied and left her alone even if she had the forbidden right (according to the golden order ) of Rebirth.

Obviously he's a pain during your first playthrough and his words aren't any better towards you, but his story is so damn sad and understandable that I just feel so bad for him in the end. From start to finish in his life it was pain and yet he still fought for what seemed right even though it never benefited him. Idk, just my thoughts.

I think Morgott is so obsessed to become a champion of the golden order, to cope with him being rejected by his very family for being an unworthy omen.
He basically devoted his entire existence to win back the favor of his family and the ppl that believe in the golden order.

Erdtree/Elden Beast just feels like a big ol' parasite sucking the lands between dry - and all the other outer gods seem to want in on that power, rather than just letting The Golden Order take it all. From the moons that bewitched and empowered Rennala and Ranni, the Formless Mother that enticed Mohg, the God of Rot seems to wish to rot the world much like how fungi and diseases will rot their hosts to absorb nutrients IRL, etc..

my theory is marika sets the stage for the betrayal of the golden order by helping us the tarnished decide whats best, not her useless demigod children. the elden ring could have been almost like a mind/will control, like Iji the giant had a helmet of mirrors to negate any outer gods control, ranni cast away her body too. the mimic veil description say marika was mischievous and playful. hard to imagine all this war mongering was really from her heart or the golden order gods will imposed on marika, and she wanted out hence black knives

Renala was given the egg by Radagon so no it wasn't because of that
Radagon is the will of order that Marika slowly got to lose and Radagon becoming a different creature from the same person it really present the 2 parts of confusion (being loyal to the golden order or to destroy it) so the rune of reincarnation was owned by Radagon is indicate that he got it after being the one who reincarnated from the true royal sense that Marika had and get it off of her so she can think on how to destroy the very things she supported all along and made her will of serving the golden order busy in doing wars
And when she started to make Godfrey the first elden lord to leave to fight in other wars in other lands and come back as a dead body the sea thrown back to the land between so he can be at least stronger to destroy the elden beast but Radagon once he knew that the order lacking the consort he went force without thinking about renala and left he the reincarnation rune so who wouldn't be looked at as not fitting role for the golden order and the greater will once he reached the tree he was accepted right away by the greater will that's why no one knows why he got accepted right away i mean something like that would be sorta admitted by queen Marika herself but not really she sorta inclined to it because Radagon the golden order believer want to be Marika want to take away her doubts and be her to stand along with the greater will and the golden order

If youre interested in more lore channels, you should check out Smoughtown. he goes into even more detail on certain subjects than vaati does. I love vaati but Smough is awesome too. I like having these types of videos on in the background while im studying or doing something, souls, 40k and lately Warcraft lol.

You can only become Vaati's assistant after deciphering the mystery of Priscilla's fluffy tail.
Hint: Watch "Priscilla and the Chastity Belt" by VaatiVidya :))
    2 minutes well spent.

I have a theory that Morgott beats Radahn in the opening cutscene simply that's when Morgott was bless by the Erdtree. As everybody knows that who blessed by the Erdtree will very strong and Radahn in the opening scene was weak because he is young and not experienced. Now in the game, we see Morgott no longer be blessed by the Erdtree and Radahn is strong, fully experienced. So the chance to let Morgott beats Radahn is... by luck :))))

one thing i dont understand: rennala can rebirth stuff because she has the amber egg that contains the rune of the unborn...ok, but, that egg was a parting gift from radagon when he abandoned her, so she gained that power because of radagon. Aaaand the runes appeared after the shattering of the ring which happened long AFTER radagon gave the egg to rennala. What am i missing?

I would recommend looking into SmoughTown's content. He coveres narrow topics and provides detailed explanations on them and everything that surrounds them. He has very interesting analysis of the nature of the Greater Will, or dragons, for example. In dragon lore video he also covers the ages before the Golden order. He'll, he has a literal "The TIMELINE" video, lol 🙃

I have recently watched through your Elden Ring gameplay series and i loved it :D If i recall right, then you did not complete the questline for Diallos and Alexander, so I recommend you to watch the "An Elden Ring Story ► The Warrior Within" from Vaati ^^ It is an amazingly made cinematic video made in collab with other youtubers, and it will tell you an incredible wonderful and heartfelt story of Alexander and Diallos ^^

You would think that Fromsoft is pretty on point when it comes to their translations, but I think especially Bloodborne historically has a LOT of cases where the english translations say something completely different from the original Japanese text, which lead to early theories of Bloodborne being really misinterpreted

HI Emma, you can check the channel "The Tarnished Archaeologist" I like Vaati a lot he explores the lore very well but his limited by the game itself 😇 'The Tarnished Archaeologist" is on the next level he explains not just the lore but the ideas of Elden Ring. For example why Miyazaki chose the Tree as main objective in the game. Why needles are used to treat scarlet rot (because needles are use to kill trees :( and etc

I just recently watched GRRMs interview about what they had him do for this game, and they wanted him to give them a story and characters and a world that existed 500 years prior to the events that happened in the game. Now not that From Soft aren't absolutely amazing at writing, but I highly doubt they will just let the story that the great GRRM wrote to set up the actual story go to waste. I imagine that's what Shadow of the Erdtree is going to be, From does nothing by accident.
