The storyteller folds her slender hands - both pairs - and speaks. “It happened an age ago. But when I recall, I see it true.” So begins the tale of the Shattering, a devastating war between the children of Marika, Demigods of the Lands Between. One grim night in the depths of winter, a flock of unknown assassins stole across the Lands Between.
In a coetaneous attack, this foul covenant snuffed out the lives of many of the God-Queen’s kin throughout the empire, too numerous and too scattered for her godly protection to save. The assassins’ targets were multifold, but none was as devastating a loss to the Eternal Queen as that of Godwyn the Golden. After his death, the Elden Ring was somehow shattered, and the order of the world broke with it.
Out of this chaos came war. Open, bitter war, pitting blood against blood and kin against kin. The conflict broke a vast and prosperous empire into brittle fragments. No single side could find enough purchase to maintain a decisive victory, even when fueled by the power of a Great Rune.
The battle of General Radahn against Malenia the Severed illustrated that neither strength nor skill alone would be enough to take control of the entirety of the lands Marika had united. And so, the Lands Between are no longer gripped by open war, but caught in an uneasy stalemate that seems impossible to resolve. “Unless of course,” the storyteller says, a coy smile on both her lips, “thou shouldst take the crown?”

The mimic was supposed to be a quest, with a sapient mimic. She was supposed to be our friend who got closer and closer to us until she couldn’t stop herself from trying to become us. When we defeat her she merges with us and makes us permanently stronger. Becoming a summon, not a spirit ash.
Properly tragic, but overall far too positive as an end result for… the man in charge.
She had a cute name and I can’t think of it for the life of me. Such a travesty when you know how many quest lines got cut and once you know that it makes these densely packed game feel a little empty. Still love it but, just a shame
@@shanedillis153 Her name was Asimi, she would apparently spawn in the Artist's Shack in Limgrave, the quest was going to be called 'Like Tears in the Rain' since she was a Silver Tear. This was from the Closed Beta test, and so didn't even have real assets in the finished game. VaatiVidya did the whole exploration (of course) in the '10 Incredible Cut Content' video.
Ironmouse as Tanith was easily the best part of this video.

30:12 The music that's playing is the theme song for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It's called, "Snake Eater". It plays during the game when the player has to climb a single ladder for 2-3 real life minutes. Now, it's a bit of running gag in the gaming community (God, I REALLY dislike that term lol) that if someone climbs a ladder in a video game, the video editor will play a bit of that song.
Fun fact: Rykard can be your second boss. It's a nightmare to get there though.
Even scarier is that the demi-god of incest has a Super-boss variant that can be your first boss.

You can't get to mogh without killing another shardbearer, varre only moves after you get a great rune and meet the fingers

Btw not only is that one enemy the Capra Demon but when you fight one at the Albinauric Village he even has two doggos with him just to really bring the ptsd back.
I quite enjoy how much you vibe to the music in this video.
He might be known for his crazy editing, but Max0rs music selection to accompany his edits is also superb.
Edit. The music during the ladder sequences is as reference to Metal Gear Solid 3. There is a sequence where you climb a huge ass ladder and while you climb it suddenly this songs starts playing. Its also the main theme of the game and real banger of a song (its basically a James Bond style song).
the climb is like 2 and a half minutes.

The ladder climb music is the vocal only version of snake eater. Famous for playing in it's entirity while Snake climbed a 3 minute ladder. So now it's attched to long ladder to most people.

the music he plays when fighting rykard (at 34:09) is operation pyrite from arknights, and the music at the ending of the video (34:53) is operation deepness from arknights as well.
When he said Michigan, he was referring to the ruins. Basically he was talking about the urban decay in Detroit.
Max0r is wild. He takes all of your expectations and twists them into a horrid mess of surprise.
Those musical breaks in his videos make me cream my pants every time. They are so fucking hype, it's insane. I really can't wait for the Resident Evil 4 video, because he said it will be much more cinematic and music oriented.

12:20 I feel that. The only FromSoft game I've played is Sekiro. VERY much near the endgame. And I beat pretty much every boss after Genichiro without prosthetic tools. Just attack, block, deflection, and DOUBLE ICHIMONJI 😤😤😤
The spirit emblems got so costly that I began hoarding them. I only really use the prosthetic for spicing up fights with regular enemies sometimes.

A lot of people meme on the Mimic Tear fight but I actually really appreciate it. It's really neat to be able to playtest against your own character build, see how strong you are and what your shortcomings may be in the eyes of an opponent
I really hope you watch the other of his more recent videos (specially Metal Gear Rising and Ultrakill.), they are all top tier editing together with his Elden Ring series. Anyway, really liked your reaction, even if you can't really add anything to his content itself, the way you genuinely try to understand his videos makes these reactions really enjoyable.
Most of the music he picked for fights are Arknights soundtracks for CC operations.

To be fair, glass canon builds are very popular in these games.
So it wasn't a bad thing that you beat Mimic easier, you were just given a practical reminder of the downside of your build.

Great reaction and you're lovely as ever. I love the music he chooses for these is fantastic. The music he uses at the end of the battle with Rycard just makes me want to cause trouble (Or as Captain Mal said, "I aim to misbehave."). In the same interview I referenced in part one, he talked about the music and where he gets it from.

The song he inserts over ladder scenes is the Metal Gear Solid 3 theme. During that game, after a boss fight you have to climb the world's tallest ladder, and while doing so the game is serenading you with the theme song.
Seriously, it takes three whole minutes to climb that ladder in real time.
30:10 Emma that music, while he is climbing the ladder, is probably a nod to Metal Gear Solid 3 when Snake is ascending a really tall ladder. Emphasis on tall.
the dragon that dissappears from ranni's rise goes to the place above the albunaric village which you can go to by doing ranni's quest line
that Seth cameo came out of nowhere but I love it 8:02. these two have such incredibly entertaining videos that have a lot of similar humor, yet feel so different.

@@Emmalition You should definitely play MGS3, if you've never played any of them, you could make it your next series, but 3 is a fine place to see if they click with you, and it's set before the previous games so you can jump straight in.
Bed of Chaos in Dark Souls is so infamously bad people claim Boc in Elden Ring is actually a reference to Bed of Chaos because his name is an annogram and hes considered one of the most pathetic characters of the lore.
Most game companies would get really upset and defensive when you criticise something thats unfinished and a jank nightmare. Fromsoft feels like one of the few and far between that will not only take the L, but acknowledge it in some obscure way in future titles.
Im fairly certain they made the DLC entrances in 2 so hard to find because i played through DS1 on the pc and never even came close to finding the Artorias of the Abyss dlc so i missed out on an extra ten hours there because of the ridiculous knowhow needed for anyone new to find it.
God help literally everyone if Elden Ring decides to be even half as cryptic when its dlc comes out because the game it literally too large for that to be possible without a guide.

When I fought the mimic the first time I was massively over leveled. I was basically at end game level close to 160. I had specked into vigor and stamina and used bleed. My build prioritized survivability while maintaining a high damage output. Made the mimic very difficult to kill.

For the mimic tear it actually copies the first person to walk up to it so my friend and I summoned each other and fought each other (ex. His mimic tear copied me then he fought it 1v1)

It's pretty simple to understand actually. A lot of the places Max0r talks about are confirmably craphole neighborhoods. If you knew about them, you'd want to avoid them.

I love the storytelling, and if you don't know about it, here's the thing. You can't have shit in Detroit. The craziest and dumbest are from Florida. Weed in Cali and Colorado. Alabama.... Then everyone else is just corn and hills, or I won't make fun of it because they genuinely scare me. (Texas or Tennessee)
Just a suggestion if you enjoy videos about Elden Ring lore, maybe check out some videos of the Tarnished Archeologist, they make cool videos about the lore and history told by the environmental clues etc.
