Great job…such talent
the winter warlock/ ice king looks amazing.
A trick I learned for cutting fabric with fur on one side is to cut it from the back with an xacto knife. That way you can still draw on the back and get the shapes you want without slicing into the fur.
Reminds me of The Ice King from Adventure Time! Great job 👏 👍
Hey you should show a video of your sculptures in the oven lol. I’m curious.
🎶Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking out the door!!!🎶
Amazing job!!! Great way to start the holiday season! Krampus and the Winter Warlock!!!
I love these big sculptures! And a 40 minute long video?? Yes, please!
That is one amazing warlock, does he have brothers who represents Spring, Summer. and Autumn?
Ooo yes!
The Heat Miser is his twin brother
Yes pleas make them
@@AurorasArtWorld He's Mr. Hundred and One.
@@jake7499 he’s too much.
Dude, you just seem like you just want to share positivity and really enjoy sculpting.
Ace, I have followed you for over two years now. To see how you and your channel has grown is amazing. The winter warlock is incredible. You did another stunning job. I love the bigger longer projects and all your different styles and techniques of sculpting.
Loving the multi-media sculpts that you have started to do. It opens up a whole new world of creativity - but I also like to see you express materials, such as leather, in clay. Will you be mixing it up, or is this the new normal? Just to be clear I ain't complaining! Though I did buy a lot of Sculpey and FIMO after subbing to your channel :) Also love the longer video.
Really enjoying the larger mixed media sculpts you’ve started doing and loved the way you made him all sparkly like he was frozen.
I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to see your take on some classic cartoon characters!! Like betty boop, or Finn from Adventure time, Heck a creepy version of Jake from adventure time would be SO SICK!! I want to see your out of the box ideas to turn these characters into your style
PLEASE make his brother! I love how they interact and to see them to scale next to one another would be incredible! You are doing great things and your creations are inspiring! Thank you Ace of Clay!!
I think you have him confused with Cold Miser whose brother was Heat Miser from The Year Without a Santa Claus.
A self-healing cutting mat, the kind with the grid lines, and a fabric cutter that looks like a pizza wheel are total game changers.
Looks great! You can also cut the fur with a razor knife except you cut it from the back side so you don’t mess up the hairs. It came out really nice!
I use a scalpel and you're right, makes much less mess!
Heh heh noice :) I loved that old stop motion movie. Nice to see him getting the frozen respect he deserves.
I've seen it said a few times here, but you can use your exacto/craft blade to cut the faux fur from the back! It helps avoid cutting the fibers blunt and minimizes mess ^w^
I just wanna say I was thinking how you've found such a lovely balance of explaining what you're doing and just chillin out and watching you work ... Hope that doesn't sound too weird lol
I'm loving these larger and longer sculpting videos you have been creating recently. The creativity and details that you have put into the warlock and krampus is insane! I hope you turn the large sculpting videos into a series. What I love about these videos is that we get to see you go into detail on how to create big sculptures like this.
You have really helped me with starting sculptures and learning how to use different types of clay and techniques when making my sculptures ♥️
Stupid question: Will you show a new package of clay when they start featuring your design on it? Would love to see that when available.
I love this format of videos. I love longer videos as I can have them open and look at them as I'm doing other things. It's very nice and I don't feel like I'm missing something if I look away for a few seconds at something else. That sculpture turned out so good, too! Rankin-Bass movies are my JAM.
Thank you for working with new things, the videos really help you stop being intimidated by new things. The last two statures are both terrific, and I'm looking forward to the next.
I can imagine how much time it takes to shoot the editing turned out great. rate my Huggy Wuggy and let's be friends!
The multi-media sculptures have always been as much a favorite of mine as the classic sculptures. The interesting thing about multi-media sculpts is that it is closer to toys and dolls than the Jim Henson movies, which I love very much. Also Coraline and so on. This sculpture also reminds me of "The Dark Crystal" - the original film and the episodes. Gives me a very nightmarish and mysterious Christmas mood.
The Winter Warlock of last year came out to be so much more life-like than the original! Much more intense than a children's movie could present!
Very good! Well done! Worth seeing again too!
ripping was the way we used to do COTTON. Todays polyester doesn't rip straight. What she was wanting to do was not cut the fur part. You can easily do that by using an exacto and only cutting thru the backing. That keeps the fur looking natural and keeps the fluff from going everywhere.
I'm loving the clay/fabric combinations. Its really inspiring to those of us who don't feel confident making an entire clay sculp. Can't wait to see what ya do next
He is awesome ,you should a warlock for each season
When you were sculpting the hands, all I could think of was how much I’d love to see you take on the “Other Mother” and other characters from Coraline!!
He looks great! Definitely creepier than the original! Still brings back great childhood memories! 🖤
OK I mean you are awesome but am I the only one who loves it the most how he sculpt and not what.. I LOVE the Figures but the way you sculpt wants to make me cry.. It is with so much love, so light handed and sooo patient. I could sit next to you for hours and hours just watching you sculpting. It's amazing ❤️
That smile at the end was so darn cute. It looks awesome. But honestly, I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. 👌
I'm REALLY starting to think you and @JordanPersegati should do a collab! He designs a monster via drawing and you sculpt it! My goodness it would be perfect...ly terrifying haha :)
Also this is so great, I just love your work and your universes!
I think the winter warlock is probably the best yet. I love the mixed media stuff. Please do more.
You mean heatmizer and snowmizer. Those cheesey rakin basin shows are my childhood love them
With so much glitter in stock, you could make Jared the Goblin King from Labyrinth.
Ripping the fabric means the edge is exactly across the straight of the weave, which helps with aligning the fabric for cutting out pattern pieces. It will distort the edge where it is ripped, but as long as you aren't cutting up to the edge, it is not a problem.
And it's just faster. That blue fabric will probably too, and it's a quick way to get a lot of yardage into manageable pieces.
Black for the eyes really helped with the creepy factor because it seems like they follow you now. Love it!
Some helpful crafting tips:
1. Add a small sheet of plastic inside on top of the clay inside both Apoxie cans. Place a moist (NOT wet!) small piece of sponge (liike 3 cm across or so...) ontop of the plastic inside. This will keep it nice and pliable! Be sure to always, aaalways put the lids back properly.
2. Fake fur - use a scalpel or hobbyknife/break blade version to cut the very weave on the back instead. This way you will preserve the full fiber length and make it look snazzy! Be sure to test on a small piece so that you can get used to the fabric. Always use VERy sharp tools for this. Dull blades can cause trouble.
I have some interesting characters swimming in my mind now... This has been two epic characters and it is so neat that you are trying mixed media styles like this. Awesome!
I think you should make a Ghost Face figure from Scream using this kind of technique. He’d work well with his robe, etc. I think it would be really neat.
Awesome!!! Could you PLEASE do an episode where you show us your oven and baking process???
This is awesome! Love a grumpy bearded warlock! Possible idea for future sculpture Gods and Goddesses from all cultures BUT only the really mundane ones. Like the God of finding onions and just onions or The Goddess of finding missing buttons that maybe aren't what you needed etc etc. Love this channel and it sculptures!
He's awesome. I was really hoping you were going to add paws or a head to his pelt but I'm always thinking of the next little thing which is probably why I never finish things. The lady that suggested a single dewy drop dangling from his huge conk was spot on too. I really enjoyed watching his creation. Thank you
OH my gosh, I did NOT read that as conk and was so damn confused 😭🤣
From his huge WHAT
This combines three of my favorite things
Cold
Wizard
Creepy
These larger multi media projects are some of my favorite things you've done!
Ngl, it would be so neat to see a series of sculptures based on rankin/bass films!
You have come such a long ways from your old videos. I’m glad you’ve become more comfortable in front of the camera & more showing more personality. It’s nice to see your growth! Very proud of you!
As a cloth doll artist, I approve of your techniques with the fabric
He is AWESOME - you are a great artist. Thank you for inviting us into your fantastic universe!
I'm dying over all of your sculptures wearing tiny little Santa Hats. 🎅
Wow! What an awesome sculpt!! Looking forward to relaxing and watching you create this
If you're sticking to the Rankin/Bass theme, you should make both Heat Miser and Snow Miser.
I really love this style of video. The process, your personality coming out, everything. I lost it at your drum solo on the fabric. 😂
💜
This turned out really cool! Not as creepy in the end as I was expecting him to be but I think he's a good balance of cute/creepy
He's amazing! Wish he had a runny nose, one tiny shiny drip.
he's the stuff of nightmares and i love him... like if Albus Dumbledore was turned into a weird goblin-esque warlock
I would love to see him sculpt a character from the American McGee's Alice games someday. I think it'd be cool.
I saw a great tip on one of Adam Savage's videos about cutting fake fur... if you turn it over and only cut the backing with like an Exacto, you get results easier cuz you're just cutting the backing and the not chopping into the hair itself! Thought that may be useful for a future project
I just watched the mixed medium Krampus last night and I’m so excited for these sculptures.
Yeeeee love the return of the live format and the bigger sculptures!! Super dope, the winter warlock is iconic
Do you think you could have made his nails out of resin so they looked like icicles? I think he looks amazing. If you want the fur to look shaggier, when you cut it just cut the material (backing) and pull it apart that way the fur is not cut like you gave it a haircut. I just learned that on a DIYers channel who was making Christmas gnomes. You rock!
Even though you "don't sew" watching you make the robe reminded me of how my mom makes her own patterns for things. You have an intuition for it.
Very Adventure Time and Harry Potter combined. I enjoyed watching you create this 👏
Its fascinating how amazing sculptures you make every time, especially with your latest big projects. Your painting techniques really helped me alot.
This sculpture is like a combination of Dumbledore mixed with the Ice King from Adventure Time.
This turned out absolutely amazing and does the original design justice too! Great work on this I can’t wait to see what you make next!! Maybe heat miser so you can play with a lot of warm, bright tones and what not :)
you should try to make a puppet with a clay head that would be very interesting
or a marionette /string puppet
The sculpt is awesome. It really takes me back to my childhood watching those really old creepy Christmas specials.
Do you ever film pieces where you scrap an idea early on and come back with a different approach? It'd be nice to see some fails or reworks
This is soooo badass. It made me want to see you make an evil Jack Frost character that is in the process of freezing a victim.
Also his face looks a bit like rumplestilskin from the show once upon a time.❤️
I'm so obsessed with these mixed media sculpts and longer videos! I cant wait to see your next video!
Thanks for showing such a human side to what you do. That's encouraging to some of us.
I'd love to see you make a short film some day!! Tim Burton style!!
This is one of my favorite childhood movies.. and you made him look amazing..
The WINTER WARLOCK!!!! I love that film and he is a favorite of mine too 🥰
I love the little Santa hats on all the sculptures in the background! 😂
He is the king of winter, so enjoyed seeing you build him
Sculptures have been fire lately. I especially like the paints on this one.
Obsessed with this style of video and these recent sculptures! 😍 You are absolutely killing it Anthony. Two top tier sculptures two weeks in a row and that's saying a lot as your sculptures are usually amazing as it is. The clothing textures on this especially looks even better than on Krampus. Love multimedia sculptures, feels like something really fresh and new on the channel.
He's fabulously wonderful and spooky. You're so talented. I love all things that are mystically scary !! Loooooooove all your creations!!!
This is incredible! I would love to see Heat Miser and Snow Miser from Year Without a Samta Claus too!
This is one of my favorites! I love your rendition of the Franklin and Bass wizard!!
Sculpture stage: bent wire in foam base with twiggy wire arms.
Ace: There we go, the start of our sculpture!!
Me: It's Baby Groot!!!!!
I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but you can cut faux fur using an exacto knife from the back. It really cuts down on the mess and keeps the fur from having those awkward straight cuts from scissors.
This is super rad!!! It would be cool if his staff was like a misty resin, too! I feel like that would really get the ice feel across :)
You should do the three ghosts that visit Scrooge but do them in your style.
Great job as usual. Using the synthetic wool for the hair instead of yarn made a world of difference!
Re-iterating that I love thie longer format videos and the multi-media projects. Next level stuff!!
Magnificent, as always. I think his face looks like a bearded version of Koschei the Deathless, from the 1944-5 Russian film.
Okay but to me he looks like an epic hyper-realistic version of Ice King from Adventure Time 😂 he's incredible and I love it!
This is absolutely beautiful!!!!! Probably the best sculpture on this chanel!
this is really inspiring! I've been planning on making santa dolls for my family this year, so seeing the steps broken down makes it feel more conquerable. 🙏thanks
here is a little tip for you. when cutting any kind of fur, u cut from the back. u slip the tip of your scissor just into the back and snip along. this keep the cut clean and u dont cut the fur. :)
It would be awesome if you could do heat and/or snow miser! I think it would be really fun and cool sculpture
Reminds me of the ice wizard from the old Rudolph cartoon. Lol. Awesome bro!!!🤟😁
For a future wintery/ice like sculpt, I wonder if you could create like icicles by mixing premo translucent and white? Maybe you could make an icicle mold and use clear liquid sculpey as well. Lol sorry. You’ve brought out my imagination 😛.
This was my fav. character when I was a child. I was just sipping some coffee when you said this- "I payed like $10 for 3 hairs" and I laughed into my cup and got coffee on my jammies! hahah
His eyebrows are the perfect touch right along with the glitter!
This is a very niche thing, but he reminds me of this place in the UK. Its on the Isle of White and its called Black Gang Chine. Theres a bunch of animatronic scenes in a fantasy/fairytale esque setting, and my favourite ever since i was a kid has been the weather wizard and the winter witch! Ive no idea if thats the actual names, but its basically a wizard who greets you and shows all of the seasons, explaining what happens during each season. Then further along, you get to this witch who is tall and has long white hair and robes. That whole section just matches your Winter Warlock so well, i wanted to mention it ^^
I believe theyve removed the weather wizard installation nowadays but there might still be footage of it somewhere
This guy is terrifying just him staring at me gives me chills you did so good at making him he is perfect
Can we get a size comparison to Krampus?
Very impressive sculpt. I was wondering how you were going to attach the hands, and I guess you used magic ... just simply shoved the wires into the big black holes of the sleeves and presto, they stayed right there. lol
