As a Linux user, this feature was added in xorg in 1994
It also comes stock on pretty much every single window manager I know of today

Very cool, commentLoser717!
When can you customize gestures?
@@JamesJacob-lr5gtright now ? Gnome supports custom trackpad gestures
So we gonna ignore that Mac users are just discovering that their systems have these added recently. lol.
wym, bettertouchtool is a third party app. apple didn’t add this on base macos
Kind of..Mac has so much customization but is very user-friendly that most of the users don't even know or need to know about it.
Also, I'd like to call myself a power user of both Mac & windows (Mac for personal use, Windows for work) and I didn't know about this feature until I watched this video.

I love to shit on Apple as well, but being in the market for a new notebook for software development, it is genuinely frustrating that there is basically no alternative to Apple when you need good battery life as well as good single + multi core performance.
Apple just won the mobile CPU game real hard with their Apple silicon

@@Simeeoweach time i see a post about a touch screen on a laptop i cringe a little. Its a nice thing to have, but its more of a novelty. It wears off after the first few fingerprints. Also its just really not that comfortable to use. Plus windows was never really designed with touchscreen devices in mind, and even if you try mental gymnastics you will still most likely find it neat at best
@@SimeeowThe reason that MacBooks don’t have a touch screen (yet) is because Apple may be late to the game, but that’s because they take their time developing something, perfecting it, making sure it doesn’t fuck up your screen, before releasing it. Instead of doing what Samsung and everybody else is doing and just trying to be the first to come up with the idea, therefore it’s scuffed snd barely works properly. Absolutely. i feel icky when laptops that are mot mine cant do that
It never ceases to amaze me that on apple related videos there are many people from the Linux or android community that will come and say that feature x already exists in Linux. They hate Apple elitists, and, anecdotally it’s hard to find those people, but then the same Linux people that hate it show that same snobbery. This is coming from someone that loves macOS and Linux. Use the tool that you feel most comfortable with, that you like using, and gets the jobs done. Simple as that.
I am about to say the same thing. Those Linux users are everywhere and very annoying. I used to be a fan of Arch, but still anyway, Linux is a mess!

@@matsumoto_9562- Linux has never been a truly stable and enough user-friendly operating system to suit all types of users (okay okay I know Linux is just a kernel, but let's set that aside). You will find Linux very troublesome if you tend to use it to learn different languages, especially hieroglyphs, because the way to install appropriate keyboards and fonts is complicated and not straightforward at all. Linux is mainly suitable for tech people/enthusiasts who like to tinker and customize. On top of that, not everyone is tech-savvy, and not everyone enjoys tweaking their computer and sitting in front of it for hours. Still, Linux is a mess!

i do this by just dragging the window itself, usually by the top edge!
you can achieve that with one terminal command:
defaults write -g NSWindowShouldDragOnGesture -bool true
reboot and then you can cmd + ctrl + click on any part of a window to move it.
to disable it type the same command only replacing "true" with "false".

Wait doesn't drag window option already existed in window and linux
Other than the fact that Linux had this for ages, such innovation, instead of clicking on the tab and dragging it, you press a key on your keyboard and then drag it.
I like how in windows you can just click on the program at the top and drag it around natively. And Mac you have to enable it? That’s literally stupid
you can do the same. he pointed out that you can move an app with a mouse being ANYWHERE on the tab, not specifically at the top.. idk why he made this only to make people dumbfounded
That’s not what he show at all. You can of course grab a window from the top and move it on macos out of the box. He enabled different settings if you actually watch the video.
Every video on this channel has comments of people claiming "it works on Windows" without even watching the video
You wanted to be the smart one, and just made the biggest fool out of yourself
Mac had that before Windows even had a GUI. He's showing a feature which allows you to drag a window by clicking anywhere on the window (rather than the top) by holding down a button.

The three finger drag option is part of the trackpad settings by default, no need to install anything 😊
Cool to be native but im sure a little extension on chrome could do the same?
I had this in the surface pro 3 10 years ago also with direct touch on the touch screen. Use 3 fingers to drag windows around.
can I copy paste using my pinky? using thumb suck so bad.
Is there a version of this for windows?
This is just hidden under accessibility where they moved it together with head tracking for mouse movement.
Even DWM (The Suckless Dynamic Window Manager) on Linux, has this feature, and they are notorious for making you patch-in every feature you want.
dwm is sick, and st is my favorite terminal ever ❤️ I actually need to release macOS builds of st since I know it works on Mac with a little patching
Wait you mean it can do the exact same thing as clicking and dragging the top of the window to move the app around?
Or you know…you can just grab the top edge of the app and move it around that way….like a normal person….
You can achieve the same results using mac native accessibility options
