I have google wifi for two years now and it works amazingly. We upgraded from a Cisco system. Being able to turn off my kids wifi when they don't do their chores is an amazing power. HE-MAN!!
Nice info
Agree with you!.. I have installed many Google wifi (3X) and never had a single problem. it's a great Google device. Very, very recommended.
Thank you so much for being so informative! You answered all my questions!
Thank you for this- it really helped me make this decision.
Wow you covered the most important aspect.. Point not having a ethernet port for the Nest Wifi. That sucks and a huge downside. Thanks so much!
So you have devices that done use Wifi and need ethernet port?
@@rishisimply 1. A lot of devices like certain computers with mobos that don',t have wifi
2. Ethernet is more stable and faster than wifi.
@@rishisimply I have tons of devices on my network that only use ethernet ports. AV amplifiers, gateway devices eg Ikea Tradfri gateway, Phillips Hue gateway, Tado gateway, additional router/switch. (none of these are old devices by the way)
Also no way I'm using WiFi on a PC if it has a network jack(performance can't be compared)
absolutely informative! excelent video, made me choose right away the google wifi...i already been using the google wifi aold version and need to change to get more wifi spots...sodef i'll be getting the GWF again...tnx !
Thank you. Great review
Thank you for the review. Makes my decision easier.
Thank you I really love the way your review. Honest and good to understand. We have so many issues
With our TMobile wifi first it was awesome then it started buffering and losing connection. I searched and searched and found out that the issue is that most of the companies out there are all the same. They all do use cheap routers. I chatted with a few people on Nextdoor and everyone has the same issue. One of the neighbors told me that Google nest is the way to go so after checking on UA-cam listening to a few people I found you and I went out and purchased the Google Wi-Fi tomorrow morning. I will do the installation. Thank you so much I really love the way you present it honest easy to understand. Please keep your channel going. I signed up to your subscription five stars. Thank you.
Thank you for this
Thank you this made my decision easier.
Thank you for making great content!
I don't know why I get this feeling, but you sound super legit. Subscribed! Very likeable personality and I like how you've discussed the differences here. I've watched quite a few videos from other video producers and yours by far is the best.
Thank you!
Thanks this helps a lot
thanks for the review
Thanks for the info man
Your voice brings me peace
This was quite helpful. Thank you!
excellent! thanks
I have a 1800+ sqft one story house and one puck works great. I have some connectivity outside as well.
Great video mate!
Thanks for the very concise and clear explanation. As a sound engineer there’s very simple things you can do to improve the sound of the recording itself. Would love to be of help if needed. Thanks for the review!
Thank you and I always welcome help, you can email me at info@zachus.com
Nice presentation, sir.
It's NOT gigabyte speed...in network communications it's always expressed in bits and not bytes. 8 bits is equal 1 byte. 800Mbps (800 Mega bits/s) is equal to 100MBps (100 Mega Bytes/s). Note: the lower case "b" vs. the upper case "B"
The Google Nest WiFi uses AC2200 technology and the old Google WiFi uses AC1200.
I've had Google Wifi for about three years now. The thing runs flawlessly. I honestly forget it's in the house unless visitors ask about it. One thing you didn’t mention is that you can adjust the brightness on the "ring" to your preference. I think it's kinda of cool looking so I keep it right around medium brightness. I definitely won't be upgrading to Nest, not as long as this one keeps performing as advertised. Great video, you hit all the right points!
I've had nothing but problems. I had three in a 2400 sq ft home and I am not getting anywhere near my subscribed speeds. Also, I also need to reset it constantly once my speeds just crash. After I reset, I see a slight improvement (still not as near as my promised speeds) but it only last a couple of days, where I again need to reset. So annoying.
Are you talking about Google Wifi or Nest Wifi. Nest Wifi was buggy like this for me. If it's Google Wifi then it's a bad one, you need to exchange it. I've used Google wifi and my family for years and it's flawless in everything from 1,500 sq ft to 4,000 sq ft.
Thanks @Zachus you helped me understand the difference between the 2
Great video. Thanks.
Good said .

You solved my dilemma on what mesh system to buy. Google mesh system it is.
Your video was excellent. Clear to the point. Honest review. Great job. 😊💻❗✅
Awesome! Thank you
Hey man, thanks for the review just bought the google wifi after watching this.
Best regards!
Awesome
Thanks!
I have the google wifi pack of 3. I use one of the points in my 3rd floor where I connect my DVR which is NOT wifi enabled via a wire to the point and it works great. Not having the ability to connect a CAT6 to the point is a downgrade for sure. Will stay with the original for many more years to come.
This is the video that best explain the difference :)
Thanks
Don't you dare touch my ethernet port!!! 😅
Hi. I have a single google mesh router (the new one). Can. purchase the 2 pack and use with the router I already have for higher connection? This is the best video explanation so far. Thanks!
I'm assuming you mean you have the Nest Wifi 1 Router version. You can add as many Satellites to it as you want. Unlike Google Wifi, Nest Wifi has a designated Router and then designated satellites so you'll need to find one that is just the two satellites and then go into your app and add them in. This will extend and boost your signal throughout your house. Here they are on Amazon, amzn.to/3R3e89v
Just FYI Google is in the works to update Nest Wifi since they had a lot of issues with this one. No date set yet but likely by the end of the year or early next year. It will have Wifi 6 and be bringing back, hopefully, some things people loved about the Google Wifi which still out sells the Nest Wifi.
Thanks for watching, hope this helps.
thanks!!
#Zachus Awesome review.... i currently have the older google wifi.. im trying to figure to add the nest ones for more range.
Adding the new Nest Wifi will give you very little because it'll follow the legacy but some bump and you get the Google Assistant in the point. be sure to only but points, you won't need the router. unlike Google Wifi, Nest Wifi differentiates the two. I want to say you can only get these directly from Google Store. You could buy a two pack with the router and swap it out so the new Nest Wifi is your router but then you have to reset your entire Google Wifi legacy back to factory and set them back up. amzn.to/2V2zfB8
@@Zachus resetting the wifi with the new nest wifi won't delete the other stuff on the network as long as i keep the name and passwords the same but I'm truly thinking of doing so then from the google store they are about 90 bucks off for a nest router and point with color lol... then once that is done i can mix all together with the nest as the router.
No as long as you use the same network name and password you'll be good, everything will come back online and then your legacy Google wifi will just turn into points. Remember you won't get any more speed out of your Google Wifi but it will extend your network.
Hi great review a have a question I have 300mgb internet wich one will you recommend I always want to buy the google wifi because have 3 point and my home is 2 levels thank
I lean toward the Google Wifi because it has a lot more options and the 3-pack at $200 and is more stable. Nest Wifi is great but in my 2 level I found I just didn't get enough coverage with only 2-pack. I don't think you'll go wrong with either one though. amzn.to/3thHpSE
Nest WiFi seems like a downgrade to me
It seems like that to me. I went with the Google Wi-Fi because it had more features and seemed like it would have a more stable connection. I just set it up about an hour ago and it is working wonderfully
would you recommend the google wifi system for over gig speeds with xfinity, thats my current plan, and my orbi rbr extenders are no where close to good as they first were. I am confused on what to use to extend my coverage. Thank you for the super informative video though!
edit: I also have a ps5 system which i want to get good speeds since i have a good wifi plan so ethernet is a thing i want for an extender
Heck no. It won't do a gig in most cases, did you watch my video 🤣 ?
Check out my video on Orbi 6 that's what you need for over a gig
Orbi 6 will give you a ethernet into your PS5
ua-cam.com/video/XOzcfCdtOAY/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video. You might have already answered this but if I want to extend the range of my WiFi signal, would I just need to add a point? I currently have a single google nest router upstairs but my signal downstairs sucks.
Oh yes with both Google Wifi and Nest Wifi you can add points to them easily. You can have as many as you like. If it's a Nest Wifi, it's not like Google Wifi where you can just but another one, you have to be careful not to buy another Router but a POINT. store.google.com/us/config/nest_wifi it's the one for $149. Once you get it, open your Google Home app and add it as a device and it'll know it's a point to your current system and setup the mesh.
If it's Google Wifi it doesn't matter, they configure both ways. Hope this helps!
excelent video. Also, when I'm feeling anxious or angry, I just play this video to get a little bit of calm and peace.
LOL Awesome!
HEy man, great content though could you also talk about upto what speed Nest Wifi will support? is it 6 compliant?
Nest Wifi does not have Wifi 6, some have reported up to 1 Gig but most speed test come in at 600 max on a 1 gig line. I was getting 400-500 on my 1 gig line. Check out my Orbi 6 Video if you have 1 gig or faster line.
@@Zachus do you know if ip6 is supported by nest wifi ?
yes and no, Google Wifi and Nest Wifi do not support IPv6 transitional protocols but do support IPv6 and IPv4 traffic which coexist on the same network both wired and wireless. For IPv6 to work on Nest Wifi your ISP, device and OS must support it. When turned on it will use DHCPv6 on the WAN port to request the address form your ISP.
Just a heads up these routers are really for not tech people and for people that just want to plug and play. There's not a lot of Admin Settings, controls, etc... Its very basic, it's easy to setup and just works. If you are looking for something with more options try Netgear Orbi or Nighthawk.
@@Zachus thanks a bunch man for your quick response , keep up the good work .
I have Google wifi, 15 devices are connected at the moment, and the bands matter a lot. ( Like up to 3x the speed difference just switching bands )
AC1200 is up to 300 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps at 5 GHz
AC2200 is up 450 Mbps at 2.4GHz and 1733 Mbps at 5 GHz
Thanks so much for this video!! Wondering if you can help me understand how it works with not being able to manually decide which band (2.4 or 5) a certain device connects to. I don’t have the google wifi yet because I’m not sure if this is possible...I have wifi light switches that technically can connect to both bands, but on the 5ghz, it constantly drops and I have to re-setup. It wasn’t until I set them up with the 2.4 specifically that I have no issues now. But I set them up using their app on my phone and if google wifi automatically decides to put my phone on the 5, how can I make sure the light switches get setup with the 2.4 and not the 5?
You cannot do this with any out of the box wifi routers such as Google Wifi, Nest Wifi, Eeros 6, etc... they are designed to handle everything for you and are for none technical people. That said, I've used Wifi Bulbs and smart home devices for years and so has my family with these types of routers without issues. But if you are looking for something more technical, you should check out my video on the Orbi 6 and Orbi AX4200 routers that are higher end and give you more control. Thanks
@@Zachus thank you. I might give it a try. Currently renting a combo modem/router from xfinity and was planning to plug the google wifi directly to that for better coverage throughout house. I have the nest protect smoke detectors that use only 2.4 so I would hope everything else using 2.4 will be compatible too. I’ll report back. Thanks so much
You're correct. For me it matters cause I'm buying it for stadia. Ethernet helps a lot. Or does it not with Mesh?
wifi will lag data on average about every 5-25 seconds, nothing you can do about it
Is this going to increase my internet wifi & can I use it with AT&T ?
Thanks for your review.
It should give you high speeds across WiFi. If you are getting 250mbps from ATT you should see 200-250 over WiFi in most places. I use it with ATT and not a fan of them but my only option. They are hit or miss on speed depending the setup you get
@@Zachus Ok, thanks.
I'm also not a fan of AT&T either.
@@Zachus that's right also lucky! I get 50 on my PS4 it's hell
What would be the best way to cover 2 buildings? Right now in the house I'm using the Deco M9 (3 pack) and it doesn't have the coverage I was expecting (I want to cover 2200sq ft but the Deco barely does that). I want to add wifi to a detached garage (4000 sq. ft.) but I don't know if I should just keep adding Deco points or buy a Google system (there is a phone line in the garage too). Thanks a million for sharing. Oh, I'm only using 100mbps.
Wifi is subjective based on what it has to flow through, for example a metal building you have to have a wifi point hard wired into that building to get wifi inside. With that said I know someone using Google Wifi and their Shop is detached and pretty far from the house and they still get great coverage from it. It's at least 20 ft from the house. I would recommend it for your situation. 3 of these should cover 4,000 sq ft but you can always add a 4th one if needed. amzn.to/2LCA3YH
Thank you for the amazing info!
I plan to buy Google Wifi 4 pack for a 4-floor house, three 4k TVs ( 2 of them are likely to be used at the same time), 1 Ps4 and 5-6 smart devices, wifi is around 200mbps. Could you help, please?
Also, will it be OK to wire the points to devices (TV/ps4) via Ethernet (LAN)?
You should be fine with Google Wifi 4-pack, Costco is running is a deal on them for Black Friday. It really depends on your house materials, structure, layout, etc... but with Google you can always add more so if you need to you can add a 5th one or even 6th one. With Google Wifi you can use the Ethernet ports to plug things in like PS4 but PS4 has wifi built in so it won't make it faster. It's not the same as a direct connection to the modem/router. It is still over wifi, just FYI. Same with TVs most have Wifi built in.
@@Zachus Thank you!!
thankss!!!!
I like my cylon Google pucks but I'm buying one of those and keeping my pucks too
I'm using 3 Nest Wifi Routers in a mesh network. and they do deliver a steady 750Mbit/s tough out my entire house of 3538 Square feet. My connection speed is 750Mbit/s so they deliver what ISP provides
Awesome!!!
Does this only work for internet providers in the US? Planning on buying for use in South America
No you can use these anywhere in the world. I have people I know using them in Dubai, Mexico, Brazil, Europe, Italy. A router is pretty much a router. Not sure about China but you should be fine in South America.
Hi
Is their any speculation of a new version which will be released anytime soon? Its just i have neither and i am looking to purchase 2 x Nest routers to replace my over complicated ubiquity routers
Nest is the upgrade and it just came out so there is no reason or chatter about a new one anytime soon. I would look at the Eeros Pro6 for a gigabit Wifi 6 (amzn.to/3kZb9Sd) router or just Eeros 6 for anything less (ua-cam.com/video/Ekj2KoVtIb4/v-deo.html)
Hello. Thanks so much for the great detailed info. I already have 4 original Google wifi pucks set up but not always getting gigabit speeds I pay for even wired. I saw stats on throughput. Wondering if at least adding a new nest router as the main point pushing signal out to original Google wifi pucks could help and or if there's even further benefits to just replacing all 4 original pucks with two Nest routers for 2400 SQ ft. Lastly if I was to just replace is worth going to a wifi 6 mesh system instead for not much more with higher throughput? Spent countless hours on this so appreciate it.
It will not help, it can't change the tech inside. You need to first get with your provider and get your wired to be 1 gig. It's hard to get a gig over wifi or to get wired speed over wifi because of so many factors like interference, wall materials, etc... Look at my orbi videos, they do a better job.
Hi I’m trying to decide between the two we are building a new house and the electric company people suggested I get these. But I’m not sure which one your video is great! But I’m still not sure . Our house is 3400 sq ft each on main level and basement 4 kids 2 older kids will be in the basement 10plus devices between phones iPads and smart TVs.
What internet speed are you going to have coming into your new home from your ISP?
- If under 500 Mbps, I would go with Google Wifi 3-pack one on each level, might need 4 depending on the house structure, materials and span
- if over 500+Mbps I wouldn't do either of these, I would go with Orbi AX4200 (amzn.to/3d1NEUy) or Orbi 6. (See my other videos) these are a little more expensive but will handle the speed, sq ft and levels a lot better.
Are you 3400 two level or three?
- if two levels you need at least 3 for this size house for either option
- If your house is a tall 3 levels then you should be good with 3 pack one on each level
My parents have a house this size, two levels (not a basement), and use the Google Wifi 3-pack just fine but they have 250Mbps coming in and around 17 devices. amzn.to/3xH93dg
I have a 2,000 sq ft house two level with 1,000Mbps (1 Gig) and I use the AX4200 because I want to get top speeds on wifi and I have over 75 devices connected to wifi with work and other stuff.
Also, remember if you need out side coverage like backyard, doorbell cameras or even work shops, you can always extend these by adding new ones on.

Hi do you have any information on the "Breeze" It's supposed to be the new router coming out from Google. I'm upgrading the Xfinity 1G 600.
I want to make sure that I get a router that will support this. I also have a 4,000 sq home so I'll need plenty of coverage. Ty
There's no official or credible source that this is real. Maybe it will be but I doubt they'll release something other than the Nest Wifi. You should check out my other videos on routers. I have a 1 Gig up/down and I use Orbi 6 AX4200 3-pack (amzn.to/39bpp44). You can bump up to the Orbi 6 AX6000 which is the elite at $999 (amzn.to/3ckB0A4) for a 3-pack. Both have Wifi 6, Amazing coverage and handle up to 6Gbps, a ton of devices, has a back haul channel and more

AX6000 : ua-cam.com/video/F-tDUJVwG2k/v-deo.html
Agreed, I would stay with google wifi. I just concern that google stops support that since they already did for my onhub wifi.
Google Wifi has been around for almost 5 years, they were going to remove it in place of Nest Wifi but brought it back because people just want something that works, stable. Nest Wifi is great but you for sure need 3 not 2 and they need to get this fixed. My favorite right now though for anyone with over 400Mbps is the AX4200.
UPDATE: Support will stop in Dec of 2022 its been announced it will no longer be able to be modified or speed tested
Hi there, any of those also have audio, like the nest mini os nest audio? Or are they just mesh wifi itens?
The Nest Wifi points have Google Assistant on them like Google Home Mini. You can ask it questions, play music etc...
Hi. After complete the setup, do i need to keep my first point conected to my router all the time?
Sounds like you have a modem/router combo but you want to switch to Google for your wifi router? If yes, then you'll bypass or passthrough your current router and Google will become your network.
For Google Wifi your first point become your router, it configures that way and then you have two points (satellites) that you spread around that send your signal out if you got 3-pack and you can add to this
Nest Wifi comes with one router, can only be used for this and then a point (2-pack) that you use to spread the signal through your house.
You cannot use these to expand a non Google router to my knowledge. If you are using ATT or someone like that you want to expand their router then they have devices designed for that you purchase through them.
What I prefer is to own and control my own router for speeds, consistency and stability not to mention control. This is why I buy routers not affiliated with my ISP (Internet Service Provider) and I can take them with me and when I move, my network is the same name, password and all my devices just pop back up.
So the short answer is YES, you do
Hope this helps
Thanks . Got it.
Wich one of them should I buy. I use wifi to stream 4k movies. We are 4 ppl sharing the same network often at the same time. 2 using smart tv at the same time. I live in a 2 floor house.
Honestly I would go with the Google Wifi. If you are a Costco Member they have a great deal on a 4-pack right now or you can grab here on Amazon amzn.to/3kOBWkt
If you have a higher speed than 500mbps coming into your house for downloads, you might want to think about a different kind. Hope this helps.
I have a nest wifi router. Looking to buy AP and just didnt know what to pick between nest or google. Good to hear its backwards compatible. I need those rj45

Question, are the Google wifi routers better than my current wifi routers? ASUS Wireless Ac1900 T-Mobile AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router. Thanks.
I honestly have no experience with ASUS so I can't speak to those. T-Mobile has a router out? Both of these Google Wifi routers will not go over 500Mbps normally. If you have a gigabit line you need something like the Eeros Pro 6 from Amazon amzn.to/3kZb9Sd
@@Zachus yeah, T-Mobile was providing it for their customers over 5 years go. ( Supposedly to improve wifi calling) Asus also does not go over 500 wirelessly which I'm not concerned with. I just want better coverage without affecting the current speed of 350 to 400 i am getting.
Will they work together to extend the range? Can they pair together?
Yes
I switched to the new Google Nest and the 1st edition works much better.
Yeah agreed! The new Nest Pro works really well but Nest wifi was a bust... ua-cam.com/video/BLoGHCwyUN0/v-deo.htmlsi=drXd2XlTxa73Ieks
I see, nest google pack for US, is that fit for Canada ?
🙋🏻♀️ QUESTION here. Please help. 🙋🏻♀️
I’ve been eyeing the Google nest wifi, but I’ve also noticed that the points don’t have an Ethernet port. I work from home and my work computer has to be plugged in from an actual Ethernet port for me to be able to work. My router is in the livingroom and house is less than 2,000 SQ FT. What do you suggest me to do? I heard that I can do a combo of one nest wifi and one Google wifi?
Just get the Google Wifi. They have the ethernet ports, and you'll be good with them unless you are over 500Mbps Down. amzn.to/3IfypV5
If higher speeds then let me know
So what about a 3500 sq ft home... I would rather do the Nest but im assuming I will probably need to get an extender as well?
If you do Nest I recommend a 3-pack for sure for that size house. Every house is different. It depends on the layout, age, material, any other close interference, etc... You should look at Amazon's Eero's too with Wifi 6 ua-cam.com/video/Ekj2KoVtIb4/v-deo.html
Thank you so much! Now in 2023, would You keep your choice Google wifi over Google nest?
There's been no updates to Google nest so if you get less than 500mps to your house then I still do. I'm about test Nest Pro and I currently use this personally ua-cam.com/video/XOzcfCdtOAY/v-deo.html
@@Zachus Thanks again!! I have less than 500 Mbps, but I wish I could had more than that someday, so I’m going to check the other video
both AC right? so if my devices support Wifi6, other than cost/value, why do i stay with AC anymore?
This is recommended for anyone with lower speeds like 250 and lower or on a budget. I recommend Orbi 6 AX6000 (amzn.to/3ntEsdR) or AX4200 (amzn.to/35qE61E) for Wifi 6 and to get higher speeds. I have some comparisons on this as well. See my other videos for more ua-cam.com/video/XOzcfCdtOAY/v-deo.html
Which would you recommend between the two now?
Google WiFi
So, as far as using the 3 google wifi as points do you need the nest WiFi point or can all 3 be used as points with just the nest router?
I'm not sure I understand the question...
1. Do you already have Google Wifi and you want to add Nest Wifi?
or
2. You have Nest wifi and want to add Google wifi?
Let me know, here to help, thanks
I don’t own either one, but I want to know if I buy one Nest WiFi and one Google WiFi I can use one as the router and the other as my point correct?
You don't need both. You just need one or the other. You can mix them but if you get a Nest Wifi Router and then use Google Wifi for points it won't be as fast, it is possible but it's better to just go with one or the other. What size is your house and what is your speed? Here to help
@@Zachus My home is about 2,000 sqft, I ran a little test on my phone to see whats my network speed and as a result am getting 82.20mbps on download and as high as 11.18 mbps for upload. My extender is testing at 3.97mbps download/19.58mbps upload. Both are Netgear brands. *I did all test near the routers.
Am taking in account what you said about the Google WiFi having an Ethernet port option and the nest WiFi not having one because am currently using a older model home security cam that requires a Ethernet port. That’s what am using my extender, for my home cam because that extender has a Ethernet port. I also have a nest 3rd Gen thermostat. Will anyone of the two make a difference as far as capability to connect?
Then you just need a Nest Wifi 2-Pack or Google Wifi 3-pack either one will be fine. What down speed is coming into your home from your provider? If you need the Ethernet port then just go with the Google Wifi 3-pack amzn.to/3rxq08h
Nest Thermostats won't make a difference. I have had 2 connected to both Google Wifi and Nest Wifi. Nothing to worry about there.
I have google Wi-Fi on a gig speed from Verizon. Google Wi-Fi can handle gig speed with no problems. Get google Wi-Fi, for the price you cannot beat it
Do both systems use the same app for setup?
Yes, setup either in the Google Home app. It's one place to run your smart home. Love it!
If i have 1 Google wifi, can i Connect that to the Google nest router? Or do i need to get the 2 pack and hook it up to the nest point?
Sorry I thought this was in the video. They are compatible. So yes, you can use them together. Nest being added to Google Wifi will not speed things up, just FYI it will fall back to the slower tech.
Do you need an actual wifi carrier like spectrum or at&t or do you just need the Google device?
Yes, this is just a Wifi Router, that takes the internet that comes through from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and makes it wireless (Wi-Fi) to connect your Wifi Devices too. All Internet comes from a provider. Hope this helps.
i dont even kno what this does I'm just trying to cut my internet bill can I use this as mobile internet and can mobile internet replace home internet.
So, no, that's the simple answer. You cannot use your Mobile Carrier in your home through wifi. This is not a good idea for many reasons. Most carriers even unlimited data throttle you down to slow slow speeds after so much usage. The only way to cut your internet bill is to find a cheaper ISP provider in your area or call and ask them for discounts, lower you package.
I cut things out like TV/Phone. If you Google and call them they usually will work with you to apply discounts. A wifi router will not do this. a Wifi Router like the ones featured in this video are to take the internet you pay for you and send it over your home via wifi so your devices can connect. Hope this helps.
Google fiber gave me two of the google brand mesh routers. But you suggested the orbi? I have the gig internet 1000up and down
Yeah Google Wifi can't normally do 1Gig over Wifi so if you're not getting but 500 or less over wifi, I'd look into the Orbi 6 or Orbi AX4200. I have videos on both. They have their own back haul channels and get better speeds. Just more premium. Google Wifi is great too though, I used it for years.
@@Zachus what about a access point thing? I heard those are good to use. The inside of my house seems ok for now but I plan on using ring cameras outside in the front and back yards I’m thinking I would need an access point device instead of a good router? What do you think and if so what’s good for my google fiber 1000 down and up speeds?
You can expand your Google Wifi with more Points buy buying more Google Wifi either single or 3-pack, they will become points to your Google Wifi Router when you set them up in the app.
I had Ring and Nest Hello with Google Wifi and cameras outside and they worked fine. They cover pretty good. They are designed for outside, but they will spread outside. You can test and expand it as needed. Usually, for a 3,000-5,000 sq ft house a 3-pack will do. It just depends on the age of your home and design. If you aren't getting coverage add another point.
You really can't mix them. So if you decide to go Orbi you'll have to ditch your Google Wifi and go all Orbi. Google Wifi vs Orbi is more about speed and consistency to your devices. Orbi has Wifi 6 so you get faster and more consistent speed and device handling along with other premium features it offers. A 3-pack is around $400-600. If you are doing fine with Google Wifi then stick with it. It's a solid router/mesh network system.

@@Zachus I’m watching your videos and others religiously after getting google fiber gig internet LOL. I’m learning a lot that I never knew before. Even the cables I had aren’t up to it either so I got cat 6 today. Cat 6 seemed to be the winner from what I saw. I had cat 5. I actually need outdoor cat wire. CMX is for outdoors I believe? They only have it in those big box rolls. I don’t need that much. I’m gonna have wires all over the house lol. I liked the google nest outdoor iq camera but they don’t sell them anymore. I’m not getting the full 1000 up and down on my network. I have the netgear nighthawk x6ac3200 router tri band. It actually covers my whole house very well I just need coverage outside and the front yard for those camera I wanna put. Are those orbis suppose to give me the full speed I’m paying for? I don’t think I need a mesh system though for the inside. I was gonna buy the new nighthawk router but I saw your review on it lol. You did it with the orbi. I actually bought the ac3200 like 7 years ago or so and it’s still relevant today lol. Amazing.
Would none of these work if you already have a pre-existing router/modem?
Yeah they will work. If you have a combo you'll need to put it in bypass or passthrough mode.
@@Zachus I looked at the back of my router/modem. I got all the Ethernet Cable ports used. Is it possible to take 1 of the ethernet connections plugged into my router/modem and put it in the google wifi or will that mess things up? All I know is I have 1 for the solar stuff in my house, 1 for a Cloud device, 1 for a security cam box. Can't recall if there was anything else, but like I said all the ports are filled.
I’m considering this. But it means I have to turn my virgin media hub into a modem and I’ll lose the use of 3 Ethernet ports. I use one to hardwire the tv, one for the ps5 and one for the pc and Xbox at the other side of the house. They are all hardwired. I’m trying to solve the issue of iPads and phones not being able to be used all over the home. But I don’t want to sacrifice my hard wired products. Nothing is better than a hardwired piece of kit
I have one google WiFi router and I’m planning to buy google nest WiFi. Will the connect with each other?
Yes, they will work together.
Hey so If I use the Google wifi router, is it compatible with the nest points? I thought only the nest wifi router is compatible with Google wifi points.
The are all compatible, did you watch the video? 😁 The only thing is Google Wifi to a Nest Point will not give you any extra bang, where as the Nest Router to a Google Wifi point can in some cases give you some better speeds and handling but nothing to write home about.

What do you recommend for a 100mbps 2 story 1700 ft house?
I think Nest or Google wifi is great, I think you'll be happy with Google Wifi the best. amzn.to/364KNXj
Google wifi
My Costco stopped selling the rounded edge and are back to the hockey puck only
Yeah it's because Nest Wifi has performed so badly. They are working on a new one
@@Zachus also no 802.11 AX which is a big downside for Google.
If you have under 500Mbps and just need an easy setup then Google Wifi is a rock star. Solid system but in bad need of an upgrade with Wifi 6 and to maintain extra RJ45 connections in satellites etc... Hopefully they realize the errors and come back with a new solid system that will go to 1 gig and bang out
i already have a nest wifi. my basement, second floor, attic, and back yard lacks the higher speeds. shall i purchase the nest point, or shall i get the google wifi pucks? theyre both the same in price.
I would do Nest to stay the same. Keep it the same is always best than adding in legacy stuff
cool....thanks for the quick response brother
Is there a way to get the Google wifi build a mesh with my Linksys router
You can add Google Wifi to another router, it will be a new network though. You can't extend your Linksys out with Google if you are trying to keep the same network.
hey bro, do you need any addition system with google wifi? do you required to pay a monthly fees or any subscriptions?
No subscription fees, wifi routers and mesh systems are yours when you buy them. You will need a modem from your ISP. hope this helps
@@Zachus then if I still need a internet service provider why am I buying the google WiFi in the first place? I thought the google WiFi take the place of a internet service from a independent internet service company like sudden link time Werner or others.
Declan, your ISP provider provides internet to your home or business. There's no way to get this free and you have to pay for it and pay for the speed you want. You get this into your home with a Modem or Modem/Router combo depending on your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Then to get that Internet out around your home as Wifi for Wireless devices to connect and use that internet you need a Wifi Router. Most ISP providers charge a monthly fee for this equipment or/and give you really bad low grade stuff. So most people want to buy their own and control it because in the long run its much cheaper than paying a monthly fee and you get to take advantage of your speed on your wifi devices such as your phone or laptop... Hope this helps
having an issue with getting ethernet wired wifi from main house to the pool house with a blend of google mesh and google nest. i have 1 google mesh plugged into the router with two google mesh points in the main house. i ran an ethernet cable from one of the points to a nest router in the pool house. app shows weak signal which id assume means its not recognizing being plugged in. any tips??
You can't do this. Nest Wifi has a dedicated Router and it can't be used as a point. So it needs to be the on connected to the Modem/Router and then reset your Google Wifi that's connected to your router now and add it back as a point into the system. Otherwise you're going to have to create a separate network with Nest Wifi to the Pool House. Also make sure your ethernet cable is connected and carrying a strong signal. Connect a laptop or something to it to test it.
Hope this helps.
@@Zachus thank you!
I'm a bit confused about the speed and the wired connection. Google WIFI is AC1200 which can have speed up to 400Mbs, Nest is AC2200 and can have twice the speed. You've mentioned much lower speeds....
New video coming on the nest pro. But yes Google wifi is more consistent on speed then the nest wifi. Most people have had issues with it. Google wifi is still preferred or go to orbi ax4200 or 6 if you need more premium ua-cam.com/video/XOzcfCdtOAY/v-deo.html
I’m gonna wait before i buy but someone please answer.
So i rent a room out of a 3 story house. Shitty wifi with all these people obviously like terrible. what would be the best way to make that better with one of these. can i just use one as a router in my room or do i have to go in the main room w the house router and have one connected and bring one to my room i don’t know i’m lost just someone recommend something :)
Great question. you can just buy one of these, I'd recommend Google Wifi and that's all you need, this way you have your own network. You would need to connect it to their modem/router. Do you have a wall RJ45 (Network) adaptor in your room that connects to the internet? If so then you can use this. If you have to put one by their modem/router in another room then you'll need 2-3 to get it up to your room depending on far it is from your room but you can setup your own WIFI name, password that only you have and access with your devices this way. You may want to ask them if you don't have a direct connection wired wall jack in your room.

@@Zachus i believe i do have like an ethernet cable cord outlet in my room but would i need to connect one of the devices like plugged into the router and then have an ethernet run all through the house a big cord to my room into my tv xbox or computer whatever i’m doing
If you have a laptop or your TV, hook it up to the connection in your room. Run a speed test with speedtest.net and see if you getting anything. If you are then you are good. You just need one Google Wifi and it'll cover your room. You run a cable from your Google Wifi to your TV if you need it to be hard wired. xBox and most TVs are wifi now. If you need to hook more than one thing up to your devices with a Ethernet Cable, then you'll need to get a hub as well and cables to run from the hub to your devices.
@@Zachus your the best bro seriously appreciate that.
I live in a hotel and I'm looking to purchase my own wifi. Does the Google Wifi require access to the hotel wifi in order for it to work, or does the Google Wifi come with its own service that does NOT need the Hotel's access? Thanks so much!
All wifi routers have to have direct access to an internet connection. Some hotels have wired connections so. you think you are good but most hotels require a login to access that internet. If they don't and you can just plug it in and go surf then it might work. It won't boost your speed though much as hotels throttle pretty hard per IP address. I've lived in Hotels too so I totally get it. All traffic will still be monitored through the hotel as well if you are trying to avoid this you need a solid VPN active on your devices. Hope this helps.
@@Zachus Awesome! Thanks so much
@@honestlyonnie Get a travel router. It lets you setup your own network off the hotel wifi/ethernet and some even let you tunnel your own VPN though the router

I received two routers not a point and router for my google nest, how do I setup
You received two Nest Routers or Google Wifi Routers? Google Wifi all of them look the same, the software makes one the router and the other points.
Nest Wifi is different. If you have two routers, you would just try to connect one as a point and see if they will do the setup for you. Not sure because these are configured differently. Might have to reach out to Google. Why did you get 3 routers?
@@Zachus I have two NEST routers, order on Amazon. I just went to google and they said I can setup one as a point
Cool, I had a feeling it would work the same as Google Wifi, the software/app should handle that for you
I've had nothing but trouble with my wifi after installing the Nest wifi. Wish I'd never 'upgraded'.
SAME, I've had friends that have had ZERO issues but I won't use it or recommend it. I'm a huge fan of Eeors for lower end now and Orbi 6
Very useful. My problem is reach. I have two Google WiFi devices, one as a router in my living room and the other one as a mesh in the upstairs master bedroom. When the master bedroom's door is closed, I get a "weak connection" result for the mesh. When the door is open, the connection is good. I am wondering whether the Google Nest WiFi has a better reach.
Nest Wifi is not better in my opinion. How many Pucks do you have?
Maybe you could add one to boost the signal under or by your bedroom?
@@Zachusthanks! I have two pucks and I’ll add two more. The nest is double the price but I’ll go for the Google WiFi !
@@Zachus Nest router claims to have reach of 2200 sqft while Google WiFi has 1500. So would it not be worthwhile buying nest router and then using the two pucks as points?
Nest claims a lot of things. You're welcome to try it. It is hit or miss. Mainly a lot of other issues, drops and lags. This is why its hard to find in stores and why Costco and others still carry the Google Wifi legacy because it's a solid product.
@@Zachus Thanks again for the valuable advice. Can I please ask your advice once more? My modem is in a storage room where I can send the ethernet to the living room or the master bedroom. This gives me three options: (1) directly connect the modem to the Google WiFi router in the storage room; (2) send the ethernet to the living room and connect the router there, or (3) send the ethernet to the master bedroom and connect the router there. The modem only has a single ethernet output port. Is there a way I can double the port and send ethernet to both the living room and the master bedroom? Can I then set up two Google WiFi routers, namely one in the living room and one in the master bedroom? I can then add a mesh somewhere in between both routers.
I have google WiFi can I add one google nest under same network?
Nest Wifi and Google Wifi are compatible but if you add Nest to the Google Wifi as a point you won't get increased speeds or not much because the router is still legacy.
Can you just use the router or you need the little satellites
You can just use the router. I did this in a small 700sq ft. Apartment. Depends on your needs
