    Jane I have to tell you that my heart broke when you told the story of the gift you gave to your grandmother. I thought it was a cruel reaction honestly but I am grateful that it didn’t stop you from stitching. Your work is gorgeous and I don’t care what the back looks like.

    Yes, always make sure that you're threading the needle at the correct end! 🤣 Jane, I'm right there with you as you were giving your project to your grandmother. I had a similar relationship with my father. You should be proud of that girl with the scissors. She took a stand. Those are tough memories but they make you who you are now. You both are a joy. Thank for your videos! ❤

    What a lovely way to start my Sunday watching you two. Pure joy. Jane your brown hardanger piece is gorgeous. Your channel has so inspired me to try more hardanger. I did pause the video to go shopping in Julie’s store. So fun! I bought Sophie. It will be a distant future project once I get more experience under my belt, I mean needle, but I want to have the pattern now before that future start date when I would have to pay $250 on eBay to get this “beautiful, hard to find, out of print” beauty. (I don’t think Sister Faith would like my long, run on sentence!) I’m sure your grandma would like a do-over of that day. Thanks you both for bringing so much joy into the world.

    Oh Julie you are not alone. My current full coverage project (that I am now working on) I started 6 times until I came up with the right fabric and right method (full cross or tent stitch). So don’t feel you are a loser. My philosophy is you need to love what you are stitching. If you don’t like something change it. Life is too short to stitch on something you are not happy with. Before you give up on single strand stitching try another fiber. I think the fiber you were using may have been the problem as it does tend to untwist easily. Another great video I really do enjoy your videos and look forward to the next

    I love the Nurge hoops! I use the circular ones and I've not seen the square versions. I like how the come in different depths because they hold the fabric so much better.

    I have a problem with starting projects and not finishing them, so when I picked up cross stitch again, I vowed not to start a new piece until I finished the first one I started. Well, I am now considering starting a second project because my first one has me in a rut. So, I can understand why you have more than one going at a time. The first project I picked is pretty large and it's going to take a long time to finish, so maybe something smaller and less detailed will be a good distraction and a nice break before I tackle the harder one again.

    I just discovered your channel earlier this week and it's been a true gift of laughter and understated sarcasm.
    Julie -- a question about ironing (I know my audience here). I've recently purchased fabric that's arrived folded. Do I iron out those creases before stitching or wait to iron until my stitching is done? Steam? I appreciate any advice. Thanks!

    • @runningwithscissorsstitchi5320
      @runningwithscissorsstitchi5320  5 місяців тому +1

      I personally iron before with a pressing cloth (cotton flour sack type dish towel) that way if there is a crease fade from perhaps being exposed to light on a shelf in the shop, or a slight soil line from being folded. I then choose which side after pressing I want to use for the "front" of my design.😊
