I used to work on that ship in 2018/19 3:37 🛳️😜 maybe I was even there lol That scene btw, 7:17 is what the crew or even guests fear the most: seeing the ship leaving without being inside of it 😱😭🛳️😂😂😂😂😂 Good times back then. I will get in touch when I get back to Sydney , can't wait to use moment gear at opera house / darlinghurst and that area with the big coca cola sign 🤗
5.13.... Simple, brilliant and elegant solution to side screen mush. That was great. ~ If nothing else, wanted to send over props for a great idea. Cheers!
Like your content, sub, i think that the blur is part of the charm of anamorphic, having entirly sharp edges takes away that hollywood vintage feel, this softly draws your attention to the main subject and takes away the over sharpness of the phone processing.. Great review by the way
Greybeards? I'm only 33 and I remember all that. I even remember the back of those old CRT TVs and the screw YES ACTUAL SCREWS you had to undo a bit and then hook up your various connectors or Y-splitters to... I take offense! (LOL! I don't, it's j/k) *mumbles something 'bout not having grey in my beard...*
in this time it is very normal to feel grey in the beard when you are 25 years+ and don't follow the camera developments of smartphones for instance because you can think they are amateur devices. Ok, this is an amateur anamorphic lens, but if you go to the Moment or other ones I can imagine a production value that is in some cases greater then a 10 bit mirrorless camera. It is all about that anamorphic distortion that looks so cinematic, I guess.
Hands up here. Although I was one of those teens who would grin and bear the letterboxing on a "widescreen" DVD on a 4:3 TV just because I knew I was seeing the whole image. I shunned the "fullscreen" chop jobs, even though they looked better, because I knew bits of the image had been cropped.
I got the Ulanzi for my DJI Pocket 2 and am very disappointed. Getting nowhere close to your results here on phone, are they different optics. The best of your shots are quite amazing in detail, your CU to the camera is superb. Although I noticed consistently more blur right edge of the frame than left? That time-lapse sequence of the Liner (was on it in Dec ) coming in is spectacular! Love the while sequence 👍 Overall, cannot fathom why so many are fixated by the aberrations of Anamorphic lenses, the wide Aspect Ratio is surely the distinguishing feature IOM!
Oh my dog, the left and right 1/4 of the frame (especially the right) are so horrendous! This pretty much tells me that adapters are an area where I would only be interested in the best quality ones (regardless of price) - there's just no way I would use this adapter, it seriously looks so bad lol. Thanks for showing us!
Great review! I shoot with Open Camera and Lumio Camera apps to shoot flat profile videos in full sensor mode (4:3), in 2048:1536 or 2592:1944 resolution. This lens can help me shoot 16:9 while using the full 4:3 sensor. P.S. I have Moto G5S+
interesting review blunty thanks for the effort. i have the letus gopro anamorphic adapter. which i quite like, it was about $200. may i ask if you defished your video before you desqueeze ? i find that helps with pans and tilting and squares things up nicely. At $60 its a good way to dip your toes into anamorphics however i suspect that at $60 the lens coating and glass design may leave a bit to be desired ultimately. the only thing i could add is perhaps using some tape to secure the adapter from rotating as a few of those flares are getting away from the horizontal.
That thing is brilliant! If only there was a way to livestream desqueezed anamorphically from a phone (coz I don't think there's a way but someone can correct me if there is lol)
Usually it's better to save any sort of processing to your editing software because the tools are higher quality and have more precise user controls. Changing aspect ratios specifically risks aliasing.
Don’t get rid of the blurry sides! That distortion is one of the best parts of anamorphic filming and organically draws attention to center frame.

Your photography videos are the best. Especially, product reviews. Thanks for another good one.

Watching this on a 3440x1440 monitor. I'm enjoying it.

Hands up for that square screen, here, ha.
The video looks nice on my 21:9 Monitior.
The Price of the Lens is very good.
Great Video! Love the footage and poignant info on the lens. Thank you

Not bad at all! It really does look very nice. Also, 4:3 letterbox veteran here. ha ha.
Think this is one for the kits to test the waters with. By the way, your piece to camera had a touch of Kevin McCloud about it.
I had to google who that was. You're so goddamn old-dad dude ;P
Great video blunty, your camera, and pc videos are top notch and also very entertaining

Someone could 3D print a more iPhone specific holder that more or less fits and sits.
Or make phone specific cases, which is what Moment does, aside from making the lenses.
This company makes cases guys...
Jesus Christ man. Your voice is relaxing.
I could of used this a few months ago... Very cool none the less
✋Gen Xer . . . happily RIP 4:3 cathode ray tube, rabbit ear, analog gigantic paperweights! EDIT: Oh, and sub'd!
Thanks. Good review.
Great video, love these little lens. Have you tried using a C mount lens on a micro 4/3 DSLR?

Hi, great video, do we have options to fit a filter, maybe with adapter?
I think i found that they selling 52mm adapter for the anamorphic
Great video as always, I'll pick one up
Is it me or is there a slight chromatic aberration in the footage? Did the lens do that?
There is, look at all the corners
That thing is brilliant! If only there was a way to livestream desqueezed anamorphically from a phone (coz I don't think there's a way but someone can correct me if there is lol)
Donn Alfred Mendoza Filmic Pro can help with that!
I’m looking for ultrawide lens for iPhone 7 Plus
8:12 why desqueeze manually?
