I have a 69 plate S4 Saloon in tango red, same options spec as the one in the video. Had the car 2 years now and did do my research beforehand. Was hard to find one but eventually got my car from Audi dealer in Exeter. Was a good "test" drive back home to central Scotland! Car been amazing, has the perfect blend of comfort, power, luxury and economy. Long term trip computer showing 41.3 mpg after the 16k milesI have put on it.
My 2020 S4 Avant was Mythos Black with the red interior (and black calipers!) and it had the C+S pack. From memory the lease deal was cheaper if you opted for one with the C+S pack, Audi must have thought it was going to have better residuals. I was swayed by the 360 view that you get with the C+S pack and can confirm it's brilliant. I also wanted the Black trim option but it doesn't give you anything extra over the 'bling' base trim so I spent the money on having the panoramic sunroof. Regardless and as I commented on your previous video, the gearbox mapping let the car down, I wonder if any of your viewer's have had theirs remapped or if Audi did relent and offered their own upgrade. Overall I was disappointed with the car, not what I expected of an Audi 'S' model
Thanks for the feedback Richard. You are spot on re C&S pack enhancing residuals, I remember Alex at Audi was very proud it got it's own CAP code which meant basically it was an individual model e.g Audi S4 Avant (Comfort and Sound) was the model name. And this meant it had its own depreciation plot which as you say was less than a car without it. I've not had any issues with the gearbox mapping or maybe I've just got used to it? There was some initial delay which usually resulted in a slingshot launch as I went deeper into the throttle travel to get it to move but haven't yet worked out if it's because I was in Efficient mode which is a bit turgid. I haven't looked hard but this thread suggests Audi so have an update for the ZF 8 speeder www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/387455/
Knowing your options is essential when buying a used Audi. My B8 S4 has over £10K in options. I used to save the PDF brochures for new cars periodically (until Audi stopped producing them), so I knew what was potentially available when later looking for used examples. Although not so easy to reference now, with base specs quite generous it is not so much of a problem. For example looking at B9.5 RS 4 that I am keeping an eye on, all I need is the Comfort & Sound pack to give everything I want and examples come up quite frequently.
So they stopped the PDF brochures? I can understand no paper versions but digital is quite handy. Must have done that with B9.5 which is also when they ditched the handbook wallet and stuck the owner's manual in a simple paper envelope. Eco drive or saving money? With regards to what is essential, I know a lot of people who enjoyed adaptive cruise on a Golf won't buy a car without it and it's quite rare on Audi and Porsche, likewise the 3D cameras make life a lot easier. Not only in parking bays but also allow you to get close to the kerb without touching wheels. Problem with comfort and sound pack is the integration of keyless entry - I know it's a theft risk but when Porsche state on their website it could make you £120k vulnerable to theft, you've got wonder how any insurer allows it
The loss of keyless entry would be worse than me having to wind my windows up and down. I simply cannot imagine a car without it. Just what you get used to. Recently spent 6 weeks in various courtesy cars and not having it most annoying.
Not fully relevant but throwing my tuppence in about the parking assist pack..absolutely love it! Got it on my recently purchased C7.5 RS6 and the 360 camera view is fantastic for being able to get its fat arse into spaces I normally wouldn't even attempt. The flared arches are so deceiving and at times I've left it accidentally nearly 12 inches from the kerbside whilst trying not to scrub the hugely expensive vossen 21" wheels that a previous owner forked out big time for. Not had the chance to try the self parking thingy out yet, need to find a quiet street or car park to give it a go as I'd no doubt look a proper boob trying to do it quickly in town without practising it first. But overall as the car won't be doing many miles it'll no doubt be a novelty for many more months to come! Still can't take to the B9 S4 really, knowing it's a diesel will undoubtedly have put off so many 4 ring purists but I understand it does have its' uses. The example in the vid seems very decently specced though, wonder if that TDi is capable of 170+ mph with the 155 restriction now removed?
I have a Turboblue S4 that was initially registered in October 2019, as a show car for Audi. It had 200km on the clock when I took delivery in April 2021. It has the same specs as you mention here that your car has.
14:40 You may already know, but you can set the little “star” button on the steering wheel to change drive select mode. I find it much easier to use then taking a hand off the wheel
I didn't know that so thanks! I've seen in MMI in can be programmed but Drive Select wasn't listed but I will look again. If it's not I am pretty sure it can be coded with VCDS. The 2 issues with the exisiting Drive Select button are that it's on the wrong side for RHD (not relocated from LHD) and the buttons are not very ergonomic being small and with a hard bit between them. If the star button does the trick I will be well chuffed :)
@@volkswizard exactly, it’s not practical at all. I’ve got a B9 not B9.5. And I’ve set the Button to drive select. Makes life sooo much easier now. Only difference now is you have the updated MMI. Hopefully you can get it working, it’s the little things that make you enjoy the car even more. It’s essentially can be used as the “RS” button you get on RS vehicles. I actually like the layout of the buttons, and I personally don’t struggle when pressing them. Maybe they could do with being embossed slightly to get a better feel.
I’ve got a 2021 SQ5 from new. For a 500 mile a week cruncher, the 3.0 diesel has been the perfect engine really. Having read that BMEW are dropping their equivalent engines and yhr new Audi refresh of the A4/Q5 I think the days of a big diesel in a car are sadly on the way out.
Audi short changed the UK. Many really useful extras on the A4 are available on the continent but not for the UK market. Adaptive dampers are a good example. They were fitted to the cars used by the press on the B9 release, but then not available for us to buy unless you opted for the expensive Vorsprung package. If you had just read the press reviews you were going to be disappointed in the ride and comfort, particularly if you had sports suspension.
Thanks for the info Alastair. So was that the B9 in 2015 or the B9.5 (facelift) like my car in 2019? I don't think Vorsprung existed before but could be wrong. Also you description of the spec and reviews of press cars echoes the B9.5. A good case in point is the evo magazine review which was very positive but I bet it would have been less good if the car was passive damper/standard rear diff.
@@volkswizard I was referring to the 2015 introduction. You are correct I think about the Vorsprung coming later. I think, Before that comfort adaptive suspension was an option.
Very nice spec Andrew, surprised they didn’t add B&O. I have a 2017 B9 S5 with every single option totalling £13k! Haven’t been able to see another one with it and absolutely love it. Swapped my 2014 rs7 for it and it was a great move indeed.
I was intrigued by the original SQ5 TDI but there is no getting away from the laws of physics and a low riding estate suits me better both from a chassis dynamics and efficiency perspective. Might think again if it doesn't stop raining and flooding round here is a permanent feature of the landscape :)
We don't get S4 Avants here across the pond, so my closest alternative was the S5 Sportback. But if we had S4 Avants, I very well might have gotten one.
this "lane assist" thingy, does it only work on lanes, or normal A roads, B roads as well ? is it for passing/following tractors on lanes, what EXACTLY does it do ?
I will probably get round to doing that as it's not too late yet though don't feel so precious over this one for some reason - weird as I don't ever want to be parted with it at the moment :)
S4 attracting some interesting comments lol. How much more £ was vorsprung model? In Oz we only get 3 litre petrol turbo v six high spec 8 speed auto - yours is a great spec 👍🍑
YT need to sort out those bot comments! It's been really hard to get the original prices but What Car? says base model at launch was just under £50k and Vorsprung was just under £60k so pretty much exactly £10k which with the sunroof and comfort and sound pack chucked in is a good deal IF you really want and will use most of the bits. Sunroofs are a bit marmite and not necessarily something I'd want even if it was free due to all the potential issues (leaks/rattles/cracks). Weirdly it's the Black Edition that seems most prevalent on the used market over here.
lovely car, interior`s ok (needs the T5jerry touch), so rip the carbon fibre out , replace with wood trim, get leather steering wheel covered in wood, theb bob`s your uncle, fanny`s your aunt, and "our damon" is back in the 90`s................🤗🤗
Some really helpful info on what to look out for in relation to the S4 Avant spec and a good walkthrough on the functionality of those options. I think you struck gold with the car you bought. Thanks Andrew, great content as always.
Washed day before for filming & not driven as roads wet. I’ve done over 1000 miles in a few weeks so it’s definitely not been stood around much recently

The interior carbon overlays were a bargin and lift the cabin massively.

I love the petrol version of this s4
That bird sure is happy in your video, lol. 😂
Tell me about it! I heard it only when editing and couldn't believe it especially with the mic set to noise cancelling mode (green light illuminated)
I thought it was outside my house 😂😂😂
😂it was a bit chirpy

Had the 360 cameras retro-fitted to my A5, love it. It was a real pain in the arse for the fitter though. My bank balance didn’t like it either.
I bet on both counts! On plus side if it saves you a shunt in a car park it will pay for itself pretty quickly :)

I have a 2018 SQ5 petrol and can’t fault it.

What a great find Andrew a lovely car
this "lane assist" thingy, does it only work on lanes, or normal A roads, B roads as well ? is it for passing/following tractors on lanes, what EXACTLY does it do ?
Are you being serious Jerry?! It only works on roads that are called xxx Lane. They are working on ones that end in Road, Croft, Avenue, Boulevard etc
Looks like it needs a coat of Bilt Hamber wax underneath 👍
I will probably get round to doing that as it's not too late yet though don't feel so precious over this one for some reason - weird as I don't ever want to be parted with it at the moment :)
I own a 2017 Audi A4 saloon with £13.500 optional extras
Yes I can confirm. My 2020 S4 has none of these extras. But I still love it.... ❤
Wonderful motor think you've dropped on with that one😊👍
Thanks Malc 👍
And they didn’t add B&O 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️… that was all it needed to make it the perfect spec car 😢

Really good spec Andrew, lots of great extras! Worked out well getting this particular car
What is the difference between your car and a Vorsprung car? It almost sounds like you have a Vorsprung, rather than base. I am lost. :)
I do, really, like that car
Those wheels R stunning 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Glad you like them Brian, they are growing on me
This video would be MAGNIFICENT in 4K Damon???
Still my favourite channel.
Thanks very kind of you to say Sean, thanks so much 👍🏻
Great video. Keep em coming ❤
What's with all the bot replies
No idea, I've reported all of them. Happens every time but I wasn't around at 7am to whack-a-mole them this time
Weird, I've got the exact same spec on mine.
Nice one Bob, is it an early one ?
