Get your self some Bilt Hamber Trace-less glass cleaner… its a game changer…. Just don’t show the wife otherwise you will be buying a second bottle straight away because she will steel it!
Probably your best road trip video so far? Maybe a new camera or a better content edit? The good weather probably helped. Sad to say I agree with you on the Dacia thing, and will order a Bigster when available as the do it all car but keep a fun car obviously.
Thanks! Means a lot! A big difference this time was nearly every segment was filmed with an external mic rather than the internal mic on the iphone. Some things are filmed under pressure so you don't want to add to the hassle of connecting the mic but previous videos have taught me to make the effort. The bit leaving Calais with all the clicking was internal mic and I listened to this back and decided from now on it was external mic. All shot on Iphone 12, think I need to buy another just for filming as having to disconnect from CarPlay each time is a pain. Yes the weather definitely helped in many ways :)
@@volkswizard Think the shots through the side windows of the stunning scenery just make it more interesting as opposed to the straight ahead road view. Maybe invest in a 360 camera and chose you shots after the trip?
Hey, great video, you do a great job of explaining routes and hotels maybe in midwinter you should make a video about ‘car friendly hotels’ and ‘driving routes in Europe’ I’m sure this information will help so many 👍
Thanks Fozzy! Car friendly hotels are quite tricky in France. Many have parking you can’t reserve and if you arrive late (as you will on a road trip) you are left to public parking which in a UK reg car is an issue as thieves target foreign cars. Compiling a list of ones where you can park safely is a good idea. I’m in the new Nomad Hotel in Dijon now and it’s got a secured car park you can reserve so is ideal and not dear
Interesting you should say that, somebody said that the last time I was there and yes there are some no stopping signs in front of the pits but nothing obvious where I was parked by the pavilion. In fact the French registered Puma reversed somewhat precariously down to where it was parked presumably after seeing that sign, which is about 1/2 way up the pits bit. I am sure the cops come down sporadically and issue tickets. It's silly really as French roads have loads of laybys and some are a lot more dangerous than that hard shoulder.
@@volkswizard Yes I remember you weren’t allowed to park where you were (by the side of the road), but there is a small car park just behind the stands where apparently you could, but then you’d be without your car. Enjoying the road trip videos 👍🏽
Hi does the diesel s4 have same horsepower as petrol? I’m assuming more torque in diesel? I wanted a s4 or s3 but was thinking about how quickly I would use the petrol and the TDI sounds like a bargain
The tolls are a bigger hence why I try and dodge where possible. Troyes to Dijon is easy on N roads and Reims to Troyes is too. Someone recommended the N roads to Marseille too from Grenoble and this is a BIS route so well signposted 👍
Hi watched your re view on the Audi rsq3,, test drove 1 last week and wasn’t that impressed,, lag is terrible and didn’t feel that fast to me,, the interiors are below par with only the mmi to lift it Watched your review on this s4 so decided to try the sq5 tfsi, cracking engine and auto 8 speed box is great The interior is miles better than the q3 Cheers Liked watching this latest video
The RSQ3 definitely has some lag but it's the same drivetrain as RS3 and it's not something people complain about too much. Above current A3 and Q3 interior quality does become proper Audi so not surprised SQ5 is better inside. Not driven the SQ5 TFSI but I'm sure it works well with that 8 speed box.
@@volkswizard agree never heard of the lag on the 5 pot it was horrendous,, only light on the dash was the sos problem but guessing shouldn’t be a problem. Never been a massive fan of the s tronic 7 speed auto as puts you in 5th at 30mph,, the zf 8 speed is miles better
Another great video!! I've just got the ferry from Plymouth to Santander and travelled down to the Algarve via the Douro Valley & Porto, The N222 road in Portugal was voted one of the best in the world. Perhaps a route for your next trip?
Thanks Joshua! Yes definitely on the list to go to Spain and Portugal soon and that ferry is the way to do it. Was it OK? I don't like spending too long on ships and came back from Spain that was many years ago when you couldn't get fuel in France and it was very unstable through the Bay of Biscay. I gather ships are a lot better at dealing with bad weather now so maybe not an issue?
Thanks! It’s a big crown Oris I bought over 20 years ago. Only wear it on special occasions or when travelling because I know it’s on UK time unlike phones, cars and computers that sometimes change automatically when abroad
Hi Andrew fantastic video with great scenery. Would it be possible to give a little more detail on how the French toll roads work costs etc v travelling on the “A” roads please?
Interesting, diesels generally run a fair bit cooler than petrol but the engineers can make anything do anything these days by adding complexity, running too cool was always an issue with diesels, sometimes running the heater would call the gauge to drop back from 90!
Hey John, they are RB 4309-M, mildly embarrassed to say they are Ferrari Ray Bans but thankfully the branding is very low key unlike newer versions. I bought them in a sale to be rarely used but my last plain black pair had the usual polarised film bubbling so I decided to start using these daily seeing as they were just sat there and very pleased so far. As you'd expect they are perfect for driving and cut down glare even in situations where you wouldn't think glasses were required such as rain. I am sure most normal Raybans are fine but I polarised lenses make a massive difference, you spot them as they say 'Rayban P' on lense.
@@volkswizard I did suspect they were the scuderia ray ban, it just wasn't clear to me in the video. No need to feel any embarrassment Andrew, ray ban scuderia are a very good and stylish pair of glasses. I really like them that's why I commented on them. Thanks for the reply and keep up the great content.
Thanks! Well the Dacia is a tricky one but it's basically a do anything car and lacks the pretense of your typical SUV and is priced very competitively as a result. It's ironic because Dacia is a Romanian outpost of the Renault empire but they seem to be developing a more desirable product range.
@@JohnGuidetti751 I’ve traveled in the ‘Romanian Taxi’ they’re awful. I also think someone that has grown up with them probably has more experience and expertise than any person in an export country. Look at what happened to Lada and other crap vehicles
Thanks John. The S4 looks good from a distance and is indeed shiny after a lot of elbow grease but black paint doesn't stay good for long. It's filthy right now and looks even better, well used, even has a big smudge of diesel from the filler to the rear bumper as I spilled a bit and it say inside the flap.
Great journey to the Med and having done this trip in a hired Fiat Punto you certainly had the right car for the task and great to get off the motorway and enjoy local sights 🏆🏎🎯

53mpg? That's better than my vw golf 2.0 pd tdi with stage 1 remap... damn Audi knows what they are doing

I did almost the same route as you are doing in this video in June and the tolls both ways amount to over £150. Ouch!
