Wolfe becoming the goat of pokemon. Not necessarily for his sucess in the sport but his influence and attracting audiences and bridging gaps. A true inspiration.
Wolf just wanted to say thanks for not just setting this up, but for all you've done for Pokemon. You are by far the biggest reason so many people got into Pokemon during the pandemic and these last few years, and seeing you continue to expand this growth with events like this is just the cherry on top. I love the wideo format, but I'm glad you found what you love and have grown not only a career out of it, but brought competitive Pokemon to the maintream audience with this latest growth/changes to your channel. P.S: tanks for keeping this whole tournament in one video. It's annoying to have to physically find Pokemon tournament individual matches on UA-cam to watch the whole tournament. Very glad to e able to watch the whole thing without searching the crevices of the search pages to find the next match.
Iv played pokemon for more than 20years and NEVER once played comp. Until i found Wolfe's channel and now im hooked. Building teams has to be my favourite though
I /LOVE/ Wolfey's commentator energy. Your excitement is infectious AND you're clear enough to help us non-competative players understand and further enjoy these matches. Hats off to all of the Japanese players who showed up- their games were amazing to watch and had me on the edge of my seat!
Tbf worlds was a horrible event with many many problems and so many people banned for not being a full time billionaire Pokémon player, Worlds was a fucking horrible event this year and i honestly honestly think this is a better event, Also this is an event specifically for Japan since they get no events normally, at least people didn't have heat stroke while waiting outside for 6-10 fucking hours, Seriously worlds was disgusting this year, Multiple people quit competitive because of this event, Plus, This event will probably have hundreds of thousands if not millions of views, I think that's more then a few hundred irl spectators, Also how does Wolfey not get help here lol, He literally doesn't know the language, Yet still wants to hold an event specifically because he wants to show the world how good Japanese players are, This in my personal opinion is a lot better then worlds.@@dang8965
Giving the popularity of the franchise, Pokemon tournaments are embarrassment. They look like a lan festivals from 2010's Dreamhack etc. LoL Worlds CS Majors Dota TI, you name it. There is a standard for esport these days. Those tournaments attract hundred of thousand viewers, in-spite being less popular than Pokemon. Maybe it's notfair comparison, they are probably more entertaining to watch, though even Hearthstone, same turn based RNGish game did it better than Pokemon
Once again Wolfe this was a genius idea for a video and a very cool thing to try to show how good the Japanese players are to more of the world much respect man
You guys should be really proud of yourself of the commentary and this tournament in general. Congratulations to all the players in this tournament. Such good reads throughout and the back and forth was so good. Really shows how great you all are at this game.
You know I never thought of this when this vid came out but I think I see what this is now. I think Wolfe surmised that Gamefreak might be paying attention to his vids back when they just so happened to change Ice types the exact way he suggested. I think this tournament is a great way to show his ability to manage events as well as commentate. Highlight his inroads to local (Japan) players. It’s what every athlete/competitor wants when they have been in a sport for a long time. To secure a position when they decide it’s time to retire (even if that may be way in the future, I think he’s not more than a few worlds left in him). Great business move, if anyone deserves it it’s him. And we win too with an awesome vid.
@@masterandexpert288 I made this comment at the beginning of the video, and once I finished I would have liked to add that I found very funny the latest matches regarding commentary because they were all together commenting, laughing and screaming lol Pokémon gets people together and make us get to know new friends, I think it's fascinating
Fantastic Energy, each commentary makes you come back to the video if you have it playing in the background - the synced reactions with the Noooos and Oooohs really feeds into said energy - more of this - great work
Killer! That was a lot of fun to get to watch play out! I’m not at all familiar with the meta since Home, so it was neat to see some returning mons. Glad you and Umbra were able to get this organized!
Thanks for the content, Wolfey. Since first match of Hirofumi I saw your potential, he's very fast for choose your moves, don't hesitate yours desires in the battle! Honestly, I really adimire yours skiils. Does he have a UA-cam channel too? Furthermore, I loved to see this Volcarona set! ✌🏻😎
That Aqua Jet to KO Grimmsnarl before it set up Reflect reminded me of one of my recent online matches, where I used Hisuian Arcanine's ESpeed to knock out a Grimmsnarl that wanted to Light Screen (the fifth time that battle)
Appreciate the editing down to only relevant worthwhile content Nice job, i never watch the official stuff because i never see edited videos from the Pokemon Company...just stupid long ones. 🎉
I know its part of the game and all but somehow I disliked seeing Yusei fist pumping right in front of his opponent literally every single time he gets RNG in his favor. Maybe it gives me the impression of unsportsmanlike behaviour. Anyway, great job setting this up! I love that Wolfey is giving these players a chance to be seen internationally :)
I do not play pokemon pvp at all, well I dont really play latest gens at all, but I do like your videos. They are interesting and I am enjoying your work. :)
Wolfey you're a spectacular match commentator! Yuki is also amazing! And you two are synergize so well! EDIT: Whoa, more different commentators! Awesome! :o I don't recognize some of the voices, could we get a list of who all the wonderful voices are?
Someone mentioned that he might have to recreate the battles from official tournaments. I'm not familiar enough with the rules around if there's access to the videos or if using them in non-official videos is allowed to be able to confirm or deny it but it could be a reason why a worlds vid is taking longer if he's making one
5:46 Wolfe came so close to saying "Shohei is showing off His World Champ difference"

I dont understand a thing about competitive pokemon but this is just fun to watch lol
It's a nice sentiment but chances are that pokemon releasing a new game had some kinda impact.

I wouldn't go that far

making it more relevant than it used to be for sure tho (im not particularly a pokemon player)

And there was no switch disconnect issue in the whole tournament
