I think the rough osage would be my favorite. Something about that texturing and color contrast is very appealing. Part of me wish these weren't so hyped so they'd be more affordable on the secondary. Pretty tapped out for these GECs selling 300+ . Gratz to all those that scored one at retail. These quality made knives are absolutely worth that price. I think that would be cool if they did manufacture a few runs of each knife. Even though each run would still sell out super fast haha.
The Cocobolo covers on those Boys knives are absolutely stunning ! Can’t wait to get one. I think everything going on with GEC is mainly because of COVID & the damn lockdowns. I think if things ever go back to normal, GEC will start back up with SFO’s and making bigger production on each pattern. But I hope they go the route of making longer runs of each pattern in order to make more. It will mean less patterns per year but more availability to those that keep missing out on these patterns. Awesome video as always! Keep up the great work Logan!! Oh yeah that smooth autumn bone #15 Barlow looks sweet.
Great video thank you Logan, your knowledge, information and analysis is awesome. If you like Glitter Gold Acrylic, then good on yer! My Sepia Sawcut has that same raised spring as yours when open, although the gapping isn't as much. Might have to move it on to someone else out there who missed out. Like you, I try not to repeat a handle material in my GEC selection (I don't think of it as a collection) - unless it's Stag! Or ebony...
Thanks for another great video Logan - The info you provide is priceless. I did score (with alot of help from one of my subscibers) an Osage wood & Smooth Autumn Bone version at retail this time around. Have a wonderful day ✌️
Thanks Logan, an honest review is hard to come by these days. As far as being the last barlow GEC produces.... we need a strawberry saw-cut before that happens. Put in the good word and enjoy these in great health!
I have an Osage on the way from a waffle, and have traded the gold and rose barlows. I have a sepia and that will be a keeper since it may be the last Charlie TC Barlow.
Great video man!! Thanks for "learnin" me up a bit and answering a few questions that I kinda always wondered about with GEC, Bill, Charlie, TC & the Glitter gold history.. FYI I pronounce it Co-Co-Bo-Lo
I’ve been giving two thumbs up at the end of my videos since almost the very beginning. Loooong before the thumb incident on GECC. But that was a kerfuffle!
For now his SFO's are toast. You have to stay pegged to the Forum or FB and it take researching and some effort to get one. It won't just be a thing where you can buy one from a dealer. You have to build a relationship with a dealer.
You should become a member of BladeForums and under the Traditionals /Fixed Blades section you will find different discussion threads. One is "What makes a Good Traditional Barlow knife?" That's the best thread for the TC Barlows. There's another thread called "Let's talk about GEC" witch covers everything going on with the Company. Good luck. ✌
How the hell do you even get all these? I've been keeping my eyes out for a long time to get some patterns I like and can never come close to getting any.
I agree bro, I've signed up for email, text notifications and I keep checking every hour. If I do get on one in time they sell out in 3 minutes or so, I don't understand how I'm not fast enough. So frustrating, I'm ready to give GEC the middle finger.
I think when they come out with a highly sout out pattern like the tc barlow they should try to make enough to keep on shelfs for months but when it comes to knives like the 23 or 97 that aren't as popular they should keep there normal production schedules
Yeah, cool knives and all. But it means nothing if nobody can actually buy one. The last few runs I have had 10+ store pages open refreshing every day multiple times and haven't ever seen ANY of them actually for sale. It's ridiculous, and I'm done with GEC unless they stop playing this hard to get exclusive elitist panic buying bullshit.
Having the pages opening and refreshing every now and then is pointless. Subscribe to the dealers email newsletters and social media so you know when they’re actually dropping.
@@KnifeThoughts I said every day, multiple times a day. Including the same day they actually drop. Yeah let me just flood my email with 20 website's spam for one knife I am trying to purchase. Not gonna happen, if GEC wants to be some designer company where you pay six times what it's worth just to actually get a product, fine. But people need to quit acting like that's not what they are, because it is.
I could message ya on BF under SDknifeguy but if you ever sell the rose gold id love to have it. I missed out on every dang one so far. Fingers crossed for the autumn bone and also trying hard to catch an EA42 knife. Perhaps this week it sounds, but my luck hasnt been great lately so we shall see. I know you are after one as well so good luck to you.
I’m ready hopeful that if GEC is actually able to crank out that higher volume that it really hurts the price gouging on the secondary market. It’ll remove the “desperate” buyers to add to their collection.
No, it’s not. They don’t do “seconds” anymore, but when they did they marked them with a “2”. But it’s all very confusing so I understand the misunderstanding.
You or GEC can call it whatever they want. However, to me, if the item has a flaw or flaws, doesn’t get factory warranty and can only be sold from the factory store and not through distributors, it’s a “second”. You are correct it is very confusing, and I believe that’s is intentional as “seconds” doesn’t sound as good as “store”.
If Tidioute Cutlery owns the design and is producing it in their factory why would they feel the need to talk to anybody about it before they produced it?
For the reasons I said in the video. Charlie Campagna has always been a huge part of the e TC. And they did talk with him about it, it was just a misunderstanding.
Another great and thorough video. I do think you’re in a very small demographic of people who are buying ‘more GECs’ based on prior release knowledge. I’m not sure how much that adds to over all scarcity. Even without the handful of people who have the connections to acquire multiple handle materials of instant sell out patterns, these things are gone in literally seconds! While longer production runs (fewer different knives released) may be better for your wallet, it’d be more expensive for most people who would then actually be able to spend money on buying something that it typically unattainable. In any case thanks for showing this run! My hunt continues!

Ah the Glitter Gold barlow...I'll get one someday
To me. I'm just happy to see more GECs. I'm waiting for a hawksbill Farm and Field. Wonder if they have ever done a sowbelly?
It’s been rumored, quite a bit, that Bill would never do a sowbelly or coffin frame, amounts others that I can’t recall right now

Oh there’ll be more Barlows. I’m sure of that.
I love that glitter gold barlow. I really want one in my pocket.
I have an Osage on the way from a waffle, and have traded the gold and rose barlows. I have a sepia and that will be a keeper since it may be the last Charlie TC Barlow.
Have you found the black glitter version yet?
Great video man!! Thanks for "learnin" me up a bit and answering a few questions that I kinda always wondered about with GEC, Bill, Charlie, TC & the Glitter gold history.. FYI I pronounce it Co-Co-Bo-Lo
Double thumbs at the end! Funny little nod to the shenanigans on GECC, even if it wasn’t intentional
I’ve been giving two thumbs up at the end of my videos since almost the very beginning. Loooong before the thumb incident on GECC. But that was a kerfuffle!
I think you are going to get that smooth autumn gold bone TC.
Man you got the best ones. The only one you need now is the silver acrylic.
I just heard about that, so I doubt I’ll get one unfortunately
How do I know when charlie has a SFO

Like atleast you can buy a Case knife, damn.

GEC is the Rolex of knife companies. Overhyped, overpriced and artificial scarcity.

I'll buy the s model right now?????!!!!!!!!!

I hope they keep not announcing releases. It'll make it more fair for everyone to get a knife that wants one to actually use not flip.
How does it make it fairer?
People can't reserve every model in every variant. I think they should do away with reserves also and just do drops.
Are reserves even necessary at this point? Every models gonna sell out regardless.
Ah I see. I never thought of that. The only way it would help is if all dealers refused to do reservations and only did drops.
