Something set me about to listen to a multitude of versions of this song. So many were good and I enjoyed them thoroughly. Then I came to this one. My entire being stopped. I held my arms close to self, chills went up and down my legs, my eyes closed tightly and moistened. Listening to Mr. Mathis sing is comparable to watching one of the finest athletes that ever existed. Grace, strength, control, mastery, timing, interpretation, connection to soul. His breath control alone is magnificent to attune to. I am overwhelmed here, as my eyes remain moist. Love you Johnny Mathis.

I was such a fan growing up and he was always doing so many sort of romantic fast pop songs. This one really showed his vocal strength and range. Pretty obvious to me he's probably lip-syncing but not a surprise back in those days. Sad that he had to be closeted so long but what a great singer
