Well Astra IR can be a ambitious project cuz we can make a better version of R-27ET and ASRAAM missile by using a better seeker and the fact that most pak aircraft dont have any missile approach warning system it can be a cheaper deterent to those aircraft
If it's okay, please make a report on the recent missile test of Hypersonic Mako missile from Lockheed Martin. It can fit in the internal weapons bay of F35. That's what mind-boggling for me. It seems USA has been mastering some technologies by being quiet instead of doing public PR like CCP and Putin

Sorry, it’s not cruise missile or long range ballistic missile which will annoy western powers to show the long range. To show leas range of air to air missile does not make sense. Initial range was 40 KM of astra 1 so it must be approx 80 KM only as drdo claiming

These announcements are probably veiled. We have seen that Gvt generally announce these news after 2-3 years of completion. Take them with a grain of salt like multiple prithvi and brahmos launch. They are not always as they appear.
