Airforce should have placed an order for Rafael before UAE and other countries gave orders. Now there's no room for Indian airforce to give orders to France. If we do then deliveries will start from 2035 and rafael F-4 will become quiet obsolete by then and China will already have 500 J-20 and 1000 J-31 to counter our 150 rafaels. Pakistan will also have J-35 and Kaan fighter jets. So our bureaucratic airforce seems to be joking. Let them live in their world of dreams while our airforce becomes irrelevant in coming years.
I've started feeling very scared lately, looking at the size of Chinese airforce and navy and that our bureaucrats are doing nothing.

10 years back we cried on mrfa and not acquiring aircrafts and delay by Congress sitting over it. Now we have another 10 years gone and nothing substantial done. Pakistan is bette than us when it comes to acquisition and understanding national security. Delay in Tejas and AMCA will be there and will not fulfill the security threat. We are still sitting on MRFA and doing nothing. Either this is a joke or we don't require. Just a gimmick. We should have rolled out all acquisitions of raffle in first place

No politics intended but congress didn't sit on mmrca, they iniated mmrca 2008, IAF selected rafale in 2012 and in march 2014 govt had accepted the deal for 126 rafales and final agreement was to be signed in December 2014(bjp came by this time) then govt cancelled the deal in 2015 and no mmrca since 10 years. Infact congress didn't sit for 10 years, they got 132 su30 and 45 mig 29k and 40 tejas(order) during 2004 to 2014

First MRCA was completed within 5 years(2008 to 2013) and Dassault Rafale was selected as winner. Then came Mr. Modi in 2014 and he canceled the first tender, and bought only a meager 36 aircrafts

From MMRCA to MRFA it has been more than a decade, none of the governments has taken any significant steps. Except for 36 Rafaels there was no major acquisition in the defence sector for the last 10 years. It is more of talking than action.

ORCA is not possible in the current scenario. Unless the TEDBF is funded. We have not seen it pass the CDR yet. Therefore, it's hard to see it as an alternative for the MRFA.

The only difference in that with ORCA all you might get afte 10 years is a new date where as with Rafale you are guaranteed a fighter. There is a long back log of orders but they (Dassault) have a fighter where are ORCA is still a dream.

This was not a joke from that person. Maybe, the airforce is not in this program at the moment, but it will not be possible to counter the types of threats in the neighborhood with LCA tejas, the old Su30 MKIs and limited numbers of Rafale and AMCA. Eventually a large force of some kind of platform will be needed to supplement the role of the Rafales and to replace the Su30 MKIs. ORCA will come. Probably the airforce is channeling its budget towards AMCA, Tejas Mark 2 and additional Rafales of F4 variants and leaving the TEDBF to be funded by the Navy. Just hope that indigenous engines are developed for these as its still early in the design stage so that they can be manufactured without any hindrance.
TEDBF ke baad ORCA toh ayega hi.. the bombs n missiles that we are developing need a twin engine fighter, AMCA is not needed for combats, it can be developed as technical research n will replace SU30. Fornow we need lots of TejasMK1 n a few squadrons of TEDBF n ORCA with Kaveri engine. TejasMK2 can be used as a filler and export.

To clear up this 114 Fighter jets:
1. Either scrap MRFA and buy 114 Rafale F3R (it'll even support 36 fleet)
2. Or LCA Mk2 delay to be cancelled and clear funds to the prototype
3. ORCA should be a last option if all options runs out, as TEDBF (the sister program) will be heavily funded by the Navy
Overall Air Force needs to have a clear path on what it actually wants to do that satisfy the fleet requirements..

Rafale is not battle proven, it carried out airstrikes in countries with no airforce. F-15, F-18 and F-16 are battle proven, all of them destroyed Iraq's S-300 in 2003. Israel also escaped Syrian S-300 multiple times to bomb Syria. F-18 is taking down drones and missiles in the red sea, with over 10 confirmed shoot downs, even though it's not F-18 jobs to shoot down drones and missiles.
