A lot of great advice here Joe. Thanks for all that you do. I hope everyone is noticing how relaxed he is. That's how it is when you show up with way more time than you need, especially since you never know what might arise.
Great video Joe - excellent advice. You didn't mention what to charge for ceremonies but you DID talk about how important and stressful they are for DJs. Charge money $$$ for taking on this important responsibility.
Joe, being that the LSP500 is discontinued what is the closest item compared to it? I love that you can mount the receivers in it. A shame it’s not available anymore
Solid video. I have been full time for years and HATE ceremonies. You can’t possibly account for every scenario that could cause dropouts, especially when other vendors throw in additional elements
You are the man! Great info, I'm just starting ceremony stuff. On the hand held do you give it to the groom and he hands it to bride? Or is just the officiant only mic up? I was thinking a goose neck mic stand for bride and groom then over ear or lapel to officiant.. again thanks man for the help. Always watch your videos bro.
Great vid Joe. Clear, concise and kept it super relevant…also provided great impact with the illustration of how it was executed at the end. Appreciate the upload.
I supply a full PA for wedding ceremony with Allen and heath dlive desk senheiser digital wireless mics martin audio WT3 speakers crown amps and xta speaker management
I have a similar setup, I get a lot of outdoor or beach gigs and have never had any success with lavaliere or lapel mics because of wind noise, hand helds on stands with fuzzy covers on the uhf band work the best for me
Nice, got the new DJ podium. Very nice. Pro tip, look into putting in a rack mount mixer in the podium. It would replace the small analog mixer and add so much with the addition of EQ, Noise Gates, and many more inputs, so you can expand some to the production side of things. So if they have a band, you can mic up the band, so there is not a duplicated speaker set. I picked up one of the AR18 mixers for my setup. Mixer has one knob, the headphone knob. Everything else is run from a tablet or laptop. If you are used to using a laptop for your DJ music, you can mix your sound on a 2nd laptop stand. These are now very affordable at less than your battery powered speaker system in cost. As a bonus, you connect wireless so it is possible to mix from the back of the room if needed. I use mine and with a stereo AUX in for the DJ mix, and 16 mic inputs, there is never an issue of not enough channels for a small band. Do be aware that there is a learning curve to learn the digital system. It has many features, and thus can be complex and intimidating. Using an ap on a cheap Android tablet, I can even let a band mix their own monitors. It has 6 mix buss outputs for powered wedges for the band if needed. Yes it fits inside the pedestal rack just fine.
Great content. Super advice for newbies and solid reminders for us old timers. One thing I've always had a challenge with , and I've done a lot of ceremonies, is where to place the Lav Mic for best sound. There are a lot of videos for how to record audio with a Lav...but I struggle to find any with tips for our application (mic'ing an officiant/groom). Would LOVE to see a follow up to this, demo'ing that. Maybe have an assistant that you place the mic on and demo how it sounds with different placement (collar vs. lapel vs. tie, etc.). 😊
@@tjsongman I have found the best place is under the chin as high as you can put it without being noticed. Preferably in the middle, becasue most officiants will look down to read their ceremony notes and it is half way to the bride and groom to get their audio incase they are not mic'ed. I also ask the officiant to trun slightly when bride and groom do their vows.
Yo Joe, great video. Love the speaker case. A clean ceremony setup should not be overlooked! Great advice for the hot mic. Do you usually where more kickback then when your doing the reception? I've melted in my suit many times doing the ceremony .
Another great video at the right time. I just purchased Audio Technica ATW-1311 to mic up Bride & Groom. I never see anyone using a laviler mic to mic up officiant. Is it a bad thing to have 3 laviler mics that close together?
Hi Joe, great advice! I have 20 years of experience as a DJ in the Napa Wine Country, I agree to everyhting in your video, and do about 85% of the ceremonies! I also have Sennheiser mics, but I have a couple more detailed questions. What is the best Lapel/Hand Held Sensativity Settings? What is the sweet spot for the mic mixer level output? What is the best Trebble/Bass settings to eliminate feedback? I also have a pro-tip: (If using wireless mics in an area that has a lot of wireless interference, turn the squelch up to High. This will eliminate 80% of potential intereference including planes or other small aircraft flying over during the ceremony. The only drawback to a High Squelch setting is the range, make sure the transmiters and recievers or within 50-75 feet and it will be clear as possible.) Thank you and we hope you and everyone else will have prosperous 2022!
I used to have a sennheiser wireless mic and know about that sound you’re talking about. I started messing with the settings and found a squelch (I think it was called that) and turned that up and the sound went away. I don’t know if all sennheiser receivers are the same but I recommend you look for that setting and see if you can fix that noise.
Joe, that static sound is caused by the squelch I believe. If you set it at high, it will stop doing the static sound when transmitter are turned off. Down fall, the area of coverage decreases when set into high.
Good vid Joe, i find that its only the sennheiser mics that do that when you turn off the transmitter (ie mic, lav pack) never had that issue with shure
Now I'm obsessed with the idea of getting a speaker with receiver/"rack" space. I know the EVERSE 8 has the mount for the top. I wonder if there's anything coming from EV or made by a third party that expands on the idea of the mount into something box/rack-like that can hold as much or more as the back of this speaker, within weight limits.
Hi Joe. I need your opinion on how to set up your evolve 50s. Do you connect them through a line mixer or do you connect them directly to the controller.?
