This is old but just seeing this makes me WANT an iPad! The short video showing how the cover works is so nostalgic. It’s crazy how far the iPad has come. Although I don’t see it in doctors offices and used by teachers so much, I use them at work every day! The restaurant business can seriously find many uses for an iPad. Such a viable market there.
The first iPad was a good proof of concept, but I feel the iPad 2 was where it really matured into what it was supposed to be. Front facing camera for video calls, something that's much nicer to do on a tablet than on a phone, but more convenient so set up on the spot than on a desktop or laptop, much faster than the original, lighter, and with matured software and app developer support. Nowadays I like my Surface Pro but I still keep my 3rd gen iPad mini around for convenient tasks, and the first iPad I bought, a 1st gen mini, I gave to my brother.
Sadly, he knew his days were numbered. He worked on designing and building his yacht, despite knowing he'd probably not live to ever use it, because it was something that kept him going and thinking of the future, rather than just giving up.
@@OldAussieAds worst of all, he wouldn't have needed to worry if he just didn't go for alternative "medicine" which, unsurprisingly, didn't work for him at all.
I have two minds about this era at Apple. On one hand I truly believed in Steve Job's vision of enriching the world and turning Apple around as a result. I got really excited to see for the first time what his team had been working on. These people designed products they wanted to use themselves and it shows. But on the other hand, I just could never get into footage of customers getting caught up in the hype, getting cheered on by Apple Store employees for buying something. I absolutely prefer seeing the real human aspect of products. A doctor using his iPad to look at a broken bone. A child using an iPad to read a book. These were people using beautifully designed tools in life changing ways.
Steve was the prototypical Chief Nerd meticulously showing every feature there is somewhere available from Apple. Nowadays Apple features an artificial world, the Meta Space. Videos and blue screen for everything. I liked the old Apple better. This ain’t an attack on Cook etc. I just prefer the earlier set point, the real world which gets augmented instead of being bound to the virtual world.
This must’ve been towards the end. He died the day after the iPhone 4s presentation in September 2011, right? Perhaps this was his last product presentation?

Even my 2014 original IPad Air is pretty much useless in 2024. It chugs even when browsing websites and watching a regular UA-cam video lol.

Steve would be incredibly proud of the M4 chip
still with A10X
He would. The iPad Pro has been my favorite product since 2017. I can’t think of any other Apple device that does more and that is as fun.
Yes he would have! Not sure what he’d have to say about the current iPhones..
