Good sir. Thank you for this awesome video. It gave me the confidence to go at it myself. My brass stem broke so I purchased an ONA puller in addition to an accessory to extract cartridges with broken stems. Your tips on ensuring the brass stem is not pushed in and to ensure the correct orientation is facing up helped a lot. I initially installed the shower trim with the stem turned upside down, but your video clarified where my mistake was ans was easily corrected. May your life be filled with happiness, health, and prosperity.
This is the best tutorial video ever. You have done us all a great service by explaining each step and part so carefully. May the UA-cam Adsense gods shine down on you!
You, sir, are a credit to your profession, youtube, and the human race in general. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I had done wrong when I replaced mine. In the video published by moen it says to turn the brass part to the off position before reattaching everything, which screwed everything up. Your video left it in the on position, and that was what worked for me. Thanks for the awesome video!
Agree. I don't know why the Meon company video tells you to turn the brass valve from notch at the top to notch at the bottom and then to install the handle. That does not work at all.
❤❤❤ 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you 🙏 I must have watched a dozen videos before yours but not one of them was easy to follow like yours. We are absolute beginners, if we can follow your instructions then anyone can do it. You have a great future ahead of you. Again thank you so much.
Good job 😊I'm 57 year old contractor I haven't read all the comments so good chance it's been said but it's no fun running to hardware store for set screws or retaining clips..cover your drain . ;) the world is a mess we need all the repair men we can get lol keep it up .
Can’t thank you enough for the video. You’re description, clear camera work and number of cameras truly sets you apart from other “how to” vids! Thanks again and keep up the great work
I have never seen a better plumbing video. You are an excellent teacher. You are clear and methodical. I really appreciate seeing what you were doing from different angles. I was afraid of this job ahead of me but now I feel like I can complete it confidently. Thank you.
Great instructions and thank you for the tip on re-installing the cartridge with the tool... since I almost made the same mistake. The old cartridge was a nightmare to remove because of the rubber seals getting caught between the plastic and copper housing! Tip: Use a little WD-40 when removing it. It helps!
Your instructions were written exactly for me. I was going to call a plumber and after watching your video, I decided to give it a try. I bought the cartridge and the tool and with iPad in hand I followed your instructions step by step. All went well and. I saved a couple of Benjamin’s in the process. Thanks very much.
Best instructional video on how to replace this valve, hands down! That pull tool is worth every penny of the $16 I spent on it. In my case, the old cartridge was really stuck in there and half of it broke inside the valve. No way I was going to be able to pull it out using the plastic tool that comes with the replacement cartridge. I don't know how old that valve was, or if they used the lubricant that comes with it but it was stuck in there so badly that I had to use a long thin flathead screwdriver to dislodge the pieces that were stuck inside the valve. Once I did that and checked the valve really good to make sure there weren't any small bits still in there, I was able to replace the new cartridge as he shows starting around 6:50.
Hey thanks for the video! Some of my own insights: Bring a towel! Tuck it right under the enclosure, so any nasty dark water doesn’t drip on your tiles and grout. Watch out for broken gaskets! A small piece of the old cartridge fell off in the enclosure, and it took me a few minutes to figure out why the new one wasn’t going back in all of the way. When you take the assembly apart, line them in order so when you close it back up everything goes together in its proper sequence. I’m thinking the core puller is definitely worth the 15$ investment for aggravation’s sake. Make sure you let all of your faucets run for a little bit after you turn the main back in so you can flush out any sediment. Same goes for your washer machine; run an empty load so your clothes don’t get a rust bath. Thanks again for the video!
The detailed description of the steps and the inclusion of the mistake were very useful. Using the cartridge puller to place the newly lubricated cartridge makes this very easy. Thank you!
Thank you endlessly for this awesome tutorial. Having never done any plumbing tasks, was worried especially after looking at a few 'oh just do this'... and done videos. Then found an actual educational one (meaning yours) that showed and explained EVERYTHING even with mistakes we all make. This was perfection at it's finest. Cannot thank you enough! Oh, the end results on my end are flawless due to your guidance.
Thanks. I have 4 moen showers that I need to replace the cartridge. I have purchased the tool to remove it. It’s almost impossible to remove if you have hard water. This is the best tutorial video. Better than what they have on the moen website.
Thank you for this video. It was very informative, easy to follow, and right to the point. No extra "fluff" like so many other videos. And as an added touch, the triple-view camera positions were very cool. I'll be checking out your other videos.
Your video is absolutely perfect. My husband installed our cartridge incorrectly and will redo it again the right way due to your instructions. My husband pushed in the centr piece and faucet still leaking so we now know why this is happening. There are so many videos on you tube but yours is the best by far. Thank you very much
Derrick, Thank you so much for this informative and excellent video. It was so easy to follow with detailed explanation for each step. I also appreciate your use of additional camera angles.....so helpful! You saved me a lot of money and I completed the repair feeling pretty proud of myself!
Solved this problem, thanks to you! You were spot on that nylon key is not needed. The aftermarket moen puller has held up for me. The nylon key came in handy when I flipped it over to push the cartridge in place. The nylon key I was using had a hole thru the square capped end.
I watched three other videos on replacing the 1222 cartridge, and this is the best one, even better than the MOEN factory video. I liked the "mistake" you made when installing the new cartridge and explaining what you did wrong. I assure you that I would have made the same mistake
This remains an excellent video. I was stalled at reinstallation because I made the same mistake Derrick points out - the brass was pushed in too far and so was not flush in the back so it would not push back far enough to push the retaining clip back in. I was ready to buy a new part and try again. The excellent advice is to use the extractor to put the cartridge back in. Thanks a million. Excellent, patient, clear instructions and commentary. First rate.
Best video on the matter. Thank you. Update: I change two (non-leaking) as a preventive measure as they were 15 years old. The Moen puller did work fine for me. Great advise to use the large nut of the puller and a wrench to pull out the first 4 mm out of the valve. After that a combination of pulling with the Moen puller while pushing with the finger on the valve, adding generously W-40 where the clip goes and moving slowly left and right (but only 3 mm each direction only to avoid that the unattached rubber fold if you turn to much), I manage to extract both in aprox 10 minutes each. Quite nerve braking. Thanks again for the video.
Excellent video. I made the "small mistake" and it caused me to work on trying to get the retainer clip back for 20 minutes. Your explanation of your mistake at 6:22 was a big cost saver for me. I thought I was doomed. Thank you, good Sir!
Thank you sir, great video. I really appreciate you leaving the "mistake" in the tutorial. The back piece was not flush when i initially prepped. Thankfully i remembered your presentation, and caught the error before i assembled. I had a tough time pulling the old cartridge out(Wd40 for the win!!), the rubber pieces just disintegrated, and i had to fish pieces out of the hot and cold valves.
In my new home I had the same issue it took me a good 20 mins to get the cartridge out. Mine broke into a few pieces that I had to fish out par for the course I guess
6/8/2023 THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO IF YOU DO THIS INSTALLATION! The reason is because you are the only one that explained the two (white) pieces and their relationship to get the 1222 to work correctly.
Great video - looking to replace mine as it leaks cold water while in use out the handle. I am curious on last section of your video where the piece was pushed in too far is could be the cause of my issue. Granted it is has been in there for 15 years.
My guess is probably age as well I know I just moved into a new house and I had to replace all the cartridges because they used cheap replacement parts so keep that in mind for future reference
@@Hindsight101 Interesting that you said it's a new house...recently I had problems with my sink faucets not having enough water pressure. We had to change all the aerators as sediments might've built up due to construction or whatever particles got into the pipes. Now the pressure for the sink faucets are strong as ever. I am experiencing a slight water pressure weakness in my bathtub/showerhead and I'm wondering if my builder also used cheap cartridges....which confuses me, because wouldn't they just use the cartridge that comes with the shower kit? Great video nonethless!
Thank you Derrick! Great video production with simultaneous angles and clear instructions. I followed this all the way through and it made the job a lot less stressful. Had it done nice and fast. Much appreciated. An extra note to anyone who might read this comment. Home Depot gave me free Moen cartridges since Moen apparently warranties these parts. Pretty sure you have to ask for them though. Hope it helps.
This little ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
Hands down this is the best UA-cam instructional video, I have ever seen, thank you SIR! (BTW, I guess one cannot please everyone, I see 128 people dislike the presentation, I wonder what their standard of a good instructional video is?)
Great video. I just replaced my cartridge following your procedure. Initially, I hesitated buying the Moen cartridge puller ($15.98 w/o taxes) but I am glad I did. It took pretty good effort to dislodge the old cartridge. Everything is back together. Thanks.
I think this method of teaching others is the BEST. Different angles to see what is happening thru the process. Love it! Went straight to Home Depot, got my materials and off to do this. Only part I struggled with was putting the clip back in. Thanks so much for the easiest method for this!
Excellent guide. Showing the mistake of pushing in the bronze stem saved me from doing the same thing. I used a 7/16" socket, a fender washer and a paint can opener to space my hillbilly rig so that I could use the philips head screw to start pulling the core out, as an alternative to buying the Moen puller. I suggest lubing the housing before installing the new core. Plumber's silicone grease is the best but the lube in the package works too. Wet an appropriate sized fingertip with lube and smear it around inside where the core goes. Photograph your old core and contact Moen Customer Service to receive a free replacement part. Sure, there is a nice new core in your shower faucet now; but, the one it replaced was new once upon a time. I have three of the accursed devices in my home. Moen sent me a FREE replacement for one that failed during a hurricane. Weather related, I don't think so. Just horrible luck. I used that replacement tonight when my personal shower faucet failed just as I was going to bed. OH! AND, you might suggest stuffing rags, or something into the hole around the faucet before attempting to install the locking clip. I lost three of the wonderful things while replacing my daughter's shower faucet core. I stuffed the hole before pinning the core tonight and the clip went in as if it knew there was no escape. Yes, I understand that I'm a little obsessive (and clumsy) (and cheap). Thanks for a very good guide. I liked it more than previous ones I have viewed. I think you might be one of the first to warn about pushing the stem in too far.
Thanks so much for you comment. The mistake was truly a mistake because I had to undo everything I did off camera because the faucet leaked after I was finished. That was a pain but if it helped others then it wasn’t so bad.
It was taking me 5 months to do this!! Only because I hadnt gotten to it haha.. But one trip to the hardware store and watching your video made it so simple.. Simple enough that it made me wanna do it!! The view, the voice over everything was great!! Thank you so much!!
Thank you!!! I spent forever completing this job. My old cartridge was stuck due to the rubber on the sides. After I finally got it removed (i had to go buy the moen cartridge removal tool) I couldn’t slide the new one all the way in! The oil they give you inside the packaging is useless and wound up not being sufficient to slide mine in without ripping the rubber again. Swapped the broken one out and bought some faucet grease. Used the removal tool to insert and voila!! For whatever reason my clip wouldn’t fit but during one of my many trips to Home Depot I had bought a three clip replacement pack and one of those fit perfectly. 🎉
Just changed my friend's cartridge with the help of your video, thank you. For anyone doing this, definitely buy the puller tool, its only about $14 and will save you a lot of hassle. Next time I will try to use a rebuild kit. One of the large flat black washers was torn on the one I replaced.
@@Hindsight101 It was about $15 at HD, the Moen cartridge was about $58, I was skimming the reviews on the rebuild kit and people were saying how it was hard to keep everything aligned while pushing the cartridge back in so I decided to skip it.
I did this yesterday, using the free replacement cartridge after I called Moen. That saved $48 right there. And I had success using the white plastic extractor that came with the cartridge to gently rock the cartridge back-and-forth no more than 1/8 turn either way. That saved me another few bucks by avoiding having to purchase an extractor tool. Another thing that I did that nobody has mentioned, is before turning the water supply off and starting the project, I ran the hot water through the cartridge for five minutes to warm everything up, including the old impacted silicone grease. Another commentor above said that he used a hairdryer for this purpose. In any event, heat is generally helpful when removing stuck fasteners and other devices like these cartridges. Mine had a slow drip after installation of the new cartridge, and so I went in again with the white plastic tool and slightly rotated the cartridge and reassembled. The leak in the full off position then stopped. But that post installation leak was probably caused by me making the mistake of pushing on the brass spindle during installation. One more thing I do emphasize in your excellent presentation is to remove the faceplate so that you don’t have to bend the retaining pin when removing it. And when you remove that face plate stuff a towel into the wall to catch the falling Jesus clip (“oh Jesus”) when you inevitably drop it into the black hole in the wall. Cheers, well done and thank you.
This is a great video. Particularly around 7 minute mark about how to property push the new cartridge in. I made the mistake of pushing on the brass and pushed it in a bit, and hence when I turn the water back on it leaked. Ended up destroying a cartridge getting it back out and still didn’t realize why it was leaking until I saw this video. If you don’t have the puller you have to push in using the remove like yours or the white plastic removal bit the cartridge comes with. This avoids pushing the brass in.
Thank you for creating a very helpful video in changing this faucet cartridge, along with the other video using the different tools to remove the cartridge. Watching your videos made this repair very easy.
I just had to write you to let you know that you saved me a rather expensive plumber service call to replace a $45 part. Thank you, thank you for this video. I had created quite the situation for myself and this video was INSTRUMENTAL in helping me figure out what I was doing wrong and course correct, accordingly. Thank you!!
This was the best video I have seen on the Moen 1222 but I still can't get a new one to not leak. I did the first one and like you I push it in and the brass valve pushed out the back. I tried you Technic to pull it back in but the white plastic button feels loose on the back now and still leaked. So I went and got a new one again. This time making sure I did not push it in using the brass valve. I follow your method which is slightly different than the official Moen install video. Still leaks when off. Funny thing is when I bought the off brand of the 1222 before it work first time I installed it. I notice the off brand has the O ring on the front and back of the cartridge while the Moen only has the O ring on the front. Maybe I should just go back to the off brand? But I do love the way you show 3 different picture views of what you are doing, front, top and side views. That is great!
I don’t like the off brands because they are fine putting in but having to remove them was a pain. Thank you for the comment, like me I assume you watched a lot of videos. The ones I saw were too grainy or the camera was 50 ft away so I thought I could do better. Not sure why it’s leaking without more info Cheers
Best Video Ever. Another thing to add, use a Moen Puller tool if cartridge gets stuck. Mine was stuck and after twisting and pulling for an hour (5" Girl) I was about to give up with my hands red hot and throbbing. On the verge of giving up I took wrench to the puller tool around the Nut/Bolt and kept turning it 360 and it finally came out. Phew, it was like I gave birt
Thank you for this video!! It is so much better than the Moen installation video. It showed me how to correct some installation errors I made following their instructions. Thank you for being so thorough and clearly explaining the steps.
This is an excellent instructional video. Replacing the cartridge was one of our smoothest home maintenance repairs yet thanks to the step-by-step instructions and multiple camera angles. Thank you!
thanks Buddy, great video... I am having a problem with reassembly, having the retainer pin not seating in the groove, blocking the aluminium tube cover. any advice?
The only thing I can really say is this has happened to me before. Something's just misaligned and you have to keep trying. I know that's not the best answer
Thank you, thank you for the great, and detailed video! Your video turned an all day frustrating project into a 30 minute, and very controlled swap-out. A couple of comments (if I may) which would probably fall into the category of “everyone knows that”, I used a wet/dry vacuum to prevent water from running into the bathroom wall during cartridge swap-out, and I used a head lamp (flashlight) which greatly helped during the removal and especially the re-insertion process of the locking pin. Thank you again!
Just changed mine after watching this video: Bought the original Moen cartridge for a piece of mind I wrapped the old cartridge with a disposable glove and sprayed lots of WD-40 and let it soaked for an hour Used the cheapest puller with a plumber wrench, rocked side to side and pulled gently Performed a thorough clean before installing the new cartridge When I installed the new cartridge, I only pushed the plastic area Upside down installing the handle was a brilliant idea
Many thanks for the level of detail in both directions of the removal and replacement thru completion. None of Moen’s video provided guidance of the small plastic removal adapter as your reference to it saved me a delay as that puppy was in there good. Moen’s videos ignore that handy adapter so that you make a second trip to the hardware store. The no language ‘play by the illustration’ guide references it but it is out of context. It’s all good and a hero at the moment...
I have followed all the instructions, and tightened the adapter to the best, but the weight of the metal handle would still push the adapter down. For example, I tried to adjust the water temperature cooler, but the handle would not stay in the position I wanted, but slowly moved toward colder temperature by itself.
@@Hindsight101 I reviewed your video one more time. I had put all the set screws in as shown in the video, and tightened them completely (both in the adapter and the handle). But the adapter still doesn't have enough resistance and would slightly move toward the cold water direction with the weight of the handle when I take my hand off from it.
Great video, I couldn't figure out why the cartridge was leaking after installation. Your advice of inserting with the puller fixed it, it seems it was pushed out! Thank you!
One note I would definitely add is to make sure you close your drain! Trying to retrieve a clip or screw from down there will make a preacher cuss. This is a great video and I did everything last night with mine Thanks to this video! Thank you
Perfect video. Very well shown step by step. Saved me from calling the plumber and not difficult at all. If you call Moen, they will send you the cartridge for free.
Thank you for this video. It was incredibly helpful and easy to follow. The only issue I had was when I turned the water back on I realized the cartridge was set to the “on” position. I had to take off the handle, turn the brass piece 180 degrees, and then put it back together.
Excellent video and with multiple angles, it is one of the best video I have seen. You get FIVE STARS. I will try to do it myself and save a bundle! Thanks so much

Awesome thank you for sharing
This is the best tutorial video ever. You have done us all a great service by explaining each step and part so carefully. May the UA-cam Adsense gods shine down on you!
Thank you. My only hope is that people learn from my mistakes
Thanks so much for your comment. So glad it worked out.
Agree. I don't know why the Meon company video tells you to turn the brass valve from notch at the top to notch at the bottom and then to install the handle. That does not work at all.
Thank you for the video. It was more accurate and precise than the recommended Moen video.
You are welcome and thank you
❤❤❤ 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you 🙏 I must have watched a dozen videos before yours but not one of them was easy to follow like yours. We are absolute beginners, if we can follow your instructions then anyone can do it. You have a great future ahead of you. Again thank you so much.
That's really nice of you to say thank you
This is the best of all the Moen installation videos including the OEM.
Thank you
Good job 😊I'm 57 year old contractor I haven't read all the comments so good chance it's been said but it's no fun running to hardware store for set screws or retaining clips..cover your drain . ;) the world is a mess we need all the repair men we can get lol keep it up .
Thanks for the info. It's been mentioned I just forgot to put it in the video
Can’t thank you enough for the video. You’re description, clear camera work and number of cameras truly sets you apart from other “how to” vids!
Thanks again and keep up the great work
Thank you for the compliment and thanks for watching
This is the most thorough tutorial video i saw about this cartridge. Thank you.
Thank you and you're welcome
Thanks for the video. It's the only one that shows exactly how it is done. You are the man.
I appreciate that!
I have never seen a better plumbing video. You are an excellent teacher. You are clear and methodical. I really appreciate seeing what you were doing from different angles. I was afraid of this job ahead of me but now I feel like I can complete it confidently. Thank you.
Thank you so much and please let me know how it goes
@@Hindsight101 I did it! It was easy after watching your video.
awesome
Great instructions and thank you for the tip on re-installing the cartridge with the tool... since I almost made the same mistake.
The old cartridge was a nightmare to remove because of the rubber seals getting caught between the plastic and copper housing! Tip: Use a little WD-40 when removing it. It helps!
Since this one I’ve had to replace a few more cartridges and they were a beast to remove
Your instructions were written exactly for me. I was going to call a plumber and after watching your video, I decided to give it a try. I bought the cartridge and the tool and with iPad in hand I followed your instructions step by step. All went well and. I saved a couple of Benjamin’s in the process. Thanks very much.
Thank you for the feedback glad I could help
Easy clear and precise. It's exactly the kind of diy video I needed to have enough confidence to get the job done. Thank you so much
You’re welcome thank you for the feedbacks
Donna Vice how did it go? I'm afraid to try the cartridge (valve)!
Thank you
Hey thanks for the video! Some of my own insights:
Bring a towel!
Great suggestions
The detailed description of the steps and the inclusion of the mistake were very useful. Using the cartridge puller to place the newly lubricated cartridge makes this very easy. Thank you!
You're welcome

Thank you endlessly for this awesome tutorial. Having never done any plumbing tasks, was worried especially after looking at a few 'oh just do this'... and done videos.
Then found an actual educational one (meaning yours) that showed and explained EVERYTHING even with mistakes we all make.
This was perfection at it's finest. Cannot thank you enough!
Oh, the end results on my end
are flawless due to your guidance.
Thank you so much it’s always nice to know that the video is helpful and appreciated

Thanks. I have 4 moen showers that I need to replace the cartridge. I have purchased the tool to remove it. It’s almost impossible to remove if you have hard water. This is the best tutorial video. Better than what they have on the moen website.
@@jigneshngadhia thank you so much
Thank you for this video. It was very informative, easy to follow, and right to the point. No extra "fluff" like so many other videos. And as an added touch, the triple-view camera positions were very cool. I'll be checking out your other videos.
Thank you glad you liked the video
Your video is absolutely perfect. My husband installed our cartridge incorrectly and will redo it again the right way due to your instructions. My husband pushed in the centr piece and faucet still leaking so we now know why this is happening. There are so many videos on you tube but yours is the best by far. Thank you very much
Thank you for the comment I am happy you were able to figure out your issue
Derrick, Thank you so much for this informative and excellent video. It was so easy to follow with detailed explanation for each step. I also appreciate your use of additional camera angles.....so helpful! You saved me a lot of money and I completed the repair feeling pretty proud of myself!
Awesome thanks for the comment
Solved this problem, thanks to you! You were spot on that nylon key is not needed. The aftermarket moen puller has held up for me. The nylon key came in handy when I flipped it over to push the cartridge in place. The nylon key I was using had a hole thru the square capped end.
glad you could use the nylon piece for something
Definitely the best video on UA-cam for replacing the cartridge. The explanations were clear and the multiple angles helped so much.
You're welcome and thank you
SO glad you included the mistake, because I did the same thing and was wondering why it was leaking everywhere!
I’m happy the video helped thanks for watching
This was the best instruction video. Clearly explained. 3 angles on video. and also cover if mistake was made. Excellent job!
Wow, thanks!
Worked for me replacing the cartridge in my 2nd bath just now, thanks!
No problem glad the video helped
One of the best Video in replacing a Moen 1222 Faucet cartridge for the home owner ! THANK YOU !
Thank you for watching and the comments
the retainer is easy to drop when trying to replace it. I tied a thread to it. I dropped it twice but the string saved me.
Great idea
I watched three other videos on replacing the 1222 cartridge, and this is the best one, even better than the MOEN factory video. I liked the "mistake" you made when installing the new cartridge and explaining what you did wrong. I assure you that I would have made the same mistake
Thank you for this informative, detailed video! Great job! I also love the different camera angles used to demonstrate.
Thank you I appreciate the comment
This remains an excellent video. I was stalled at reinstallation because I made the same mistake Derrick points out - the brass was pushed in too far and so was not flush in the back so it would not push back far enough to push the retaining clip back in. I was ready to buy a new part and try again. The excellent advice is to use the extractor to put the cartridge back in.
Thanks a million. Excellent, patient, clear instructions and commentary. First rate.
welcome
Thanks for the video. Just swapped my out for $63.00 including the puller.
Happy it worked out
Best video on the matter.
Glad it was helpful!
My Man!!!! right on spot.Great idea pointing out a mistake I would have made for sure. Thank you.....
You are welcome thanks for watching
Excellent video. I made the "small mistake" and it caused me to work on trying to get the retainer clip back for 20 minutes. Your explanation of your mistake at 6:22 was a big cost saver for me. I thought I was doomed. Thank you, good Sir!
Thank you for the comment and I'm glad I could help
Thank you
Very well done. Love the multi-angles. Thanks!
Glad you like it. Thanks
What a fantastic video. Probably the best filmed DIY video I have ever seen. Using 3 different angles that are all synced up was brilliant. Great job.
thank you so much
Great video - looking to replace mine as it leaks cold water while in use out the handle.
@@RubzNotNice My apologizes I meant new house to me. The previous owns replaced the original cartridge with cheap ones.
I've heard about this but never tried it. The next one that I'll need I'll have to try and see what happens
This little ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
Awesome
Hands down this is the best UA-cam instructional video, I have ever seen, thank you SIR! (BTW, I guess one cannot please everyone, I see 128 people dislike the presentation, I wonder what their standard of a good instructional video is?)
Thank so much for the comment. Also I wonder that all the time. I wish youtube had a feedback button next to the dislike button.
What great instructions!
Thank you
Hands down the best video out there on how to install a Mowen 1222 cartridge!!! You addressed every aspect in order to install properly!!!! A++
wow thanks
Great video. I just replaced my cartridge following your procedure. Initially, I hesitated buying the Moen cartridge puller ($15.98 w/o taxes) but I am glad I did. It took pretty good effort to dislodge the old cartridge. Everything is back together. Thanks.
Awesome glad to hear
Your video saved me!!! Replaced the cartridge, and it was a cinch to do with your guidance. Thank you a million times over!!
Excellent!
I think this method of teaching others is the BEST. Different angles to see what is happening thru the process. Love it! Went straight to Home Depot, got my materials and off to do this. Only part I struggled with was putting the clip back in. Thanks so much for the easiest method for this!
Thank you for the comment
Thank you so much!!
you're welcome
Awesome
Just changed my friend's cartridge with the help of your video, thank you. For anyone doing this, definitely buy the puller tool, its only about $14 and will save you a lot of hassle. Next time I will try to use a rebuild kit. One of the large flat black washers was torn on the one I replaced.
I'll have to look into getting a rebuild kit. Never thought about that
@@Hindsight101 It was about $15 at HD, the Moen cartridge was about $58, I was skimming the reviews on the rebuild kit and people were saying how it was hard to keep everything aligned while pushing the cartridge back in so I decided to skip it.
thanks for the update
Best video on youtube on how to replace the cartridge! Great tips. Recommend bringing a towel - after I removed mine, a LOT of water flooded out.
Glad it helped!
Thank you
This is a great video.
I'm glad everything eventually worked out
my husband followed your video, he was very impressed that you made it so clear and easy to follow. Well done.
Glad I could help thank you for the feedback
Thank you for creating a very helpful video in changing this faucet cartridge, along with the other video using the different tools to remove the cartridge. Watching your videos made this repair very easy.
Welcome
I just had to write you to let you know that you saved me a rather expensive plumber service call to replace a $45 part. Thank you, thank you for this video. I had created quite the situation for myself and this video was INSTRUMENTAL in helping me figure out what I was doing wrong and course correct, accordingly. Thank you!!
You’re welcome thanks for watching
Almost 6 years later you just helped someone else! Look forward to seeing what else is on the channel!
Happy to help
Thank you for this. After 16 years of hard water, mine was a bit more difficult to remove. Your instructions were spot on!
Yeah I just moved and had to replace mine and it took an hour to get mine out. Thanks for watching
Yes this on came out fairly easy, others I have done we not so quick.
Thank you for this video!! It is so much better than the Moen installation video. It showed me how to correct some installation errors I made following their instructions. Thank you for being so thorough and clearly explaining the steps.
Happy to help
This is an excellent instructional video. Replacing the cartridge was one of our smoothest home maintenance repairs yet thanks to the step-by-step instructions and multiple camera angles. Thank you!
Thank so much
thanks Buddy, great video...
You're welcome and thanks for the tips
Just changed mine after watching this video:
Bought the original Moen cartridge for a piece of mind
I wrapped the old cartridge with a disposable glove and sprayed lots of WD-40 and let it soaked for an hour
Used the cheapest puller with a plumber wrench, rocked side to side and pulled gently
Performed a thorough clean before installing the new cartridge
When I installed the new cartridge, I only pushed the plastic area
Upside down installing the handle was a brilliant idea
I'm happy that it worked out👍
I watched many videos explaining how to do this and yours is simply the best. Thank you SO much!
Thank you I appreciate the comment
Dude, you rule! Your comment on putting in the cartridge in such a way that it leaks helped me so much. Thank you thank thank you.
No problem!
Thank you. It really helped. Faucet was fixed in about 45 minutes with two trips to the store for the removing tool and then the cartridge.
Awesome glad to hear
That is the best tutorial. Great job. I have subscribed.
Thank you I appreciate it
Many thanks for the level of detail in both directions of the removal and replacement thru completion.
Thank you
I have followed all the instructions, and tightened the adapter to the best, but the weight of the metal handle would still push the adapter down. For example, I tried to adjust the water temperature cooler, but the handle would not stay in the position I wanted, but slowly moved toward colder temperature by itself.
Did you put the small set screw back in?
@@Hindsight101 Thank you for your reply. What are small set screws? I believe I have put everything back. Maybe I missed something?😁
Sorry not sure why
@@Hindsight101 That's alright. I do appreciate you taking time to reply to my question. 👍
Thanks for this, it ended up being super straight forward but it’s good to see someone else do it first before committing to the repair.
Glad to help!
Great video, I couldn't figure out why the cartridge was leaking after installation. Your advice of inserting with the puller fixed it, it seems it was pushed out! Thank you!
Excellent!
Had this issue lately but handle hadn’t broke. 30 min ago it broke. This is a great video. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Amazing! Please keep it up! Great angles, commentary, etc!
Thanks, will do!
One note I would definitely add is to make sure you close your drain! Trying to retrieve a clip or screw from down there will make a preacher cuss. This is a great video and I did everything last night with mine Thanks to this video! Thank you
Thanks for the tip
Excellent instructional video. Simple and informative. Now I know what to do in less than 10 minutes. Thanks!
Lol that might take some practice to get to 10 mins
Perfect video. Very well shown step by step. Saved me from calling the plumber and not difficult at all. If you call Moen, they will send you the cartridge for free.
Everyone says that but they gave me a hard time without the receipt
Thank you for this video. It was incredibly helpful and easy to follow. The only issue I had was when I turned the water back on I realized the cartridge was set to the “on” position. I had to take off the handle, turn the brass piece 180 degrees, and then put it back together.
Thanks, yeah you have to be careful with positioning
Excellent video and with multiple angles, it is one of the best video I have seen. You get FIVE STARS. I will try to do it myself and save a bundle! Thanks so much
Thank you
