The cleverest feature on that machine is the ability to move the machine forward or back while digging your trench without the need to swing your seat. But yes, I wouldn’t want to be the guy who has to fix the wiring when the inevitable happens and the rear boom extends when you really want to open or close the front clamshell!!
Another nice update Michael, used to use a McConnell rear digger on a nuffield tractor with two levers, but when used a jcb everything was the opposite way on the levers, i have seen farms were they use a jcb as there main loader
Back in the 80´s I had JCB 3C/3CX´s and a Komatsu PC 30 mini digger, I never gave much notice to the different control patterns, I could just jump from one to the other!
I've always said that although Joe Bamford didn't invent anything, but when hydraulic rams appeared, he was the first to acknowledge the potential and he wasn't slow to run with the idea.
Had a 2001 jcb with quick hitch front bucket fantastic for unloading lorry’s rubbish if you wanted to pick anything up off the floor with it. Also I would never have one on servos Brought up to operate a machine by my dad, spent many years on 3cx, I never had a problem jumping from site master/ contractor to a 360, would have a 3cx tomorrow if there was the work out there for one.
Michael looks like you are enjoying the time with the JCB, go on get one as we all love your videos. Is it going to be an early Christmas present or do you wait till Easter.
The old type JCB was used by our contractor to dig holes widen gateways sandstone gatepost dig drains I had the shovel and dig track out for stone allways a good job
Is that a standard thing having the quick hitch 4-1 now or an option, last 3cx I had a cutting edge rather than teeth on the bucket. Not a huge leap forwards from a 16plate machine apart from that duel drive, Forks and led lights.
Fabulous video Michael. It just goes to show that Mr Bamford got the basic principle right in 1963, ok so over the years the model has been improved as technology advanced it's like comparing a Spitfire to an F35 Lightning but the same basic shape & principle of the machine remains the same unlike the aircraft. 🤔👌.
All ways look forward to your video Michael I've commented before Brian Quinn plant croft yard plant murston plant Kent plant I st driving a JCB 3cmkk 2 I remember rex beard watching because before I had driven a Massey 50/ 50 B with all leaves thanks Michael
Hi Michael. Love the videos. I started driving a 1974 3c mk2 narrow front axle that I still have iron Hitachi 130 long and ex40. My question is how do you operate front and rear buckets for to carrier it I bad ground?
Do you know what I would have the sticks. A few compromises with the servos I think. I guess you can operate the backhoe when in reverse drive mode? Say you were putting out concrete for a line of kerbs behind a string line, Can you go forwards whilst in the backwards configuration and have to arm out beside the machine shaking out a line on concrete??
Some of the dual drives I have seen on UA-cam have a camera on the bonnet and the screen at the rear so you can see when driving backwards when facing rear, and use on pallet forks when bellow the bonnet another extra I suppose. I can’t believe when a man ask you to break the bead on a tyre when sitting in a backhoe loader and you didn’t show of your back hoe skills and use the backacker to break the bead.
I remember when 4wd came out on JCB’s every site almost without exception only wanted 4wd on their sites and 2wd was finished. People did fit 4wd tyres to 2 Ed machines for a while to try and bluff it but it was a great time to buy 2wd machines for gamers 😂😂😂😂
My boss once asked me whilst in a queer mood why I had my tractor set to 1500rpm on the hand throttle. Simple. I'm loading downhill, using a grab needing my brakes and loading 2 trailers whilst my brother is hauling
Your camera operator needs a hard hat for site working Micheal lol All in the wrist oh n experience lol Driving the JCB in reverse, does the tail (front bucket) swing out, similar to a rear steer forklift ?? Would take a lot of getting use to and additional spacial awareness initially Thanks Micheal Very indepth vlog Isn't it the same with most modern machines, my first motor bike had a tool pouch and most repairs could be handled, now you need computers and specialist tools My late father said mechanics are becoming a thing of the passed, replaced by fitter's, they can't repair, they replace the components USB that high is useless leaning towards dangerous with the length of cable required, or is it purely their to upload usb stick music recordings Keep up the great videos Take care all Geoff
Great video thanks Michael
Would be lovely to see her restored 😀👍
Ex JCB fitter and I served my time on 3cx’s & miss working on them..
The original JCB built Britain. 👍👍
Michael is saying, look at me I can still grade like a professional and don’t need any fancy expensive electronic leveling devices. 👍🏴🇺🇸

I can operate a tracked digger fairly well but could never master a 3cx with the cross controls my head wouldn’t allow it😅

Dont like the rear bucket ram hydraulic pipes on the outside of the dipper... just waiting to get snagged on roots..rebar

The old type JCB was used by our contractor to dig holes widen gateways sandstone gatepost dig drains I had the shovel and dig track out for stone allways a good job
Are you going to let Michelle have a go in the JCB?
I didn’t get a go.
Is that a standard thing having the quick hitch 4-1 now or an option, last 3cx I had a cutting edge rather than teeth on the bucket. Not a huge leap forwards from a 16plate machine apart from that duel drive, Forks and led lights.
Smooth grading movement boss
Thank you.
@GCSMachinery can tell you spent many hours on a machine plus on camera as well not easy making it look effortless thank you for sharing

Should be, he advertising it well enough!!!!

You can go forward when in reverse mode, which is necessary for trenching anyway.
I have two 3 ccx s. Older is 1987. 3Cx turbo and the other is 1995 3Cx. Looking for an engine for older lady or a sub engine. ? Help
Jcb a wonderful company in early years a bit baffled why Sir Jeremiah Cyril Bamford took such a negative stance on Brexit
He’s just a big kid like the rest of us 🚜🧰🔧👍
Mike jcb hydraulic block components made in china assembled in Runcorn supplied to Stafford

The point was we have a bead breaker. Yea I’m very capable of breaking the bead with the back actor but there was no need
@ Yep it would have been like a sledgehammer on a walnut 😜😂😂.

I would still go for a hydreama
