Today I get to work on a space for myself which is rather exciting! This little room off the living room is what I'm going to use as my home office. To me an office needs to feel comfortable, inspiring and motivating! In part 1 we cover the paint along with the direction and furniture for the space.

You can really appreciate how beautiful your living room turned out while you were painting the shelves on the wall of your office. The contrast just jumped right out like a spilt image! I really hope one day your home or at least a few of your rooms in your home are showcased in Architectural Digest!

You probably have add the height to you table but the vintage tables that Nordstrom used to use in their Men’s wear department looked similar and had casters on the them. You can purchased vintage casters still. I like the dining room chair but the other chair is to small. Can’t wait to see the ceilings. BTW green is my favorite color.
I thought the same, big beefy industrial casters though. Even Home Depot has them if you Google industrial casters. EBay too.
@@bettenotap4791 yes but I would do vintage because one they’ll be made better than what’s manufactured today. And two something from Home Depot will look to modern.

Definitely stained glass fox heads tutorial (or whatever you come up with). I agree, I think that bookshelf would be beautiful in that room. The office is going to be amazing when it's done. Cannot wait to see it.

Before the chair and lamp were put in, it looked like a Vermeer painting! Love it. Not mad on that barrel chair. It’s a tad solid for the rest. However, I am loving what is materialising. 💖

I think it is too modern and trendy for the desk.
Two would balance desk better than just one as for color of wood tone they can always be changed as You know so well 💞

DIY Painter Tip: Invest in a paint pole! Worth every penny! When I watch you paint it makes me want to come paint for you!! Love the green!
BTW Drew, you should have liners installed in ur working fireplace chimneys, if not already done. Protects from debris getting hung up in cracks or stone work w/in the chimney and slows a chimney fire from entering ur attic spaces (slows, not prevents) - worth it! If you use ur fireplaces a lot, have them swept every Fall(every year) and not the every 2 yr recommendation. We learned all the hard way. If a chimney fire is minor - smoke does horrible damage and if water is needed - firemen are not careful or care about material items, walls or floors….they make a horrific mess and it’s not always necessary.
That's right. You absolutely don't want a stack fire!
I had the fireplaces fully relined upon moving into the home!

Yes I'm so excited about a fox-themed window. I have to tell you that I love that small chair that you put in front of the desk, but I think it looks kind of weird there because it's smaller than the desk. However, let us remember that you're the designer, not me LOL.
I agree, it looks weird, but he always knows best. He'll bring in another weird thing to tie it all together.
I think it is the wood tone of the small chair that is off. If it was painted a dark color it would work. I think he needs a bulkier chair there.
I always think that too, while he's in the process. That something is a little off. But by the time he's done it's perfect.😂. I've heard you have to trust the process. I guess it's true.
I agree, it's off putting! I think it'd be cute in a bathroom with lots of plants, just somewhere that has a nature like feel to it.

When I first saw the olive green swatch I thought it was a bit dark, but once it was on the wall it seems lighter and I love the color now. It will be lovely when it's all done and I'm sure a blessing to you having your own office space. Enjoy.

I find it interesting how my personal style is completely sterile, cold, modern, colorless, BLAND and essentially SOULESS minimalism yet I'm here, every GD update, fucking STUNNED..drooling...slack-jawed..by how amazing he does these spaces.

I have been eyeing that book shelf since the first peek. I absolutely love love love it!! Maybe you could use it as a "China hutch" in your dining room. It does go with the table.

Oh this is so much fun having you take us along on the decision making process! Love your olive green paint color. I once took an olive leaf to Sherwin-Williams, they matched the color paints to the darker color on one side of the leaf and the lighter color on the underside of the leaf. The walls and trim turned out beautifully for my Italian themed living room. Can’t wait to see what you are going to do with the ceiling!

Yup, there is a creative pairing there for sure...similar taste buds but yet so uniquely different in their own Ways...Two of My Most Favorite Creators...could be brother & sister Both with that Gingery Hair and Sweet Smart Sensibilities ❤💞
I have to tell you Drew, you were giving me 1950's Olive Green flashbacks to nauseam! Am so relieved and love this more gray-green olive green color on the walls! Could not see anything in the sneak-peek copper ceiling, so will have to live with the suspense! Looking forward to seeing the Office completed! Have fun!

Back wall artwork diy: Heavy base supporting a metal half arch plant-stand / lamp. Long metal pole standing upright from the end of the wall, arching up and over 2/3 of the wall. Small "branches" twisted to hold small foux terra cotta pots of moss and a vining cord to some hanging "fruit" lights toward the end.
Not a kitchen ISLAND, but kitchen table. That is what this piece of furniture is properly called. Island a very modern invention. The table is very, very nice. Everything you are doing is beautiful.

Love that green colour! I've gone with a dark moody olive green for the walls in my little kitchen and it's such a rich but calming natural colour (have just painted my tired old cabinets terracotta pink though, so a slightly different vibe to your office!).
Can't wait to see the finished ceiling, and 'yes' to the stained glass! 🦊These additional architectural details really make a home IMHO and you do them so well.

I want to do a faux stained glass portrait of Quentin Crisp that looks like a church window. He's one of my inspirations and was a sweet man.
I just love the painting of the window frames. I bought a home with what I consider too much white door/windows etc in my entrance/dining room and you have given me the answer. Oh and the olive green, love it!!

Begging to the lonefox overlords for a diy stained glass tutorial!
I had trouble sleeping in my light canvas tan (SW) bedroom (came with the house) so I painted all the walls including the baseboards Valspar Tarragon dark olive green. I love the color so much and sleep better in a dark room. This is not the room for light, bright sunlight. I left the doors and ceiling white, the furniture is old pine, and the soft goods are a caramel color. The combination is so beautiful. I like your choices a lot for this room. I LOVE that bookcase, as well as the table/desk. Gorgeous.

I love the light in this room and balcony access. I have my desk facing a window and am never going back. Try turning yours to face the window, looking up to see the outdoors will be a game changer. It's amazing how much is going on out there! Birds, blossoms, sideways rain, always something. And I am so glad that I am no longer missing it!
