It is a nice looking, great features toy. And brand affinity shouldn’t be a thing anymore. Good for you for acknowledging that. We shoot what we like and help us create the right image😉👍
Every reviewer has the same complaint that it doesn't feel substantial, and the knobs feel cheap. It's a magnesium alloy chassis, and those knobs are machined aluminum. Do people just want Nikon to make it heavier for no real reason? The full frame Zs are entirely clad in plastic, but nobody complains about that.
That is because most reviewers are but common people that do not know of what they speak. They just watch other UA-camrs and afterwards repeat the same lies over and over again, that they just heard. It is sad but welcome to UA-cam.
I purchased it recently and absolutely love the feel in hand. It has enough heft without being heavy and in no way it feels plastic as some reviwers are mentioning. I preferred this more than Z5.
It is just an imbalance in the level of finishing. The top plate and dials are metal and perfect, but the bottom plate is plastic and painted to look like metal. It was a corner that should not have been cut.
I’m honestly thinking of downgrading my system from the Z6 to this so I can focus more on classic street photography. I just look at the ZFC body and it gets me in the mood to shoot street.
Oohh yeaah! But I am not sure if you should sell the FF. The ZfC is great bit maybe sometimes you need that extra ummph for some situation. Think twice to be sure👍
@@CrisConstantin I haven’t shot professionally since before COVID really and when I did it was so few and far between that I sort of started dreading paid shoots. The ZFC brings me back to when my grandfather bought me my first Pentax and would take me shooting and developing. I miss the fun of photography. I wanna go check out this camera to see if it brings me back to that.
@@pinatadonkey5934 rent one for a week and see if it brings back the joy, if so it’s the winner. I love vintage so for me was a no brainer. I am hoping Nikon will bring a ff in the same body (even a little bigger). I love the analog feel and look (hence my Fuji addiction lol)😁👍
Very helpful review thanks. I'm an old school film photographer and now realising that I am no longer shooting weddings and portraits I don't really need a Hasselblad or any of my 35mm film cameras anymore. I'm seriously thinking about selling them and buying one of these. The feel of a film camera but the convenience of digital. I was going to get a Fuji-film T-3 but more and more I'm leaning this way.
There is some gain with the T3, more like video wise and also resolution. But if you like old Nikon lenses and enjoy a great looking body that throws you back a few generation than you might be pleased with the ZFC. It’s a great little light toy to get you through the day with no issues no matter what you are shooting. (Maybe less landscape and product/ portrait photography were resolution comes in play)
@@CrisConstantin yes and that would kind of be the point for me now. I'd like a camera that's just fun to use and I have it on me. I'm not taking pro shots anymore and if I needed that I can always hire. But I still want access to decent lenses so that I can still have the creative control I want. I think this works well. Plus it's very pretty.
They have nailed the aesthetic and feel of the dials on this camera. I prefer this aspect of the camera to the best of Fujifilm. But the rest of the camera doesn’t feel substantial enough. If they release a full frame version with better build quality, I will definitely consider buying one. PS Cumbersome for some. 🤣
Good video Cris, I don't believe that anyone makes a bad camera today as far as image quality is concerned, so it comes down to form factor, features and of course…., personal preference. From what you are showing I prefer the X-T4 (I know it’s more money), I have the silver one and it looks very similar to this one, but I prefer Fuji for the better grip, much longer battery life and two memory cards, I believe that this one only has one slot, I’m not basing it on you-tube reviews or opinions, I had issues twice with memory cards, the first time was a corrupted card on the X-T2, the second time was with the X-T4, this time it was not the card, one of the card slots was not “communicating” with the card, I sent it to Fuji and it was repaired, it’s not a big deal because I’m not a pro, but if I lost my vacation photos I would be very upset. Be well, stay safe and have a prosperous 2022.
The lens on the camera is the 35mm S. The one in b-rolls is the Viltrox 85mm Z. At the weddings I usually have the 85mm on because of the reach and the better subject separation due to APS-C limitations. I also use my 35s on the ZFc when I need only one lens to run around. Thank you for watching. 👍
Thank you. The truth is the camera is weather resistant not sealed. I never had an issue with it but the level of sealing is not comparable with the pro line, obviously. If you use a weather sealed lens, you should be fine in light rain or fog, as well as dust.👍
@@CrisConstantin I don’t suppose they are, Chris. As for visiting London, I am sure you would love it and I would like to but you a coffee and a pastry to say thanks for all the videos!
You’re to kind, man. I’ll definitely visit, maybe this year…if the traveling becomes easier and safer…we’ll see. I would never say no to a good chat and nice coffee, so standby 👍😁
There is not much to recommend and depending on your level you can basically choose from the line-up of z lenses, just a few. But for an all around lens 24-120 f4 is probably the best lens for your needs. It’s sharp, covers a huge range and it’s very well suitable for landscapes and cityscapes. 👍
I don’t remember what I was using, but for ZFC I mostly used the kit lens and the 50mm f1.8 F mount along with the FTZ adapter. You can also adapt any cool vintage F mount lenses, or any mount for that matter.👍
I am not sure if you can, but I did and worked flawlessly. The AF is good enough and it’s like carrying a Leica vintage. People are tend to smile more with a beautiful camera in front of their faces😉
You should give it a try first. What’s good foe me might not work for you. My style is a bit different than others. Maybe find one for rent and test it out at an event. It’s better safe than sorry👍
Caution! I recently downloaded firmware for the Zfc from Nikon. When I hit the upload, the camera shut itself down and would not restart. Nikon support told me it would have to be sent to a service center. I mailed it, at my expense. After a week, I got an estimate for repair. Almost $ 300.00. This camera was just over one year old, purchased directly from Nikon and had less than 1,000 actuations. The camera worked perfectly until I tried to upload the firmware. Note - I own over two dozen Nikon cameras including four Z series and I am very familiar with the update procedure. Has anyone else had this problem?
It’s a matter of preference, ofc. For me looks like it was a built in grip and solves the tripod / battery door problem. So I appreciate it for what it offers👍
Well, you should focus more about the examples you've shot with the camera, I was pretty disappointed to see the whole video without any examples (you did for once I guess) moreover the opinion you gave, also very subjective and niche. Please try to focus on showing the photo because at the end of the day it is the photos we care about
Thank you for suggestion. Agree somehow, but I am not trying to show off my work but more to get the info to those interested about the camera. There are other videos about it in my playlist that have tons of examples. Please watch those if my style of shooting is more important. Thank you for watching👍
