  • Two sessions in May (fished 15.05.21 and 20.05.21) at Crossways, Greenhythe (Kent, UK). Both were near the Ferry Jetty, with the first session fished the day after a match. The second session had more favourable weather and produced a few more fish. Both resulted in the capture of flounders and soles. Venue details, rigs and techniques are dealt with.

    At risk of an accusation of being boring, another excellent, informative and interesting video. That said, I'm quite happy at being called boring when what I say just happens to be true and a fitting description. Thanks for sharing and as others have said, please keep up the good work. Luckily for us, there must be hundreds of other locations waiting for your fishing and filming expertise. Cheers. Ken

    Well done Rod, I'm really enjoying these vids, you're inspiring me to go to places that I thought I would never visit again, like the inner Thames estuary, which is where I cut my teeth sea fishing for flounders over thirty years ago, all I need now is the time as I'm back at work!! Also I must say that in the comments section in this video I agree with every word that Michael Hayes writes, I'm definitely a supporter of this channel & your approach to fishing/film making, all the best, tight lines!

    Fished the exact spot many of times.. and slightly past the blue bridge to your left.. had plenty of school bass. Can be very snaggy there though.. on a small tide you can fish the bit of beach to your right.

    Great vid as usual. I remember thia venue when none of them structures were there at all. My gran used to live in Cotton Lane and when i used to visit weather permitting used walk across the marshes and sit on that beach to your right. I did fish there once back in the 80s and caught a solitary flounder. Incidentally where did you park your car when you fished here. Looking on google maps and it all looks just industry and i wouldn't want to park up and get a clamp. Thanks again for a very informative video and bringing back some great old memories to me.

    Myself, i'm a non-angler, but i do enjoy watching the videos on this channel. I have a question. I realise that this is the Thames estuary, so sea-fish would be in abundance. At what point on the actual River Thames does salt water get replaced by fresh water ? I guess what im really asking is how far inland would you be able to catch sea-fish like Bass & Flounder ?

    • @michaelhayes1068
      @michaelhayes1068 3 роки тому +1

      I would say as far as rainham would be normal for both bass and flounder..and even further up river for the flounder...right up to London and further. I have had them at Staines..

    • @naughtydorf18
      @naughtydorf18 3 роки тому +2

      I seen the London City angler guy catch whiting and flatties at Thamesmead. As an American tourist who can't stand being near water without a rod, I've caught a couple flatties and eels on an Argos carp rod right beside Tower Bridge. I became my own tourist attraction and forgot about all about being a sight seer.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 роки тому

      Thanks Ryan. Bass need the water more salty than flounders, which can be caught as far upriver as Teddington Lock - you wouldn't target them there, but it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to catch one (although rare). I fished a team match (coarse) on the Gloucester Canal on Sunday and there was a flounder caught in my section.

    Just one question I need to ask,
    How far up the Thames can you go before you need to have a Fishing Rod licence ?????
    Great Video's a usual, please keep them coming.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 роки тому

      From the Thames Barrier downstream no rod licence is needed. From Runnymede downstream its free fishing, but you'll need a rod licence for coarse and game fishing. Thanks for watching John.

    Great video Rod. As always. I always feel entertained and educated. Thanks. Do you find casting with braid restricting. I lost distance when i changed to braid. TIA.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 роки тому

      Thanks Mark. No - since braid is much finer in diameter I find I can cast much further, than with mono. There are differences in braid type though.
