Enjoy my collection of propeller driven aircraft models. You will find iconic warbirds from WW2 to Vietnam and can follow the build, paint and weathering process. ua-cam.com/play/PLnh-SozPErfmAyI7EboeaLh6Kd3DqB8iM.html
Thank you for your comment. I also prefer the 1/48 scale but from time to time I like the challenge of a 1/72 kit. Especially when it has such beautiful details. Regards ScalerDan
Thanks for your comment. Here in Europe the kit is also hard to come by at the moment but the PE sets are available now. Referring to Scalemates, Flyhawk will release an SBD-2 next. Hope you get yours soon. Regards ScalerDan
Thanks! Flyhawk is known for ship accessories. They seem to be expanding their offering with complete kits. The Dauntless is definitely recommended but unfortunately difficult to obtain. Regards ScalerDan
Excellent video! You are a very talented modeler! Some specific comments: - The production values of the video are excellent. Good lighting, always in focus, good camera angles so we can really SEE what you are doing! - Please make an effort to always show the brand/color of the paint products you are using. You did a few times, but not consistently. I was left wondering in the early stages if that was a primer or just a base color coat? - I second the endorsement of the pilots from PJ Productions. They are excellent. - FWIW, the carrier squadrons at Midway traded their well-worn SBD-2 aircraft for factory-fresh aircraft about a month before the battle. The planes were not in service long enough for the paint to be that worn and faded….. Please understand I make these comments not to complain, but feedback to help you make your terrific videos even better!
Thank you for the very positive comment. It's very motivating when someone takes time and writes a little more and I can handle criticism well. In newer videos I pay more attention to the color information and try to provide as much additional information as possible. If I have several coats of paint, I often don't use a primer, but rather the first coat of paint is the primer. Works very well with AK Real Colors but always depends on the respective color. The note about the condition of the Midway Dauntless is very helpful. As a model maker I really like the weathering process but it is not always historically accurate. Were the Midway Wildcats involved also rather new? Thank you again for the great feedback and maybe you like my current Hellcat Carrier Deck video. Regards ScalerDan
Many Thanks! The figures are from PJ Productions. Unfortunately, they went out of business last year. I really liked their product range. I'm now increasingly switching to 3D printing for figures. Regards ScalerDan
Лучшая модель на данный момент!!Только вместо статичного пропелера надо было прозрачный диск поставить для полной илюзии вращения...такие диски для разных масштабов продаются.
Thanks for your comment. The transparent propeller disk is a good idea but I have my doubts about how realistic it looks in close-ups. Definitely worth a try...Regards ScalerDan
Am pretty sure the navy SBD-3s at Midway still only had one gun for the rear gunner. The Marine flyers on Midway Island were stuck with SBD-2s (those didn't have self-sealing gas tanks)
Thank you very much for the comment. I read (SBD Dauntless in detail & scale/B. Kinzey) that the twin gun mounts and larger ammo boxes were upgraded in mid-1942. Some if not all of the Midway SBD-3s should have had them already... but I wasn't there. Regards ScalerDan
Thank you! I used AK Real Colors (RC256) M-485 Blue Gray and (RC255) M-485 Light Gray. For the interior I used (RC262) Interior Yellow Green, but next time I would use (RC028) Interior Green, which matches the original better.
Great video, the plane turned out amazing!! Do you have any videos on how you make your display stands? What a perfect way to display the planes. Thank you for the awesome videos!!
Thank you for your very nice words. I haven't made a specific tutorial about display stands yet. So far there has been a lot of trial and error. I like acrylic rods in connection with 3d printing but the prints often need to be reworked. Acrylic bookends are also a good and cheap solution. Regards ScalerDan
Thank you for your comment. I can only recommend the kit. It is very detailed, fits perfectly and offers good building options. Unfortunately, the availability is not given everywhere. Regards ScalerDan

Fantastic build and display!

It looks great. I am trying to get two of them mod one into A-24 . They do not have them in the Pittsburgh yet.

@@ScalerDan I'll admit I could be wrong. I'm going by memory from reading material that may be obsolete now.
I just got this kit. I hope mine comes out as great as yours. Beautiful model! What paint did you use for the blue-gray?

Hello. Figures was from kit?
The kit comes without any figures. I used resin figures from PJ Productions. Regards ScalerDan...
I am thinking of getting this aircraft, one of the few US aircraft I like, this and the B26,is the flyhawk SBD worth getting.
Thank you for your comment. I can only recommend the kit. It is very detailed, fits perfectly and offers good building options. Unfortunately, the availability is not given everywhere. Regards ScalerDan
@@ScalerDan I've just ordered one from Jadlam.
