I'm honestly really suprised there wasn't any mention of ryoji's social link episodes in P3R as well as the additional dialogue you get on 12/31 if you complete all his episodes. His entire link being about ryoji trying to navigate human relationships and having a fairly heavy focus on the meaning of romantic relationships, as well as the "more than friends" line really suprised me. As for the extra dialogue on 12/31, in p3p if you did ryoji's romance route you'd get some extra lines from ryoji when making your descion. And in p3r you get those same lines if you do all of ryoji's social link episodes, which definitely has some implications. Sure the content in p3r may not be as in your face as the aigis romance in p3p, but it sure as hell turned that kinda homoerotic subtext between MC and ryoji in og p3 into something a lot more obvious. It was made so much more clearer in p3r that ryoji has some very deep feelings for MC I did overall enjoy the video !! I just wish there was a bit more coverage on ryoji ^^
Thank you so much! Once I've got all four parts of this series out, I'm going to upload it all into one long-form video and at the end of that I'll have an outro going over anything I think I could've missed with the previous parts. I'm definitely going to mention what I missed about Ryoji here, but if you think I miss anything going forward, make sure to point it out, and thanks again for the feedback!! :)
@@garfieldkermit Its no problem dude :D !! I'm glad to see someone talking about queerness in persona and I'm looking forward to your future parts ^^ keep up the good work 🫡
i love when my favourite charatcer ryoji (straight) said he "wanted us to be friends, but... [he] actually want[s] to be something more" it really displayed his platonic feelings towards the mc!!
I'm curious for Ryoji, I would suggest you check out the persona 3 film adaptations. More specifically movie 3, which focuses on the relationship between Yuki and Ryoji including scenes that don't feature in any game adaption. This is where I got on their ship, since Yuki now talking adds a new layer to their relationship. Movie 4 features ryoji less for reasons, but the climax still has them literally finishing each others sentences so. If you have the time I would recommend you check that out.
I was waiting for you to mention more about Makoto and Ryoji's references to Shinji and Kaworu from NGE, and P3 as a whole heavily referencing NGE. There's a lot of discussion about that online
Also, as somebody who falls under the trans umbrella, I'd say that beautiful woman not being trans is better. the idea that atlus making queer people a punchline and then getting mad when a trans woman isn't a punchline is lowkey hypocritical.
Oh definitely, I should've made it clearer that I didn't fully agree with that source's opinion, I just thought it was worth sharing that there were mixed opinions when the scene was removed :)
Man, those reactions to Persona 3 Reload with queer representation. It happens every time and no matter what, the media does well so they're just screaming at a brick wall
For Aigis character and story arc it makes sense that aigis doesn't care what gender the main character is she will love the main character anyway. In Persona games you can always choose who you Date but for Persona 3 and 5 Royal there is a character who is clearly the canon romance and for 3 it is Aigis. Side note if we ever get a new persona 3 spin off game then i hope we can finally save the protagonist i just want a happy ending for aigis
i disagree with this…..there is no canon romance option in any game. you can have your preference as to which one feels more natural, but there is absolutely no canon romance in any of the games.
@@thatforemankid2262 Watch both Persona 3 anime movies and say again that there is no canon romance. And just to be clear, the Persona 3 anime movies actually expanded the lore of Persona 3 and that especially applies to the main character and aigis Relationship. Not many people know that because the Persona 5 anime is very bad
@@joopvanhedel1372 bro, my point still stands. it’s all about perspective. cause low key, gun to my head, if you ask me what ship feels most natural and developed, i’m going to say fucking ryoji and makoto 💀
@@thatforemankid2262 I understand your opinion. For example, I chose Futaba in Persona 5 Royal despite sumire being the canon romance. I'm not saying that if you date Yukari you're doing it wrong. But aigis is just clearly the canon romance. every game and other form of media after the original game makes it clear that aigis is canon. Some people say Koromaru is the mascot of 3 but no it's Aigis she pretty much took over the role as leader and main character after the original main character died in both The Answer/Episode Aigis and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. and she is featured on the cover art of 3 dancing as the only human character of the dancing games on the cover art

Woah, a video about queerness in Persona and no homophobic comments from edgy teens? This is crazy
I'm very surprised you didn't mention any of Ryoji's linked episodes in Reload, they have very heavy romantic undertones, especially in the last one.
Hoping to talk about them more when I upload the final video, check out the reply to the pinned comment! :)

I never picked up on that but now you mention it I'm surprised i didn't notice it! I'll have to look into it more! :)
I expect a deep analysis of the scene where Yu and Teddie passionately make out.

Not to mention, Ryoji was... INSIDE of you?
Oh, btw, Ryoji straight up confesses his love to Makoto in his linked event

Hearing Wokesona spoken outbound is so funny it’s seriously sounds like a shitpost
I wonder if the dev's Transphobia Avatar was eaten by shadows during The Fall.
i like how the one scene i fully expected by the thumbnail isn't here lmao

Every persona game has fujoshi bait in it, except 3 and reload is "fixing it" by making Ryoji SL
