The simplicity is beautiful. I had a piano teacher that told me once, “for every musician on stage you should play 10-20% less. “ You keep the mix from getting muddy while fulfilling your role. Well done. 👍🏻
There are times when you just feel that you are listening to another part of your heart. Ive watched many many videos on worship guitar. This brother is a gifted teacher and player. I am going to save up some money and join his lifetime classes. I thank you my brother for all you do. Your blend of teaching guitar and the Word of God is so refreshing. I hope one day to understand the neck and the soul of worship like you do. God bless you!
I also love that you talk about the emotional qualities of the chords and sounds. The art of music (and art in general) and what is does is not lost with you. Thanks for this. This is something that is missing from "modern worship music."
in this one video you covered pretty much everything you need to lead guitar for worship and many other styles. Wish I had this video 20 years ago - great job 🎉
That's great sharing about David and Goliath. Am a street musician and gonna offer some real praise to God with my mouth when they come near. Thanks to Jesus from whom all blessing flow. You play gloriously well.
And to add to that, many people think the stone killed Goliath, but it didn't. The stone just knocked him unconscious, and then he grabbed Goliaths sword and chopped his head off with his own sword!!..... Great guitar lesson 🎸 💯
Absolutely awesome lesson! I can’t wait to get out my guitar and practice these with the cheat sheet! Loved your theological perspective on David’s less-is-more approach and not only do I agree with you but it was exactly what I needed to hear in my guitar journey.
Great to hear and yes, this is a great way to move from Acoustic to Electric. We also have this video that might be helpful to move from Acoustic to Electric. ua-cam.com/video/NxwGiOFgPjQ/v-deo.htmlsi=W-bLSsvsht7SxhA8
Awesome tutorial, great lesson! Had trouble receiving the cheat sheet but WGS was quick to help resolve the issue and make it right. Appreciate y’all and what you do!
This was so helpful to me! Im an acoustic player learning electric - my second sunday is next week. Knowing WHAT to play when is so difficult because the instrument is so diverse. This is helpful and gives me something to practice. Thank you! I'll be thinking about David when I hit those power chords 💪
Oh wow!!! Excellent, excellent video! Cannot wait to practice these strategies. This channel is an easy sub. So well done and presented in a way that easy to understand and practice right away. Thanks brother!
Thanks for this! Putting names to the 4-2 and 1-2 and 10th voicings is really good, I've used them but never really processed 'what they are'. Also - these can definitely be played as double-stops (closed and muted, just the 2 note diads), but I encourage everyone to try using capo to get in a position that takes all the sharps/flats (or at least, the most used ones in your song) out of your given key in a song, and playing appropriate open strings with these diads. Example: Battle Belongs in Bb, capo 3 for G position. You can play the chorus in the 4-2 voicings with the Bb (3rd string) ringing open. Also, the big opening riff you can let the same string ring open with the octaves. These sound really huge and full with little complexity, plays really nice with worship style effects, especially if you need to fill a lot of space as the electric guitar in your specific ensemble.
@WorshipGuitarSkills a lesson about using Capo would be awesome. I feel like there's so much "maths" but maybe you know some good shortcuts/cheat sheet.
Amazing video! I think the 4-2 voicing might be called 6th intervals though (major and minor 6th intervals) in case anyone wants to learn more about them.
@@WorshipGuitarSkills I’m pretty new to this. I’ve been playing with our worship team about a year and a half. I’m using a PRS through the Podgo. Love your content!
Good question. It would depend on the situation. For the most part though it helps to keep things simple because we don't want to distract the congregation as they engage in worship. But there are definitely moments where something like that can happen.
Woa I don't get to play in church because I get kicked out ... That's lame it's just old gossip floating around. Hi. Here is a link of a guy that makes really good patches ua-cam.com/video/hnVYrtP1Uf4/v-deo.html I would recommend to invest in one or two good patches, and then tweak those patches that's already good to suit your playing style and what you like. Hope it helps.
Self taught here. I have kind of been doing this with a couple of Barr chords but never really learned anything beyond the 3rd or 4th fret. I never realized there was a possibility of doing it all the way up and down the neck. I do not see the "Cheat Sheet" link however. Any way you could get it to me? Thanks

Hi @mikefojas5064 I think when playing only 2 notes at a time (Diads), it tends to work better with more sustain in your tone. Hi @JohnGaspara-wr9bc I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know about something like that at this time, but I've seen people tying a cloth or something around there guitar nut to mute the strings. Maybe try that, hope it helps.
No it's not related to the degrees of the major scale. Instead it refers to the 4th and 2nd strings. You can play the same chords on the 1st and 3rd strings too but I prefer the 4-2 version because it's a nice combination between a wound and unwound string.
