The 7 Day Challenge is 7 days with a different focus each day. The Practice Pack is a collection of backing tracks in different keys, progressions and tempos. So the challenge is more skills based and the practice pack is more of a resource.
I play, for twelve years, praise and worship with harmonica and Zoom G2nu effects at my church of about 1000 worshippers per week. I practice at home, lead worship guitar with triad fills. This video provides an approach l wish to perfect for my Gibson SG with Dirty Fingers pickups. Thanks
Such a GREAT LESSON! As a guitarist I used to complicate my understanding of music in wanting to master it, by simply not taking a step back to see the beauty in embracing the enjoyment of being a lifelong student of music! JUST JOINED GUITAR WORSHIP CLUB!!! MANY THANKS FOR YOUR AWESOME ENERGY & VESTED TIME !!!! CHEERS!!!
I have only played guitar 7 months but have played bass for 50 years. I know music theory. I have been playing guitar with a worship team once a week, I usually use my fingers, not a pick. I have used only the top and bottom notes of chords on the 2,3,4, strings. This video seems very helpful for getting the open sounding chords. I usually just figure out how to change from one chord to another (I use a keyboard to do this just see witch notes I need the change and how I need to change them) but these shapes look like an easier and faster way to do this. Keep sending these helpful videos. Thanks a lot your videos make sense.
Sooooo good! I’ve been playing for 50 years, and now I feel like many of these ideas are new, and yet very simple. Thanks so much for you teaching. Very excellent feel and flow to your sound also. God bless you!
This is awesome for the worship lead sound. I just tested it out on a few songs including Waymaker. You are so correct, instead of learning every note I can play it in 3 positions on the neck, swelling, palm muting with delay, and sliding the D string with delay. Instead of worrying on what note is next I am feeling the song and playing from the heart. I still need to work on how to mute the other strings for strumming.
@@WorshipGuitarSkills would it be too much trouble for you to do a video on the muting technique for strumming? Even a short one? That would be a huge help for me if you could!
Thank you much Charl.your lessons are so clear and so inspirational. You play so beautifully. You've given me new insight and total motivation to keep learning.
Your videos are very helpful. You teach in a simple, consise manner and explain things in a way that is easy to understand. I've been playing rhythm acoustic guitar in our church worship team, but am trying to stop into electric since we have another acoustic player now.
You got a new subscriber for sure bro. I've been wanting to learn electric and this video is so good and I've been going through alot lately and this made my day.
For a more systematic view, it's the A, E and D shape in CAGED system. Using D and B string only. The cool thing about this lesson on using the same string for all shapes, we can develop our voice leading skill. Since this concept force us to play on one string, it gives a fresh view of guitar playing. It opens the horizontal thinking.
These videos are amazing. Thanks for this Charl. Is it possible for you to make a video on how to make guitar tones for church. That would be an awesome topic to cover.
Praise The Lord!, It sounded so beautiful but I have a question, how do you mute the strings which you don't want them to hear.? Can you please make an indepth tutorial.
Thanks a mill Charl! Ons worship band se elektriese guitarists het juis gistraand bymekaar gekom om soortgelyke konsepte te bespreek - ek pos dit dadelik vir hulle! Ge-subscribe 😎🎸
This is great I always play the triads and some time it’s too much and it also gets boring. This dyads approach makes a lot sense. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Recently found your channel. I picked up acoustic about 18 months ago and fell in love. Started jamming with the worship team at church and also another worship band. Trying to slowly move to electric and your videos definitely help. Question regarding this video. When do you play which shape? Is it just as simple as use the different shapes when you want a certain voicing of the chords?
Yes, you just move it around the neck based on the chord you want. You can literally play any key in three different positions on the neck, using just the three shapes. Check out this video for more explanation and detail on this: ua-cam.com/video/A2-FwOs0-IA/v-deo.html
Basically he’s omitting the middle string from common triad shapes for cleaner driven sound that adds less mud to the band mix. Working smarter, not harder!
