Sometimes people don't respond to the commitment even if you are trying to be "loved" by people. Sometimes hard truth needs to be told and pressure is necessary. Leadership is not a popularity contest
absolutely correct. In the movie Master and Commander there is a young mid-shipman who tries to be loved by the sailors and it doesn't turn out well for him.
I don't agree when you say that " Anyone can be a leader" Your statement undermines the basic princple of leadership selection that an individual has some trainable qualities and some no-trainable qualities. While the qualities like collaboration & decision making can be trained, the core leadership qualities like courage, unselfishness & integrity can not be trained . Either you have them or you don't. So the armies world over look for these nontrainable qualities in their officer selection procedure. The trailer qualities can be imparted during the training.
I'll be closely following your lectures and newsletters Austin. I'm basing much of my MBA on this principle, and look forward to learn more from you.
Amazing
Taking notes, now it's just the question of applying this in the civilian/school environment
Excellent capsule format. Quality content like this needs support in going up in the selection algorithm. Liked and subscribed.
