Something that I had been wanting to for a while is sample the highly regarded Nottingham City Transport operation that is one of the last municipal operators in the UK. In this video we take onboard research about their award winning past and test out what the network is like for ourselves with a look at their colour coded network, peak time timetables and their range of vehicles currently on fleet.

The gas buses had problems at first but got fixed. The bio gas buses are impressive too

Nice to see your video reviewing Nottingham City Transport 👍👍 Been based there for a few years now and I’ve always been impressed by the bus network there, as well as their near endless Scania fleet 😅

A brilliant review of the network I am super familiar with. All the routes are just as great and a good length of time it takes for each journey. If you were there before 2001, most routes were cross city before the colour coded network began.
I hope you do Reading Buses soon, even though it's similar to NCT's, but the omnidekkas at NCT will be sadly missed as I have been interested in them for as long as the buses were in service.

26:02 NCT do have a second garage at Trent Bridge Works, the final OmniDekkas at the company are based out of there. NCT used to have a garage at Gotham for their South Notts buses however that has since closed.

The Nottingham Scania omnidekkas are well nice, cardiff have 8 of the 10 plates they had and in my opinion they are the best scanias in cardiffs fleet double decker wise

The 58X doesn’t run on top of the 58, it replaces them. There’s also a couple of runs on Saturdays too.

The colour coding was introduced around 2000, It was designed similarly to the London underground. Reason being to help out of town visitors. I've used nct all my life (56 years). It was interesting to hear your thoughts as a visitor. I regularly use both the brown line and orange lines as of writing this comment, the last remaining omnideckers run on the navy line number 4 to university clifton campus. I'll be sad to see them go as I liked the long Nottingham versions and the old square busses generally.
One last thing, nct bought the last of those bio gas 400s there will be no more as the fleet (nct) has the largest fleet in world, around 130 to 150 after these the future vehicles will have changed.

NCT bought 143 bio-gas buses from June 2017 to July 2022 numbered 401-543.. No, 500 is registered DD18 GAS. As you say, NCT have the world's largesr fleet of these buses. Current single-deck buses are Yutong and I understand a double-deck is being trialled with an order for 20 in the pipeline.
NCT is the largest muncipally owned bus company in England with Lothian Buses the largest in the UK. Many will not be aware that Transdev have an 18% share in Nottingham City Transport.
