It’s really not expensive at all and the service is 100x better than it was 10 years ago. Unless something goes wrong, 9/10 there’s a train every couple of minutes. National Railway however...
And the tourists pay loads on travel by covering the oxford circus- Tottenham ct rd by single journey payments, so the profits are rolling in. Don't panic, I pay for my travels
Why do the zones exist? Proof-of-payment require more people. Why not a flat fare for the entire TfL network. You’d still need to touch out if your journey involves national rail excluding Elizabeth Line and Overground.
@@QuarioQuario54321 because demand is much higher in zone 1, for the main tourist, business and governement area so a premium is applied. Busses and trams have a flat fare of £1.50 and all off peak train travel irrelevant of changes between zone 2 and 6 is £1.50 (apr 2019). London is 30km x 30km, so it would also be unfair to charge the same fare for 1 stop as it would be to travel the entire length. (50km including Reading and Gatwick)
@@QuarioQuario54321 It doesn't if you include the suburban rail network which is in the same fare system, if you include Londons suburban rail, which operates on metro frequency, the total is 619. Twice the size of NYC system. This is also failing to include the outter london reaches which the fare system applies to, such as watford, gatwick airport, which would easily cover another 100+ stations as well as covering a 50x50 km area. This would also be a backward step with the overall objective for numerous transport bodies and authorities in terms of integrating the contactless payment method accross the entire commuter belt for London which covers 200 x 200 sq km. You still thinking a flat fare would work?
It's the same in most places; if you look for intrigue, you will surely find it . . .public transport is no different; violence and criminals wielding knives or even firearms will materialise, if you are not vigilant. I encountered a couple of fare dodging police on a London Bus of all modes; and who demanded to know if I had a 'Freedom Pass', which I had used to board the bus. They weren't showing any authorizing badges, so I wasn't showing mine. That seemed to offend them, until they got a real dodger, which distracted them and they forgot about me. I also happened to have a driving licence, senior citizen's card and as passport as 'photo I.D.' which was easily seen when extracting my 'Freedom Pass' from my wallet. But, I may have looked 'a bit suspect' to them, despite my grey hair and advanced years. . . It is however, the only 'run-in' I've ever had with fare evasion inspectors, even when I was not a pensioner.
The number of times here in Brisbane I have witnessed bus drivers saying "you need to pay but I will let you on anyway, its your fault if you get in trouble" is surprising. Although a lot of that is because the drivers need to not leave people behind (kids/teenagers especially) in case they have no other way to get home. That and the drivers dont want to be in a position where the passenger in question gets violent.

Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." And the tourists pay loads on travel by covering the oxford circus- Tottenham ct rd by single journey payments, so the profits are rolling in. Don't panic, I pay for my travels
Next time I want a free ride I will whip out me weapon.
Pee shooter?
Why do the zones exist? Proof-of-payment require more people. Why not a flat fare for the entire TfL network. You’d still need to touch out if your journey involves national rail excluding Elizabeth Line and Overground.
So that they can calculate the fare depending on distance travelled.
Binary Signals Why not have a flat fare for everything?
@@QuarioQuario54321 because demand is much higher in zone 1, for the main tourist, business and governement area so a premium is applied. Busses and trams have a flat fare of £1.50 and all off peak train travel irrelevant of changes between zone 2 and 6 is £1.50 (apr 2019).
London is 30km x 30km, so it would also be unfair to charge the same fare for 1 stop as it would be to travel the entire length. (50km including Reading and Gatwick)
Binary Signals It’s been proven it can work through New York, which has 154 more stations and has a flat $2.75 for everything.
James Bond later became a local councillor for the area.
Okay, yay I love this show, good to see another episode.
You know you're in Britain when everyone is wearing hi-viz jackets and is trying to stay away from any conceivable threat by a minimum of ten metres.
That polish geezer was definitely at harrow-on-the-hill station
I love how 'Spark' went thru like 40 logo changes - lol
Why is this in my recommended? And wow, this is from 2005.
m8055 really 2005?
With autism, sufferers can have varying degrees of OCD, and changes to routines can cause mental chaos!

SlyDuck - you are more than welcome to put together a team and produce a new series.
3:25 why was he making a big deal, the train didn’t hit her?
He didn't know what was going to happen. It's better to be safe than sorry after all.
What year is was this filmed? I always use Wembley Park Station wonder where these people are now
Saed Magaag 2003-04
They are there still pay attention
@@mariodemelo9551 lmao
Oh yeah, there are plenty of those on the NYC Subway, and the MTA doesn't even care about them
Customer's always right
The number of times here in Brisbane I have witnessed bus drivers saying "you need to pay but I will let you on anyway, its your fault if you get in trouble" is surprising. Although a lot of that is because the drivers need to not leave people behind (kids/teenagers especially) in case they have no other way to get home.
That and the drivers dont want to be in a position where the passenger in question gets violent.
@@jfwfreo if you call the police you have to make a police report so no operator wants to waste their time everyday.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?
He’s sooo unfit he sounds out of breath just by talking sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen
