    i think these use a General Motors 10si alternator on these i think you can use a GM CS130 alternator or a smaller DENSO alternator on these as the DENSO is better. i seen Mustie1's video he has a Cushman Meter Maid a special truckster for the NY police department his ih uses an exhaust heater box with a blower fan. on his the Muffler is completely rusted out on it as i red these Trucksters were made up to 2002 but these are nice to have to move around the yard and that.

    John, they were designed for the mechanical as you know, but we haven't had much trouble using the electric fuel pumps you can get at a NAPA.

    • @cerescorubi
      @cerescorubi 4 роки тому

      Electric pumps cause more Cushman engine failures than anything except running out of oil. The electric pumps run the same speed at idle or full rpm. At idle most have too much pressure and push fuel past the needle in the carburetor, this puts raw fuel in the intake and on the cylinder walls washing the oil off and killing the rings. If you restrict it enough to stop this then you will run out of fuel at high rpm and run the engine lean and get it hot and ruin it. The mechanical one is perfect. It supplies enough at idle and more as rpm increases.

      Someone just welded a basket to hold a lawnmower 5 gallon tank on mine so its gravity fed. Problem solved.

      Can someone tell me where I can find a mechanical fuel pump I looked online it says it’s discontinued and nobody has one for sale. Can someone please give me a link to a rebuild kit or any new mechanical fuel pump? Thank you.

    I have an issue with my 82 not wanting to take any gas it just pukes it into the carb. Pulled the intake horn off and it all ran out 😅 took the carb off I can't see anything dirty or stuck, but there's a rubber tube that goes down under it to another plate with 4 bolts and it will not take any air

    Can you advise why a electric fuel pump will not work properly as opposses to the mechanical fuel pump?
    My freind says the electric will work fine as long as the pressure is the same.
    I have a 1967 Cushman Truckster with OMC 18 hp.
    Thanks

      A mechanical fuel pump can't move any gas when the motor is stopped. An electric fuel pump that shorts out or is set up wrong can continue pumping after shutoff, and eventually flood the oil sump.

    I have a Cushman Jr Turf Truckster (3 Wheel gas engine) which was give to me. Runs great but recently, the brakes went out. All documentation I found on-line indicates it could be low on fluid. The maintenance manual I downloaded (for the 4 wheel Truckster) shows the master cylinder under the cowling with a release for the cowling near the driver's side headlight. The Jr. Turf Truckster does not have that nor can I actually locate the master cylinder. The previous owner thought it was accessible from inside the driver's compartment but I see no access there. Any ideas where and how to access the Master Cylinder?

      As far as body/chassis, Direct Parts has practically nothing available. Everyone loves to recommend them but their prices are astronomical. It pays to shop around with the Cushman part number and find an alternative to these guys.
