Out of all their covers, you never heard anyone say "So and So did it better than Creedence".
That was pretty much my reaction when I first heard this song sitting in a barrack in Da Nang Vietnam listening through headphones 1969.
It's been said that CCR did the best version of the song ever recorded..,.
I have to agree
@@paulmorris8762 It was a combination cover of both the original by Screamin' Jay Hawkins and the previous cover by Nina Simone. The song itself is just brilliance, but CCR did every previous version justice with it's own unique and excellent spin on it.
Angelina Jordan! At 9 years old!
Joe Cocker did a great version as well!!
@@cindiloohoo I kept thinking the same thing. I would have loved to have heard either Nina or Hawkin's play this with them. The staccato-ish rhythm of the instruments makes this song difficult to make an original sounding cover without completely changing it Like Nina Simone’s version. But CCR captured the essence of the 2 most known versions, more Hawkins, but it still has its own feel and sound. CCR, despite regarded as rock gods, are terribly underrated in terms of their legacy. Never comes up when discussing greatest or favourite band. Fortunate son, Ever seen the rain, born on the bayou, etc. Everyone has heard their music. If you sit and listen to more of their songs you see the versatility in sounds. Done by their instruments, it’s not like The Beatles (my favourite band so this is in no way a diss) where there are horns, early examples of sampling, reversing the tape, orchestras, 4 composers (I’m including George Martin often called the 5th Beatle), etc. CCR did it with pure musicianship.
I miss good music. I know there are great musicians like Kendrik and all. But other than a few names you really need to look for good music. Like Run the Jewels, Spiritbox, Lisa hannigan, etc. I don’t understand the Rihannas or even recent Beyoncés. How is Lemonade a good album? Let alone considered a masterpiece. Also if you have a 100 producers and engineers making majority of the album then how is it a solo act. Most commercial music is curated by the artist and their main producer/executive producer and labels or whatever the latest trend is. Literally 30 odd songs are submitted and through elimination its brought down to album length by picking 15 odd tracks. Usually tracks people will think will get them streams or charts etc. And not one track is made by the artist. Rihanna is like a session musician on her albums. But she is unbelievably pretty. I guess that makes up for it.
CCR is another band that does not know what a bad song is
Agreed, I was a tween when this movie came out'
Well... they started awesome but degenerated with the in-fighting
Often say, they are one of the few bands I can think of, Lynyrd Skynyrd being another, where I literally like every song off of every album. It's just impressive beyond belief and there is such a range there, and yet you always know it's CCR within three seconds of hearing it.
@@cuebjno existen al lado de ccr
Yikes maybe it WAS magic???
No one did it better than CCR..No One!
Then you haven't heard Angelina Jordan's black and white version yet :-)
@@improveourselves3929 Not better than CCR ..NO ONE did it better…sorry
@@angelav9377 don't be sorry, just listen to Angelina and you'll understand.
@@improveourselves3929 nah
That's a fact! Even Screamin Jay Hawkins said CCR owned this song, that tells you something right there!👍✌️
The guitar solo was John Fogerty.
One of the best ever.
CCR did this cover straight up justice!!! Lol. This band NEVER disappoints.
Thank you for your reaction.
He is Mind Blown!
❤CCR
No words needed brother, no words needed....
They did this better then anyone, ever! You can never go wrong with CCR. :)
You can never go wrong with CCR.
John Fogerty has written MANY CLASSIC FUNKY TUNES! DIG IN!
I LOVE CCR. ❤️🧡💛💜💙💚
John was in his mid twenties when they did that song. It is remarkable that someone that young could sing the blues that well without the life experiences needed to bring pathos to the voice. Gifted...?
It's a work of genius.
CCR did this at Woodstock in 1969. John Fogerty on lead vocal is amazing. This is the best version in my opinion. Anything CCR does is amazing. I was around back then. Almost went to Woodstock but the Marine Corps came calling.
John not only sings spectacularly, but listen to his guitar solo. ❤❤❤❤
CCR is the most underrated tot to band of the sixties. Even though practically everyone had their records in their collection
Went to a John Forgerty concert in the early 2000's. I think I was the oldest guy there. So many very young people ! Made me feel OLD (I was in my 50's)
When John came out and played CCR songs, the crowd sang along word for word. Course and verse. You got on the band wagon late my friend, but better late than never.
chorus*
I'm 58, been listening to this music my whole life.
This was all the band. No modern equipment to change the sounds.just them.
Fantastic , his voice is everything , and the guitar solo , my god ❣️
IT IS SIMPLY WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU ENJOYING "OUR" OLD FOLKS MUSIC!!!!! CCR WAS SUCH A GREAT BAND, THANK YOU FOR THE REACTION...ENJOY!
So true, my fav reactor to really good blues, expresses my sentiments exactly.
Indeed. What excites me is that the younger people will hear the messages in the music that we heard
I’ve listened to this a thousand times. It never ceases to blow my mind. There’s a live version you should check out, if only for your own enjoyment
You just heard the best version of this song.
Sorry to disagree with you but in my opinion have you ever heard Angelina Jordan's rendition . Check it out and you might change your mind.
@@GaryBarlow-js3ph I have. It doesn't. She certainly has an amazing voice, but her version focuses on showing off her voice at the expense of the tune itself. It makes the tune kind of boring, quite frankly.
@@NigelIncubatorJones Matt, if by tune you mean lyrics they are both quite similar to the original, if you mean instruments and music Angelina's rendition is by far closest to the original , Screamin J Hawkins.
@@GaryBarlow-js3ph That's not what I mean. I'm not talking about fidelity to the original. I mean that the most important thing is the song itself, taken as a whole. If any one part of the song is overemphasized at the expense of the other parts, it detracts. So yes, her voice is awesome and she really belts it out. But the melody of the song is just not as interesting/pleasant/groovy as the CCR version. In short, when I hear Jordan's version I think "what an awesome voice she has" but when I hear CCR's I think "what an awesome song this is, which by the way happens to have an amazing voice and great guitar, bass, drums".
@@NigelIncubatorJones We will have to agree to disagree. Creedences was a perfect blend of rock and blues and Angelina's was a perfect blend of jazz and blues. It's been a pleasure
I LOVED your reaction to this song! Being an old broad, I remember hearing it for the first time and falling so in love with the Blues. And that love has never wavered! CCR does this song in a way that you can't help but love it and compare everyone else's version to it. Great job!
I sent your reaction to this song to my dad. He's 74 years old and this is probably his favorite CCR song Great reaction, dude!
Shoutout to Pops lol! Thank you!
@@MMBxMOB He loved your enthusiasm lol!
This is some heavy blues shit man . He they did the cover Justice
This song was absolutely phenomenal when was released in the late 60s. This was the first CCR record that I bought. It is as good today as it was when it was released.
CCR!!!❤❤
I just saw, someone on UA-cam react to this awesome song at Woodstock. I read or heard S. Jay Hawkins dug CCRs version so much he said "they owned the song". Im listening to music over 60 years CCR is still my favorite group ever. More ,,🔥🔥🔥🔥 FIRE. Traveling Band Up around the Bend and Night Time is the Right Time.
Love your reaction. They clearly put a spell on you. They are magic! They are blues. They are soul. They are special. They are gifted. They touch your soul.
Loved your reaction. You’re absolutely right. A moment of silence was needed after that. CCR and John Fogerty himself really defied categorization. From the back porch type band on “Down on the Corner” to the fun sing along “ Centerfield “ to this epic blues/jazz song, they slayed it. Have fun exploring the playlist.
My dad's band CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL has over 20 big hit songs. You will love them all. Check out the album Cosmo's Factory and Chronicle ( their 20 greatest hits compilation ) every song on both those albums are WINNERS !!
This is a huge banger. Again CCR owns it 🤘❤️
Best cover ever made of this particular song. Peace out.
I love CCR and John Fogerty so much. Since my sister played Lookin out my Back Door for me when I was an infant, John's voice has been such a source of happiness in my life.
CCR does the best version of this song ever!!😊
best cover of this song!
This is the BEST reaction I’ve ever seen to one of my favorite bands. John Fogerty is a beast on the microphone and genius musician. I had the pleasure of seeing him last night in concert. This reaction did him justice.
Great music and Great Artist are without color.
this has always been my favorite CCR song...........nuff said
CCR is one of my favorite legendary rock bands. Love this song.
I'm feelin' ya! You acting like I felt in 1968 when I first heard this. I was 17. This song put a spell on me. Thanks for letting me relive that moment with you. We have just connected 1968 to today with a musical wormhole.
"you know what, nevermind..."
😂😂😂👍🏻
CCR also wrote proud Mary the one that Tina Turner and Ike Turner did was wrote by CCR
When you watch Screamin' Jay Hawkins' version, you'll realize how much CCR made this their own!
Anyone that feels the music like this guy I'll watch the feeling is mutual.
It's wonderful to see younger people discovering the amazing talent of CCR and those bands from the 60's and 70's. It's amazing that these songs will open the younger generation to those that came before and influenced those like John Fogerty. If you loved this bluesy side to CCR, I suggest you listen to "Long As I Can See The Light". You WILL NOT be disappointed. Thanks
Love CCR, they were the first serious rock band of my youth, great reaction my friend.
One of my favorite all time bands, singers! Saw them live 3x before they broke up in 1972, San Jose Civic Auditorium, SF Crystal Ballroom, Filmore West. Had a ticket to see John Fogerty and his sons at Thunder Valley Casino last August, all CA shows were canceled. Some kind of health issue. Tried see him this month, same venue, sold out before I even knew they were on sale😢. Since 1968, my nickname has been SusieQ.
Definition of "They don't make 'em like they used to", right here.
I saw CCR live back in the 70s at Pine knob. That was a fun night.
Love, love your ReeAction!! Glad you are discovering the music that baby boomers lived for 😻💥🎸🥁☮️. CCR doesn’t sing a bad song - they’re all real BAD !! Keep enjoying CCR & you’ll be back for more over & over again, because this band does Put A Spell On You ! Sending greetings from 🇨🇦😻
You said it all!! Woodstock is a treasure trove for you to discover 🥰 I listen to many Woodstock songs everyday, takes me back to my teens & enjoying all the genres from those days! Please take time to sit back & listen /watch the Woodstock concertCCR very popular, Santana blew people away with their new sounds, Ten Years After with Alvin Lee making the crowd crazy with I’m Goin Home, Canned Heat Going Up The Country, Joe Cocker , Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, CSN&Y, etc… 🔥💥☮️
Amazing how a Band from Northern California can sound they came out the Deep South. I love CCR first heard them as teen in the 80s loved them ever since I know I was late to the game but I was only a toddler when they released these songs.
You have become my new favourite Reactionary. Your passion and obvious love of our old music is so wonderful to watch. When you picked up the mic half way through and then couldn't say anything? You didn't need to say anything, your reaction was saying everything that was necessary. Bless.
Great reaction! I feel you!
Screamin Jay Hawkins, Nina Simone, Angelina Jordan all did great versions. This is far and away the BEST!
John buts the soul in soul man trust me there will never be another ccr ever again
Another great song that will split your mind by them is Born On The Bayou. This song makes my skin crawl, and the swamp sound makes your body want to move in strange ways.
When it’s good it’s good nothing else needs to be said! Love the reaction!
magic, blues, rock, swamp, soul, just a musical gumbo! unmatched!
Your reaction is by far the Best. It is just the way I feel when I listen to CCR on this I Put a Spell on You cover. These guys were fantastic and John Fogerty is epic once again. By the way the 60’s were awesome, and CCR did it right.
This is one of my ASMR songs. It just makes my brain tingle
Yes, finding a song that you know and love but you don’t know who performed it or the actual title of the song is very exciting. ❤
Thanks for this. I love me some CCR as I think that I've told you before. Loved them when I was young and love them still at 63 yrs. They are rocking soul for sure.
I absolutely love your reaction to this song! So genuine. This has been my favorite band my whole life (I'm 51). John wrote a song in 2007 called "Can't go wrong with a Creedence song"!
I love how you love them. ❤
WOW, Hands down YOUR BEST reaction to date!!! ❤ from MN!
Game Set Match!!! Lol!!
I'm at about the 7:13 mark, but I remember encountering this in high school, and again this is one of those very few bands where I like every song that they ever did on every album and I bought all of their albums. You know how you like in junior high I had already bought a couple of their later albums and then I bought this first album, their debut album, and I loved every song on it, just like I love all of their songs on every album, and this one I would get so wrapped up in.
That's why I love how much you are getting into it, the things you are doing and listening to it three times in a row and just really feeling it, that's exactly what I was doing when I first really engaged with this song. I think it's pretty amazing. I'm 60 years old.
Goosebumps as usual !! LOL
The vocal and lead guitar was performed by John Fogerty, the band just did incredible job on this version of I Put A Spell On You which is my favorite.
Oh god. I love CCR.
CCR's version of heard it through the grapevine is epic!
Yes, the Long version!👍✌️
CCR is a band that knows how to pour the swamp juice over a song. This is a groundbreaking composition from Screamin' Jay Hawkins, and the CCR cover is very good. You haven't heard the most shocking version of it until you've heard Angelina Jordan's arrangement, which is based on the original. A film crew captured her recording it in the studio, in black & white, and it's straight fire. Throw some cushions on the floor around your chair before you listen to it, though, so your jaw has a soft place to land. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html
Come on, Annie Lenox tore this song up yeeaars ago…
@@colleenhill5840 Annie Lennox is a pro, no doubt. I still say Angelina's version of I Put A Spell On You cannot be beaten for sheer blues feel and surreal quality. Great reminder of one of the greats, though, Colleen. Sweet Dreams are made of Annie Lennox. :)

Oh my God, I love it. I love it so much!
Freakin fantastic!!!
LOVE IT, Love You! I grew up on CCR, Mountain, the Beatles...whatever my brothers put on the turntable . John Fogerty is indeed magical. Thank you...
Wish we could go get a drink and listen to this song in the bluesiest of blues clubs.🔥☮️💜🤘
This is probably the best reaction to ANY song ever seen. 😂
I believe anyone with a heart and a musical ear feel the same way.
This is a masterpiece in every aspect. Can very well be on the
top 5 songs ever made.
You're cracking me up..cause i know just how you feel about this song!!!💞✌️
Yep, another great cover done by them.
Epic masterpiece!!!🤘🤘🔥🔥🎵🎼🎶🎤🎙🥁🎹🎸🤘🤘
This is the original! CCR baby!
Told ya didn’t they! Just great!
Fogerty has a voice. Ain’t no denyin’!!!
This is from their set at the Woodstock festival
Great reaction to a great group. I grew up listening to CCR. My favorite group of that decade.
Now you know how ccr took my generation in the 60s
Oh yeah , I listened to CCR in high school way back in the late sixties.
In the Pantheon of great cover versions this is the supreme God.
That is the best piece of music I’ve heard in a long time. Dear God……. Great reaction.
no computers, only soul, CCR, the real american band
First time I've watched a reaction video twice through... and you hardly even said a word! I feel you man!
man, you said it perfectly..''that dude is magic''....and the boys in the band ....them too
I decided years ago that I wanted to learn how to play guitar before I turned 60. This is the song I choose. I played rhythm, my cousin played bass, his son lead, and my nephew on drums the night before my birthday. We got up on stage, me with my retro pink metal flake guitar, and had a blast.
If the blues are your cheat code, you really should check out CCR's bluesy tunes "The Working Man", "Graveyard Train", "Penthouse Pauper", "Tombstone Shadow", "Feelin' Blue".
