    I for one watch you guys because its just nice to see a couple buddies building something together. I don't do lifting, barely follow the sports you talk about, certainly am not an athlete. It just gives me hope to see a couple guys figuring out how to make a living out of a thing the love, in the goal of helping folks out. Good stuff. Lockpicking Lawyer is a good example on one side, his joy in the act, and the brevity of the videos and staying tight on his subject is great. On the other side you have content creators that have a particular focus, but consistently branch out looking into new things, talking about topical items the odd react etc. You two have IMO a nice balance in between. Call it a 80/20 split? I don't know, just keep doing what yer doing and it'll be good. :D

    You almost said exactly what the problem with the Hubermans (et al) of this world is. You have a bunch of Dunning-Kruger effect people who want to pin themselves to what they think of as a clever person so they can be thought of by other Dunning-Kruger effect people as clever by association. But the issue with Huberman and the others is that they were very capable in one area, and then started speaking on other topics they didn't know as much, or often anything about, but used their veneer of expertise when doing so to give them automatic legitimacy

    • @TheMightySilverback_
      @TheMightySilverback_ 2 місяці тому

      Huberman frequently has exceptionally qualified individuals in those fields on as guests though, Israetel rarely if ever does the same.
      Obviously Huberman steps outside of his own expertise at times but at least you would see him getting corrected or informed by his guests. When Mike debated Coach Greg he came off as an angsty teen who read 5 studies and acts like there's nothing else to discuss.

    • @waleedabbas4996
      @waleedabbas4996 2 місяці тому +4

      @@TheMightySilverback_ Huberman is even worse with how frequently and confidently he speaks on things out of his expertise.
      Secondly, what was there to discuss? Greg literally backtracked on everything and watered down his positions. Nothing Mike has said or done will ever come close to the Turkesterone fiasco.

    A lot of more edited videos have a pull for the genpop, but the genpop isn’t super interested in carrying over to your business cause they just aren’t part of the cohort of serious trainees after your product. So less editing is totally fine for the people who will actually pay you.

    It's ironic that Israetel has said in multiple occasions that the reason he started using PEDs was to get that useful information to all the knuckleheads who can only gauge "much muscle = much knowledge" and now his professional capacity is being judged based on his bodybuilding competition placements. Like does Brad Schoenfeld look like Mr. Olympia? Not at all, yet he's just about the god of hypertrophy knowledge. It's a shame that people who could get their best physique possible from his advice prefer copying Ronnie Coleman's training and probably injuring themself for good.
    However, it's the vocal minority and malicious actors like Greg Douche. I believe he attacked Menno Henselmans as well recently, who is just as great of training science communicator. I guess it just speaks about the person and how much valuable things they have to say if that's their method of operation. On the other hand everywhere you click in the evidence based fitness field, you'll find people knowing and digging Israetel. Like in youtube comments you will find positive mentions about him on just about any channel.
    You said how people should have some doubts on what they hear online and from experts, like Huberman talking about topics he has no idea about. I think as a scientist who has built his platform on the idea of being an expert sharing professional knowledge, you have some responsibility and intellectual honesty to respect when you dabble outside your world. As general audience it's tough to follow when someone makes that leap from being an expert in the topic to being just a smart guy talking out of his ass and interpreting single studies with very narrow understanding of the field. The level of confidence as a scientist should reflect your knowledge on the topic and field. There's for example a whole different atmosphere if you listen to people like Eric Helms and Eric Trexler talk, what they're willing to confidently say and when they point out that they don't have a good understanding or enough data, but if they had to personally make a guess, here's what they would say. Israetel is more confident on interpreting or guessing, but on the other hand even without the personality, there's the business and being a mascot to the business creating attraction and interaction in media. He's also willing to make all kinds of statements about AI and medicine, but those he does in casual conversations instead of with the expert hat on.
    I guess if you want to summarize, being a human and navigating in the sea of media communication is tough. On all fronts and sides. So many things to keep in mind and consider and then there's the interaction with other humans as well, preferrably with positive goals.
    On not shit talk subjects: god damn olympic judo has been on a good roll now that it started. Hifumi Abe naturally dominating the whole -66 kg. Surprise defeat of Uta Abe. Luukas Saha giving the rank 1 Vieru run for his money. Olympic broadcast producer showing the injured players at the patching station and repeatedly playing back clips of getting injured, against judo broadcasting rules. All kinds of stuff!

      @MellonVegan 2 місяці тому +4

      As a general rule, there are some integration issues (and in Germany, the issue is the lack of the right kind of migration, actually) but most of the public and media opinion is being driven by isolated but extreme incidents that are then also misrepresented by the media bc they obviously report on things months or even years before the police and courts have done their job.
      Like that mass rape incident at Cologne main station some years back. Turns out that never happened or at least not like the stories said. There were mainly hundreds (iirc) of accounts of women reporting being groped but it seems like they were also just pickpocketed. Apparently, they did one crime to hide the other.
      There may or may not have been a rape case, I don't quite remember. But what did the media say?
      "50 immigrants rape young woman at main station, each taking turns."
      That one fabricated incident (and maybe others like it) is the main reason Germans want African and (not East-)Asian immigrants gone. It's just lies for hate-clicks. There are real issues with immigration but people never actually address the real issues.
