Ive owned Camaro’s and mustang’s and enjoyed both. That said I’m waiting to learn what Easter eggs are coming with the last camaro build. The clock is certainly ticking though. I also want to see more real world numbers from the new mustang too. I see ford is incentivizing the 23’ mustangs and haven’t ruled them out given they are offering 0% interest for 3 years atm.
I have a 2023 ZL1 M6, it has 840 miles on the car. I don't think you are missing out that much performance wise. I have only briefly seen what the ZL1 can do since it is not fully "broken" in. I think the LT1 is a great performance value. Thank you for the video. Happy Motoring!
I’ve owned my new 2022 Camaro LT-1 now for two weeks & it hasn’t been out of Sport Mode since I picked it up at the dealership! Yes it has the performance quad exhaust 😊
(GreyGhost here. Not sure what happened to my old account but switched phones 🤷🏼♂️)I ended up pulling the trigger on a 23’ 5.0. The incentives ford was offering and the price increase of the 24’ camaro (with the disappointing stickers and badge finial run package) sealed the deal for me. I ended up paying 5k under msrp…and 0% for 36 mo. That said…I’m looking forward to following along on your channel 🤙
@@jimrageLT1 I was leaning camaro BUT yeah the incentives on the mustang were hefty. And saw that Chevy again raised the price of the 24’. I also had a hard time finding any dealership with a Camaro on their lot. Just crazy. Either way, mustang/camaro both are the last of a dying breed…and I’m glad to have a v8 in the garage again! ✌🏻
I just did Tail of the Dragon/Devils Triangle, and Cherohala Skyway, with my LT1 Manual and the car is just absolutely amazing. Even the gas mileage is surprisingly good.
@JimRageLT1 the power delivery in the LT1 is pretty great. I'm sure yours would crush it. I'll be doing it again next year with my club. It was amazing seeing hundreds of Camaro's running it
Hi! A black LT1 is headed for a nearby dealership and I am planning on test driving it. I think it awesome you were able to take your LT1 on those crazy roads! Please tell me, had you modified your LT1 before taking it onto the Dragon? Suspension/handling mods? 1LE suspension upgrade? Better/wider tires?
@steveandamyalso Zero Mods. On those two days, my group had SS's and even a 2023 ZL1 1LE. The car was fantastic! Did 5 trips on Tail, 2 on Cherohala Skyway, 1 on Foothills Pkwy, and 1 on Devil's Triangle. Didn't even notice any brake fade with the hours of driving. Now I do plan to upgrade the tires soon to Michelin Pilots or Continental Extremes. That would be my main recommended upgrade. You can always use better grip.
@1c3sly13 Excellent! That is very encouraging. I can personally vouch for the Continental Extreme Contacts. For the six years I have been driving my 370Z I have kept Sport+ on all four wheels and I have never regretted it. I know a couple of other people who also swear by the Sport+. If I can get my hands on an LT1, I have considered upgrading to Sport+ 255/40/20. I have also considered looking high and low for a set of used Chevy OEM 9" or 9.5" rims.
Got my 23 LT1 4 months ago just cracked 3,000 miles on it. Absolutely love it. One thing I will say is at least here in Texas I’ve seen only a handful of LT1s besides mine even at car shows. Makes me wonder if they are not being made much or just somewhat rare?
I think some people are put off by the non-SS front bumper and think of it as a "base model" even though it has the same engine. It's the same as an SS in just about every way that matters...except for the front end and wheel/tire sizes but a bit lighter and therefore a bit quicker. Some just don't get it.
Much Thanks, Jim! I appreciate the video and looking forward to the next! Considering the horsepower the gas mileage is freaking phenomenal imo. That stock exhaust note is simply superb!
Your welcome! And you're right about power/price. No better value. With no add ons and an M6, your under 40K. Go A10 and you MIGHT be a little over 40K. As equipped, mine was 43K (NPP Exhaust, Strut Tower Brace, RS package, some interior stuff). I think prices have gone up a little since I got mine. Maybe 1K for what I have, I think. Did you decide to pull the trigger yet?
I hear people complain about the tires sometimes but, for my needs, I like them. I don't track the car and haven't really tried to burn them down at all, but they seems sticky enough. My biggest gripe would probably be the road noise they pick up, like I said in the video. I'm not a tire expert so take that as you will.
Great video, I have the same car a 23 sharkskin LT1, only difference I can see is that I have black mirrors and spoiler. Regarding the ride quality in tour/sport mode, as far as I know without the uplevel suspension only the exahust and steering weight are effected, not the ride. Might be mistaken but I think it requires the magnetic ride option to effect the shocks. Switching out the run flats for Continentals transformed the ride and handling for me though, also drive to work daily, drive is an hour each way.
Sounds like you got the satin black appearance package. I had that on my build, but took it off to save a little. Also, I think that package was on constraint at the time of my order. You're probably right about the ride in tour/sport. IF there's a difference, I've concluded it's very, very subtle.
@@jimrageLT1 Ok the satin black appearance package, not sure if i would have preferred with or without but it's what they had in stock locally. The roads are nasty in the Detroit area where i work but ditching those run flats made it a joy to drive even without that magnetic ride setup the high end ones have, doesn't pull around the road with the grooves at all either. Keep up the videos always enjoy.
Mines waiting for a 2024 Order to be accepted (August 7th orders open). I work a dealership and I was considering one for years, but it’s now or never to get one so I pulled the trigger. It’s everything I want, without the ugly SS front and the staggered tires that you can’t rotate easily.
Aug 7, eh? Good to know, thanks. I couldn't do staggered tires on my daily. I gotta be able to rotate to the mileage out of my tires so it hurts less when it's time to buy new ones, lol.
@@jakeweinstein6809 so it’s kind of like “amount that you are slated to receive, based upon the amount that you have previously sold.” It’s all confusing and even though I literally have access to all the tools that show allocation and ordering, I still don’t fully understand how it works. It’s basically voodoo-magic where a car sometimes shows up unexpectedly
The dual tip will be the dual mode exhaust. It has valves that open up when you step on the pedal so it's louder with a more aggressive tone, but not extreme. Sounds good for a factory exhaust. As far as I know, you can still get the bubbles on the standard exhaust but I couldn't say if they sound the same. Maybe someone who knows for certain can add a reply here.
Thinking of ordering a six speed 2024 2SS Camaro. Can you explain how the skip shift works when the car is in 1st gear and will shift into 4th gear? Is there a way to get into 2nd gear from first gear?
As I understand it, there's a solenoid in the transmission that'll block shifting into 2nd & 3rd under certain driving parameters (speed, throttle percentage, RPMs, etc) to increase gas mileage. I don't have this, so I couldn't say how intrusive it is. I think it's more for every day driving. In videos of people doing hard pulls from a dead stop, I don't hear them say anything about it. Phastek and other places sell skip shift eliminator, but again, I've never used or installed one. Maybe take a test drive... IF you can find one in your area? Now you have me curious, lol.
@@mmcgaa I did test drive a 2022 2SS manual six speed and experienced the skip shift, it forced me to shift from first to fourth gear. I was able to shift from fist gear to second gear when shifting from first gear before reaching 15 mph or when the car exceeded 20 mph.
I ran a best 12.322 @ 117.01 mph at Island Dragway when the DA was -500ft. I have a 2020 LT1 6-speed. The automatics should be a few tenths quicker on street tires, and I've seen autos run high 11s @ 118 with just a sticky tire.
Did you enjoy the drive? Was it informative for your decision to buy or not? I wanna know! What else can I review about the car for you?

Sometimes I go 100+ with people in the car and they don't realize until they look at the speedometer. LT1 is so smooth
It really is. The only telltale might be the road noise picked up by the tires
