To get a good first impression,I’m trying to extol the virtues of a person in front of me. I had an occasion not so long ago, when my partner was rendered speechless by my compliments. His expression was so funny 😂
He answered me that he’s wholeheartedly grateful for my words, but then respectfully disagreed with them.
😀 Excellent! 👏🏻
@@tothepointenglishwithben. thank you so much!!!
Thank you
You're welcome 🙂
Wow, your videos are riveting! I'm wholeheartedly grateful for all your wonderful videos. BTW, I'm reading a book "catch-22" that you have recommended. It's a mesmerizing 🔥, the meaning is so profound
That's great! I'm glad you like the book. It's one of my favourites... In fact, I need to read it again 🙂
Please create more videos like this 👍
Will do 👍
Not to over extol the virtues of Ben's teaching skills, but I ought to admit, I wholeheartedly agree to vehemently disagree that there are many more better English teachers out there on the UA-cam platform.
Thanks for the video, teacher. I'd like to ask, how often do native speakers use the word "scupper"? It seems to me that words like "spoil" or "wreck" would be also fine and I hear them quite frequently. Thanks in advance
On its own, we hardly ever use "scupper". But as a collocation with "plans" it's quite common.
@@tothepointenglishwithben. Thank you for this lesson!
Is it possible to use the verb 'scupper' with 'chance'?
Yes, it is another collocation with "scupper". A little less common than with "plans", I would say.
Such great lessons and examples, thank you so much! My plans for lying and doing nothing were scuppered by your amazing lesson hehe
😆
You can tell that the teacher is an Englishman because in the US, we use “scuttled” instead of “scuppered”. We love the Brits!!
It was a great 😃👍 video 📸, fantastic! 😍
Glad you liked it 🙂
