I just returned here after being away for 50 years. Some good things but a lot of bad. The roads haven't been touched since I left, they're worse than most 3rd world countries. Potholes 4 inches deep with no plans to fix them. No wonder she took this video in the snow. The business areas have been taken over by druggies and the fentanyl crowd. They're passed out on church doors steps and everywhere downtown with garbage, blankets, cardboard signs demanding money "for their kids that need surgery." Anywhere there are bushes you'll find them. Umpteen tents, garbage, human waste and stolen bikes in various states of chop. Plus anything else that isn't nailed down. Expect Kingston to look like San Francisco North very soon. The waterfront "scenic trails" along the Rideau River have been taken over by the Hub, a government funded place that promotes the legalization of narcotics. The whole area is a cesspool, with plans to expand, despite the outcry of local businesses and residents. Such a shame to see the area you grew up in turned into this. Should you cycle, the main street, Princess Street, will destroy the carbon forks on your bike north of Division Street. Plus it's full of REALLY ugly buildings of mismatched sizes and uses. So much for "Official Plan" conformity. City councillors are mostly a joke, waxing on about the environment and climate change while their own town goes to hell. They don't even have an office, where they can be reached - they work out of their bedrooms on gmail! Total farce! The Queen's University area is nice though because that's where all the big donors are. However, prepare to fight your way through throngs of college girls dressed up like Hooter girls as the moral decay continues. One other thing: Don't even think about getting a family doctor, make sure you stay very, very healthy because there's a 20 year waiting list! The city has one walk-in clinic that's manned by a physician's assistant (i.e. a nurse). That's it! Plan on living near the hospital emergency entrance if you can find a parking spot on the pot-holed roads.
Yep. I hear ya. Pot holes are big and bad. I will pin your comment. People thinking about moving here might want to see this comment. Thank you for watching
Amen 🙏 you said it all and very well … I live three houses away from crack head central .. I love fentanyl Friday’s .. Brings out Kingstons finest!!! Park toy car across the road sometime and watch the parade of people seeking drugs .. they go around the building and leave 10 minutes later .. non stop .. Ameys taxi asks for payment before the crack heads get in the car .. they’ve been ripped off sooooooooo many times !! The homeless run this city !!! The mayor has lost control of a situation he created.. Kingston never had this level of crack heads before the pandemic.. all these old hags wanting the poor homeless to stay in this area is because they don’t want them in their own neighborhood.. !! Tourists.. stay away.. it’s a disgusting city and it’s run by crack heads
I use to live here for seven years, 37 years ago' 79 - 86',, 4 different locations first Macpherson, then Bath street, after next to the Penitentiary then finally Sir Joh A MacDonald road. It was nothing like your description then. Gone are the good days.
Wow! Wish I was in Bali. I was there a few summers ago and loved it. We are still in lockdown here in Canada. Thank you for watching! Heading to your channel.
Thank you for a great little travel video. My mother, Nadine Shea was born there, so maybe we could be related in some way. That is why I am trying to gain a little knowledge about Kingston. 👍 🇨🇦 ✌️
Haha! Wow! Interesting! I would have to know when your side of the family came to Canada from Ireland and what town or village in Ireland your Family is from. Small world. Maybe we could chat on social media privately.
How is the crime rate in Kingston. With schools everywhere, teenagers and independent youths, presumption is that crime would be high. Please need your response. Is a place I want to live with toddlers who will one day grow to be adults and environment matters in raising kids. Thanks.
toronto is so expensive that i was considering moving to kingston, but now that i know it is loved because of colonialism, its army and its prison, i think I'm good! 😅

This was interesting but I had to stop watching at 5.18, due to the dreadful background music.... won't watch any more. Ah, the silence is golden!
