Guelph is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada with a population of about 130,000. Known as "The Royal City", Guelph is roughly 28 km (17 mi) east of Kitchener and 100 km (62 mi) west of Downtown Toronto, at the intersection of Highway 6, Highway 7 and Wellington County Road 124. The city is built on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
Guelph began as a settlement in the 1820s, established by Scotsman John Galt, who was in Upper Canada as the first Superintendent of the Canada Company. He based the headquarters, and his home, in the community. The area - much of which became Wellington County - had been part of the Halton Block, a Crown Reserve for the Six Nations Iroquois. Galt would later be considered as the founder of Guelph.

As a Guelph resident, this really amped up the city more then I could imagine. It got me thinking about the beauty of old Town and the history. Alot of buildings have taken from the historic view. Also the tunnels are fascinating. The Albion hotel and the prohibition period has its own story. The baker Street "cemetery " to be polite about it, has a story of its own. Guelph ghost tour, Ignatius loyola college, many many churches, always somewhere to be and or go.
I have never heard of this place Leonard but does look cool.

I spent two years of my childhood in Guelph. I loved it there so much that moving back to the U.S. was very hard for me. The city is even more beautiful 53 years later! Keep shining, Guelph!

@@meherprasad1283 i have indeed. I have lived here for 1.5+ years and it's absolutely beautiful, calm and welcoming. I wouldn't recommend it if you are on a budget (it's more expensive than Waterloo, etc) but absolutely beautiful. It's not Toronto like huge but it's small and not packed with people or amenities. Only how much is necessary. I am however a PhD student at Uoguelph so I get free Guelph transit and good accommodation but it's easy nonetheless

Wow Leo, this city is really awesome, i love this, the only thing that would stop me from moving there, is the too cold climate in winter, I would not be able to live, I would lock myself in the house until it is warm

Could have mentioned the amount of major companies that call Guelph home. The Guelph Royals would have been a good shout out along with the University Varsity teams that are cool to watch and be a fan of. Sleeman Brewery and all that it does for the city with jobs, support of the Storm and maybe could have said something about the Conestoga school as well. Good think no mention of property taxes and that they are in the top 10 for highest tax rates in the county, how bad the traffic is with soooo many lights and no roundabouts on super busy roads, that would help traffic moving.
Wow! You know Guelph! I used to go down to Hastings Stadium on a night summer night and watch the Royals as a kid. Sleemans is huge in Guelph and their name is all over the Sleeman Center when you watch the Storm play on a Friday night.Hahaha...and yes taxes are high! Great comment! Very knowledgable!

It's totally gone downhill from what people may remember.. it's all about MONEY and getting too big for being a nice clean crime free small town. Over run by university students not living on campus where they need to be, therefore No housing left and no reasonable prices for the growing into adulthood Born Guelphites. We need a great Mayor and responsible councillors, which are not present at this time Feb. 2023. It's getting worse by the day.. Born here decades ago, I have seen the devastating overgrowth build of condos and townies and other such messy advancements. Paid ads Do not divulge all the facts.
