Hi, I have this plow plane plus may others. Nice for small work. Could I make one suggestion if I may, start planning from the toe and work back. This allows you to get straighter grove as the plane blade is less likely to move off alignment if it encounters difficult grain. Cheers from Tasmania
I found the steel in the blades of pretty average quality. The 3mm one kept chipping out at the edge when using. I bought a 1/4 and 1/8 blade meant for the Veritas small plow plane and they fit this plane plus are a far better quality. The plane itself is a wonderfull bit of kit and works very well...albeit with Veritas blades :) just make sure you get the Right Hand veritas blades in the 1/8 size... LH will not work in this plane :)
@@Derek_Lark The prob with mine is the timber... pretty damn hard. They worked in soft woods well but not in the hard woods use like Jarrah and spotted gum. But I still use them in the softwoods.
@@bigkiv47 I have had no problem with spotted gum but haven't tried the really hard stuff. They are tricky to get sharp being so small. I will have a play on some harder scraps. Thanks for the heads up.
Could be. The website and my local wood guild expert say some type of rosewood. Bubinga is also called African rosewood so perhaps all in the same family? Whatever it is it looks and works fine.
I have one of this and I can tell you: just change the knob bolts for M5 bolts and be happy. It's a nice tool with nice blades. Nothing amazing.

We. have a couple of Luban block planes which I love. Blade holds its edge for ages. Looks like a cool “toy” Derek.

Does it have nickers (little slitters to cut the fibers when planing a dado. For an example see the Stanley 45).
