    Yeah!!! I love the bit of movie magic at the end... I was wondering how you made it spin. Nicely done on the tom too.

    That matching receipt totally was confirmation that painting the whole set in that colour was the right decision :-)

    Hey david, I'm 13 and I've been playing for about 5 or 6 years now and I'm finally playing in the youth band at my church. Now I'm using my acoustic set which i haven't use in a good while because i have a electric kit for at home. Anyway i couldn't get the sound i wanted out of my toms and i switched my setup over and over several times in tell i found your channel and noticed you have a jazzy kind of setup almost. I tried it and now thats what i do. You are my favorite drumming channel on youtube because you make do with what you have instead of buying something that will do what you can make for free. My favorite thing is how you built a cheap screwed up drum set and now your rebuilding it back to better then new, or how you turned a tom into a snare which is so radical, creative, and awesome. Anyways, just saying that you deserve way more subscribers and you have a great channel. Keep up the great work. 😃

    Hey David, what were the steps you took before you threw on your first coat of paint? I'm planning on doing this to a old set I threw together but I have to take the wrap off it first then I don't know where to go after the wrap is off.. Maybe you could help me with some steps? Thanks man! Love your channel! Keep up the videos!

    • @rdavidr
      @rdavidr  9 років тому

      +Cameron Buffa just take the wrap off and remove any of the adhesive left on the shell, give it a light sanding with 220 grit paper and you can start staining or painting

    Hi There, did you ever dig in the topic of the inside shell paint? What substance is used, what effect does it have on sound? Would you advice anyone to do it diy?

    Hello sir, I've watched practically all of your videos. I can say I'd like to have you as a neighbour lol, but seriously, congrats for all the containts you have in all your videos, I just devoured it. I thank you Btw, because you motivate me indirectly to rebuild my first drum set who was a Royce from 1990 or around. It had a black plastic coat that I've put out, and I'm now trying to make all the chrome and metal parts shine like if they were new. I was asking myself somethin and I'm pretty sure you have the answer. How many spray can does it takes to paint 2 high toms , a floor tom and a bass drum ??? thank you in advance and keep making good videos !

    • @rdavidr
      @rdavidr  8 років тому

      +Al R ehh im not exactly sure how many, but I would start with 5 maybe

      +rdavidr Ok thank you. when you painted your 20 $ drum set, did you use cans ?

    • @rickabick1982

      +rdavidr and for the clear, only one spray can ?

    • @rdavidr
      @rdavidr  8 років тому

      yeah I used 1 on each drum, then 2 on the bd. I probably could have used more on the floor tom though

    Hello David. I'm watching all your videos, every night: as it was a TV show. Brilliant.
    I' thinking about to get back to the original color of the wood. I have an used kit, and the old owner painted it (drums is in my latest videos here).
    What should I do please? Take off the color with chemical staff, sanding and that's it? Or is there any other thing I should take care and think of? Wrapping is another idea, but I saw you had some problems with that.

    • @rdavidr
      @rdavidr  8 років тому +1

      +Ivan Leone I dont have any experience with any sort of stripper, ive always just sanded them. But a proper drum wrap is pretty easy to put on. If you use fabric just make sure its thicker so it doesnt stretch as much like mine did. Also if you use fabric, use spray adhesive. I used hot glue just because I didnt know if I would like it or not and wanted to be able to take it off easily.

    And: Not exactly a "boring" video, but it seems a bit empty because there's none of that cool, 'lounge-y' background music in it! ;-)

    Couldn't have picked an uglier color. If you're going to do all the work to strip down and paint drums, at least use a desirable color.
